  • "Ceviche was to die for, really exquisite. They have so many varieties beyond the traditional lime/salt variety. I would recommend the ceviche taster to try 3 different varieties. However, I didn't enjoy the other menu items. My bf ordered steak tacu tacu, cooked "medium", but it was not medium, and steak was tough and rubbery like a shoe sole. Tacu Tacu was lacking flavor for me. I would really only recommend the ceviche, which have these incredible sauces unlike anything I've tasted before. I also had a taquito app, which was just OK. Service is OK, Place is really small, so it's best to get there early or expect limited elbow room. Overall though I would come back when I am in the mood for ceviche."

  • "I went to Surfish based on a recommendation from a Peruvian friend. As my friend and I are married to Peruvians, we know what good Peruvian food is supposed to be like. That said, Surfish lived up to all expectations. The food was fantastic. Despite having reservations, we had to wait for quite a while before a table opened up to accomodate us. Nevertheless, the food was worth the wait. Surfish's only downfall is its cramped seating area. Chef Aguilar should consider expanding; it would be a shame if he couldn't proffer his talent to more people."

  • "This was quite the find after having stopped in once prior. Though the menu is fairly simple, it does pack a punch in the quality items and fare which was offered. Despite the lack of finesse on the part of one of the servers, the experience was worth the trip into the heart of Brooklyn. The ceviche mixto is quite the deal!"

  • "This guy is a star at sauces. The sauce on the shrimp tamale, the peanut sauce on the ribs, the tigre with the ceviches...amazing. I was lapping them up with a spoon, wiping them up with my fingers. They were busy, but they forgot to bring us a dessert menu when asked, and mistook "no cilantro on top" for extra cilantro on top. But that doesn't change the fact that the meal was divine."

  • "I chose Surfish from the 10 best spots to go in Park Slope. I wanted to take my fiancé on a date night. We wanted to try something different it was awesome food, service, sangria. She was pleased and raved about it all weekend long. It is small but well worth trying. The food was fresh and prepared to perfection very accomadating staff definitely going back soon."

  • "2nd visit. Impeccable, from food to service. Not one single complaint. We come from Bayside, Queens to eat here. Highly recommended."

  • "Some of the dishes were excellent takes on Peruvian cuisine: chicharrón sliders; and some left a lot to be desired: overly salty pork and cold entrees. Service was uninspired."

  • "I wasn't sure what to expect by this little place. The menu offers something for everyone (meat lovers, leaf eaters, or picky pals). Each of us had something different (small plate, entree, and brunch item). Loved it all. Whether Pork belly, steak & eggs, or eggplant, you'll be delighted by the flavor and leave full not only from the food (proper portions) but from the love you can tell goes into the food. Brunch even came with a free drink."

  • "Surfish was a very good experience. It's good for smaller parties of 6 or less, very small place. Even though we had a reservation for 5 people we waited an hour to be seated.. It was worth the wait... The food was authentic & delicious. The sangria was really tasty...the chocolate dessert was yummy..I highly recommend this restaurant... Enjoy!"

  • "Took my family there for dinner. The space is very small and dark but the food is awesome. Even my picky 5 yr old loved her chicken and mashed potatoes. Everything we ordered we loved!"

  • "Excellent food and service! Very creative, fresh and servers very accomodating for recommendations, making adjustments. Staff super helpful and lovely. Food innovative and perfect! Noise was extremely annoying, to the point that we had to ask them to turn it down, as it was hurting our ears and difficult to talk and listen. No relevance to the mood, holiday nor ambience. Just loud music blaring over speakers. The TV screen can go too, or just be turned off when no bar scene. All servers/waiters very friendly, warm and accomodating. Thank you! Do you host private parties? or cater? You are not a sports bar. If you turn down the music sometimes, and even turn off the TV too, will become more of a romantic hot spot or late night locale."

  • "I first discovered by accident with my friend. We sat in their backyard and enjoyed everything we ordered (tapas and ceviches). I came back with my boyfriend on a rainy Friday night and everything tasted better than I remembered. Their ceviche is delicious (had all 3 tuna versions). Lychee martini was very flavorful as is their sangria. You can pass on the grilled corn. The tilapia and grilled steak entrees were delicious as well. No room for dessert. The staff seemed to be partial owners and were attentive. The place is cozy and romantic. If you don't like sitting close to the next table or near strangers, this place is not for you to dine in - you order something to go instead."

  • "Upon arrival I hadn't realized the place was so small, however, an intimate setting is always nice so I thought. The chips & dip as a starter was tasty...the avacodo salad looked great in appearance but lacked taste, it needed more dressing. I ordered the seafood soup as my dinner and my date ordered the steak with brussel sprout, plantains & green salad. Again the soup was tasty, however, the only seafood in the soup was shrimp. My dates steak was a lil tough and the vegetables were cooked way tooo soft for his liking. The 1 Key High Note Of The Evening was the Sangaria...IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!!! The noise level was very loud bc of the size of the place. The service was mediocre. Just go to this place 4 a quick drink & then leave...please!!!"

  • "I was hosting a guest from out of town and I wanted to experience a different gift of Brookyln-it's international cuisine. The Peruvian dishes of Surfish are impressive from start to finish. The ambiance is quaint. A great and welcome contrast to some of the large, high capacity choices of City life. Begin with a full list of cerviche choices, any one of which is equally satisfying. My colleague was impressed. I chose the mussels to start. The only thing missing was some bread with which to sop the delicious broth. For a entree, I chose the Adobado. The pork was so tender and be yucca was a hearty and delightful compliment. Seasoned just right. Apple crisp for dessert. A perfect choice on a late autumn night"

  • "Excellent list of appetizers: We had two sets of ceviche samplers which were delicious. The chicharron sliders, tamales with shrimp and tamales verdes were wonderful too. The Cuzqueña beer was great."

  • "Really enjoyed our (2 people) time there - Thursday night there was 3 piece band playing music, which really added to the ambience of this small space - while not being too loud it did prevent you from hearing everything said at the next table. We order primarily from the tapas menu to share although we did have a seafood soup that was huge and delicious. We had the crispy oysters, the strip steak and the tamale with a shrimp sauce - Everything was great. The service was quick and attentive. All and all a nice night out."

  • "This was my first experience with Peruvian food and Surfish Bistro piqued my future curiosity. The restaurant is a small, intimate and well-decorated with an inviting welcome sign outside that says: "Interesting Food is Served Here." My wife and I shared a mussels appetizer which was perfectly seasoned. She chose the stir-fried steak dinner and I, the lamb shank special. Both were delicious-my lamb just "oozed from the bone." We finished with profiteroles served in a marvelous creme sauce which only further complemented a wonderful dinner. I will return."

  • "Definitely will be back to try the rest of the menu. The place was a lot smaller than I expected. Probably better to request indoor or outdoor when making the reservation. Order anything from the ceviche menu and you will not be disappointed. This place may not be that accessible or a trek from all the other hot spots NYC has to offer, but it truly is worth the trip. Great prices top it off."

  • "We found Sufish Bistro on the internet and were delighted. We shared tapas for appetizers. The mahi mahi taquitos were outstanding. The entrees were fabulous. There was a guitarist the night we were there which made our experience even more enjoyable."
