Greetings from Venice. We are honored to present Superba Snack Bar, a neighborhood joint showcasing housemade pastas, small-plate snacks and an ode to vegetables. You will find us where food, art and community intersect.

We have a passion for honest food with a true Southern California approach. Our offerings follow the arc of the moon and come from our backyards, our hands and our hearts. We give our ingredients, process and people equal consideration and respect.

Shall we collectively imagine a communal gathering spot where good conversation, great food and inspired experiences rule? That just might work. All we need is you.

California cuisine can be many things in practice. Superba has its own twist on unusual ingredient combinations that change frequently. Although difficult to pin down almost everything is great. That's why it's called Superba

First time there on a recent Saturday night. Great service from the host and manager to our waiter and service staff. Tried the duck liver mousse, meatballs and squash starters along with the shrimp and grits and fried chicken plates, both tasty!

This is mainly a place for foodies. It has a bit of west side hipster feel with an eclectic decor. The food is artistic and creative all served tapas style. While I did enjoy it, the portions are small and a bit pricey. For a party of two you will need to order at least 4 dishes if not more. We did 4 and spent $90 which included tax and tip. But we not order drinks. Just want to set some parameters. We actually left still feeling a bit hungry so we headed over to in n out to finish the evening. And in case you are wondering, my girlfriend and I are thin people. We don't gorge ourselves at dinner. Enjoy

The food is "superba". Try the smoked bucatini carbonara with poached egg on top and/or the short-rib benedict. The rustic toast with fresh butter and orange marmalade was also incredible. I wasn't a fan of the bacon, much more like ham but it did have great flavor. Looking forward to the opening of the sister restaurant in El Segundo next spring! Paul Hibler knows how to create beautiful and yummy food.

5 of us ate here and all enjoyed our meals... when they came. Each one came out at different times and 4 of us had finished before the 5th came. We asked about this & were told "meals come out when they're ready. That's how it works here". I'm sorry, what? No restaurant worth its salt would make that excuse. The correct response would be "I'm sorry, I'll check on that immediately". No one wants to go out to eat with friends and all be eating at different times. Also, they seated us at a small table for 4 and we asked to be moved. They moved us, but still tried to convince us that we could squeeze into the original table. Again, what? The only reason they're getting 3 stars is because the food was good. That said, we won't be going back.

The food is good but the service is awful. The manager is honestly the most arrogant person I have ever met. The wine list is very overpriced for what it is. I would avoid it at all costs, especially given what else is in the neighborhood (eg Gjelina, Tasting Kitchen, Saltair, etc).

We had high expectations for this place, but found it disappointing. We ordered a variety of small plates, plates and pastas for our group. Most dishes were tasty enough, but the plates (large) and pasta dishes contained about the same portion size as the small plate, just served on larger dishes, so lots of "white space" on the plate. Additionally, dishes were overpriced. Service and ambiance were ok.

Just to be clear -- we had a nice meal and a good server, but the major issue I had was that we were seated over 45 minutes late for our reservation (after 9pm for an 8:15pm reservation). I understand restaurants can get busy and don't mind being seated a little past our reservation time, but anything over 30 minutes without some offer of consideration is very poor form by the restaurant IMHO. At other restaurants, they usually offer something (a complimentary drink or a dish) as an apology but Superba offered nothing. Very disappointed.

Our dinner at Superba Snack Bar was excellent. We sat outside so noise was not an issue at all. We really enjoyed the BLT, the burratta, and the gnocchi, but the fried chicken was by far the most amazing thing we ordered. It was perfectly cooked, with a delicious crispy skin and the combination of sweet honey and spicy sauce was spot on. Would definitely order it again.

After hearing all the rave reviews for this place, am thinking we must have ordered the wrong items. The most disappointing dish was the lemon flavored pasta. Overdone and dry! They boast about making their own homemade pasta, and I can make this 10x's better at home with store bought pasta from Trader Joes. The dish of butternut squash with pomegranates was delicious.

I love Superba Snack Bar. But unfortunately, I found the brunch experience disappointing although the staff was helpful and friendly. The Short Rib Benedict seemed to be made of salt. We also got the Hatch Green Chile which was good, but not up to what I usually think of as Superba's standard. However, I will always recommend this restaurant, especially for dinner. The carbonara is spectacular.

We had a reservation for 4 people at 9pm on a Friday night. At 9:15, we were offered the end of a communal table inside the restaurant, where the space would be tight for 3 people, let alone for 4. We were all shocked that the restaurant had the audacity to offer us such a tiny space, meant for 2-3 people...to a party of 4. We told them this was clearly not going to work, and then proceeded to wait until 9:30 to finally sit down for dinner. I also observed that the space offered to our party of 4 was now occupied by 3 people (as it should be). This, coupled with the fact that the restaurant is clearly NOT doing a good job of managing its reservation schedule, makes me hesitant to return. It's a pity because the food was rather tasty.

food: tasty; service: attentive without being overbearing and zero attitude (yay!); ambiance: lively; noise: if you sit outside, very minimal--inside is a different story; price: on par with other trendy venice restaurants (not cheap, but not a complete rip-off); easy to find parking even on a busy night; menu had lots of interesting choices; wine list left a little to be desired considering this is a beer and wine only place. overall, we enjoyed our dinner!

Love Superba, their food is absolutely awesome. They have a reasonable selection of wine by the glass and bottle. When we went, they put a special 5 course dinner together for us upon request even though it was officially no longer on the menu so no complaints about service which was excellent all the way through. The atmosphere is great and perfect for couples, singles or smaller groups. Don't go here if you're on a budget but if you want to treat yourself and your friends, you cannot go wrong.

Took an extended lunch from work on Friday to try Superba Snack Bar. I've been wanting to go for quite a while. Location was nice and the food was great. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was due to the outdoor seating. The vinyl covered padding on the bench street side gets very hot, VERY HOT, but at least they give you a blanket to help with that. The other seat were just stools with no back which can be a little uncomfortable since there was no support. I would definitely go back and I'm going to take the family but we'll most likely sit inside.

Superba's food is well, superb. The wine list is unusual (read that as indecipherable to someone who is not tasting and buying wine on a regular basis.) Nevertheless, the server's recommendations proved to be delicious. The setting is comfortable, kind of cave-like (tall ceiling, low lighting) inside, busy bar seating, and very open and inviting outside (but ask beforehand to be outside.) Into that setting, imagine young, casual, hip diners and you've got a relatively new hot Venice hangout. Two warnings: parking is impossible; noise level only slightly less than intolerable.
