We'll be back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome food and fantastic serviceWhen I decided I didn't want to cook for Mother's Day, we made reservations at Sunset Grill for brunch and it exceeded our expectations. The service was impeccable and the food was fantastic. Our 9 year old son was welcomed and made to feel quite grown up as he reviewed his choices on the outstanding kid's menu. Our parents were equally delighted with their choices and the willingness (and patience) of the waiter to make changes to the items to suit their needs. Even though the place was quite busy, we were not rushed and the food came out perfect!
Sunset Grill is our "go to" place when we want to grab a bite to eat or have a nice glass of wine but now it will also be our go to place for special occasions.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience.I hadn't been to Sunset Grill in years and I don't know why. The whole experience was fantastic. We arrived 20 minutes early and were taken to our table right away which I thought was great. The waiter, Andrew, did a great job as well. At first he seemed a little distant but as the night went on I realized he was just letting us enjoy dinner. I never had to even look around once for him to bring water, bread etc. He was just always there at exactly the right time. Food was great as always. Took desert home and it was amazing later. The wine list is extensive, and they tend to have good specials. The most impressive part is their desserts. Food was excellent, service was good. Noise level was a little bit elevated because there were parties because of graduation of 2 local Universities, but this has not been the case when we have dined there before. Mussels and the cheese, meat, olives and preserves. For entree, it was seared sea scallops and lamb shank. All was excellent, server was attentive and noise was moderate, which is increasingly hard to find in Nashville. I wanted a place that was not a chain restaurant and could be counted on to deliver a little out of the ordinary, great tasting food at reasonable prices and with good service. The sunset grill delivered. Everyone was very happy with the food and the service. Also, save room for dessert because they have some great ones.

Wife is a vegetarian and Sunset Grill has more vegetarian selections than any non-totally vegetarian restaurant I've visited. Everything was freshly prepared and eye appealing. I had salmon, cooked to perfection and well flavored. Prices are favorable. Had Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Ice Cream for dessert. Awesome!!! Wine selections are good and reasonably priced. Wife had Cosmo Cocktail for $6.00 with premium vodka. Can't beat that anywhere. If you're looking for creative menu in a casual setting, this is it. We saw "Rock of Ages" at TPAC and headed over to the restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they had read my special request for a table in the atrium area and immediately seated us accommodating all of our requests. We had the most amazing waiter who took the time to answer all of our questions and was very attentive and engaging. We were served quickly and the food was wonderful. We had heard that Sunset Grill was known for their desserts so we made sure to save room. We are glad we did. One had a pizza, one a chicken quesadilla, and one the pork dish in phyllo dough with crawfish etouffe. All were quite tasty; the diner with the latter dish liked the pork and the etouffe but not the combination of the two.
The waiter was efficient and attentive without being intrusive. The ambience was nice. I dine out regularly and this has always been a great place for a business lunch. When I made the reservation I requested patio seating, and our table was ready and it was perfect. Everyone did seem to enjoy their lunch, I just felt the chicken was very dry and lacked flavor. It was over a pureed cauliflower, which that gave me something to basically dip to moisten the chicken.
