  • "We had our Christmas dinner here and it was perfect, which is pretty impressive considering the place was packed and it was a Holiday. For some reason we have not been back until this week. Had sushi rolls that in every aspect were the best I have had anywhere in PA. The plating was artistic, service friendly and very attentive. Has a wonderful table , decor is contemporary with nice lighting and soothing atmosphere....for the life of me I don't know why we haven't eaten here more often....this will change. Highly recommend..!!!! : )"

  • "We found this restaurant through Open Table and we simply fell in love with it!! The place is so beautiful! Every corner with a unique modern design. The food is by far the best we have had!! There was not one thing that we ordered that wasn't tasty! The presentation of the food adds to the taste ;) this restaurant is great for any occasion! We have been on a romantic date night, a double date and a group party!! The big round tables are great for big parties! They have a spinning round tray in the center that allows your party to share the amazing dishes.. Simply loved the idea!! And it may sound too perfect but the service is incredible!!! Cannot wait for my next visit there :)))"

  • "This restauarant is dated and boring. The wine selections are horrible. The food was good- but nothing we haven't had before. I think it's time for a revamp of the menu. It tries to be "modern" but fails; either be a more traditional Chinese restaurant or step your game up! I think this place has what it takes but is in need of a new manager who can get the place moving again. The worst part was when we entered at 8 on a Friday night it was dead- that always makes me nervous."

The service was impeccable, we appreciated that even though it was a BYOB Sunday evening the glasses were set attentively for the bubbly and changed between the different bottles of red. The food was prepared to perfection and the atmosphere was relaxed yet special. We will be back!"

The waiter was very nice, but his timing was way off. He rushed us to order, but then once our food came, he completely forgot about us. The food was good, but not great. The appetizer portions were on the small side and tasty, but not amazing. My entree fish was overcooked. My friends' orders of fish were undercooked. Overall, an average experience. The space is beautiful."

  • "Went last minute for a Saturday night dinner hoping for some decent sushi and had no problem getting a table- no wonder. Ordered some maki rolls and crab balls to start, the sushi tasted like it could have come from the refrigerator section at Wegmans and the crab balls could have been made by Mrs. Paul's. My girlfriend and I decided to split a bronzino- oh boy. What came to the table was literally nothing more than fish skin with batter on it- no fish. However, to their credit, they did throw an old fish head on the plate for authentic effect. We didn't eat it and they did take it off the bill, but it was a waste of a Saturday night and we won't be back."

  • "The ambiance is definitely up scale. We ordered the Sashimi sampler along with a spicy tuna eel roll. The sushi was ok, not mind blowing. I did appreciate the lighter sushi soy sauce that they have. It focuses the flavor on the sushi rather than being too salty. We also ordered the Vietnamese braised beef. It was pretty decent but felt the cost was a bit high for what it was. Overall a decent place but prefer Chinese/Asian food from Chinatown."

  • "We were a party of 4 and dined on a recent snowy winter Sunday night. Sundays are BYOB at Susanna Foo and we make it a point to dine there on special Sunday's for that reason. We lucked out as there was a special Chinese New Years menu being offered that evening which was a fixed price 4 course dinner. The selections accommodated most any diner's taste and the desserts were excellent. The wait staff is very attentive without being intrusive. Susanna's kitchen is notable on a national scene and whatever is presented, you can count on most enjoyable experience."

  • "Have been a few times before and love the food and service. Booked a table for six a week in advance and we were seated in what seemed like a perfect little private dining room. However it was near the entrance and the constant draft of freezing cold air was too much and took away from the whole experience. They had a portable heater but it was not doing good enough for the six of us. Make sure you ask to change tables if ever taken to this table. That is the only reason for the low rating."

  • "Read about the great Sunday Special in Main Line Today newsletter ... Took advantage of the special and the opportunity to BYOB! Wow - what a deal! The dumpling sampler is not to be missed. The HALF PRICE feature on Sunday - why not order the sampler? I went with the Crispy Mandarin Shrimp (looks like art when it is plated and served!) and the taste is spectacular. My daughter got the 12 piece sushi sampler which is a great deal too - 2 piece of salmon, 2 tuna, 1, yellow tail, 1 ebi, 1 eel , and a terrific spicy tuna maki roll. Elegant setting, and just tremendous service too."

Server was helpful, regretful, etc. but management should keep an eye on such details. Even on a weekday and such clientele as there was all probably business people, the bar should be adequately stocked."

  • "Had a great meal, but our server went off the grid somewhere between the first and second course. 40 minutes later the second course arrived after tracking down a manager. After that, she seemed embarrassed to show herself and made quick cursory stops to avoid interaction with us. Can't say the service was universally bad because many people who arrived 15 minutes after we did were already on their entrees when our second course finally arrive. We will go back because the food was exemplary. Our hope is that the service will match the food on our next visit."

  • "My husband and I have dined here before, but I did not see anything on the website about a special Valentine's Day menu (perhaps I missed it?). However, the only menu was a $65 per person 5-course prix fixe menu, and the "special" menu options were very limited - only the entree and dessert courses had more than 3 options. While the food itself was all fine, it was not spectacular and certainly not worth the price. They also ran out of the entree I ordered, so everything took longer than expected. We were the last ones in the restaurant, and the staff was in full swing cleaning and breaking down tables by the time we got our check. How romantic - in fact, my husband now says he "owes me a real Valentine's dinner.""

  • "I had received a $200 gift card from my boss for Xmas and decided to go and use it on 2/14. When going to pay the bill the waiter informed me that the gift card was only for $105. Really, who gives a gift of $105. I knew for a fact that it was $200 but did not want to make a scene and paid the rest in cash. Food and service were good, but NEVER buy a gift card from them."

  • "With so many restaurant options I would not recommend SF unless the others were booked. Overall the experience was neutral and not memorable. With such a namesake it has lost it's edge. Nothing served to the six of us was particularly great just good...the fusion element which connotes innovation was totally missing in our opinion. Don't sit in the small dinning room as it was 15 degrees colder compared to the man dinning room. They had two space heaters positioned near our table which didn't provide enough heat or for that matter atmosphere. I think the whole restaurants concept needs a refresh again considering the options and if they want to stay competitive."

  • "We live in the Washington DC and eat at Susanna Foo's whenever we are in the Philadelphia area. The bronzini which we ordered at our last visit was one of the best dishes we have ever enjoyed. The fish was prepared to perfection and the spicing and sauce were outstanding. The Chinese New Year price fixed 4 course meal was also a very good deal."

  • "Food was an overall miss, nothing special. Shrimp wonton soup tasted like plain boiled water, no flavor. What was listed on the menu as "Sizzling fish" was served lukewarm on a cold white plate. The ribs were good and on temperature. The pork fried rice was lukewarm and bland, but tasted ok. The crab balls were bland and flavorless and were likely imitation crab. We would NOT return in a hurry. There are much better and more consistent Asian restaurants at which to spend your money. The service was spotty, as we had to often seek out our waitress, but she was pleasant enough. Overall we would NOT recommend and we did NOT get good value for what we spent, which was about $100 for 2 people for mediocre food and service."

  • "We ordered a glass of wine, which was served after a longish wait despite the fact that the restuarant was virually empty at 7 PM on a Saturday evening, and then tried to discuss with the waiter what my wife, who has some allergies, could eat. The waiter was stunningly unhelpful -- and we ended up having to walk out since it seemed that my wife would not be able to eat anything even though we'd eaten there before (after paying for our wine, of course, for which the waiter quickly presented a bill!). (see continuation below). The waiter pretty much said, in response to our request that he ask the chef what my wife could eat, "no asian food" at this Asian restaurant. We even asked if the chef or maitre d' could come over, and he said "no"!!!"

  • "First of all I want to say, that we have been to the restaurant many times over the years and were always happy. But this special New Year Eve Celebration was quiet a disaster! We invited a couple of friends to celebrate this special day. But, boy was I embarrassed! The pre-advertised menu was different from the menu at the restaurant and certainly different from the food we got. It took an astonishing long time to order our food and even a longer time to get it! We never expected such unorganized and chaotic evening. Susanna Foo has been a quiet respectable address in the Philadelphia restaurant scene for many years. As we have been customers for many years. We certainly hope this was an exception and not the downturn of a good restaurant."

  • "I expected much more from this restaurant in terms of service and food. I have dined there before with a large group so I was not focused on service so much the first time. Second experience was just small plates in the bar and it was very good and I was pleased sitting at the bar tables and comfy seats. This past New Years Eve experience was disappointing in terms of service. When we walked in the 2 girls at the hostess stand did not even acknowledge us. I had to say hello to them to get their attention. We said our name and she said ok then turned around. I said "what does that mean? How long with it be for our table?" She replied, "oh, I don't know.." I had to ask her if we should wait there or go to bar? Staff needs training."

  • "Although our food was tasty, service was so discourteous and unprofessional that it ruined our evening. Our waiter began by exclaiming "What" when we sat down. He couldn't be bothered to take our order, bring cutlery, pour a beer or bring dessert menus. We told the manager (after waiting a considerable time to speak with him) that we were dissatisfied. He said, "Sorry we're busy". Although we understand 12/31 is a frantic night for restaurants, he offered no accommodation or solution. How about "Sorry you're having this experience, here's a certificate to come back and try us again another night?" He simply didn't care. We were charged 20% service, although this was not indicated on the menu. Rude beyond belief. We will not be back ever."
