  • "The menu has changed and they now charge for bread but the food was still good."

  • "i took relatives from California to Sunset Grill. They were impressed with wine list and food selection. Service and quality of food were excellent! Recommend."

  • "Great food and service. Nice open atrium area, deck, and bar area. Might add a few more options for vegetarians. Also appreciated the friendly help finding a shuttle."

  • "Nice, quiet and in a great part of town. The waiter recommended the Brussel sprout salad and it was out of this world."

  • "We love Sunset Grille. We usually start with the delicious humus plate. The food is fresh and delicious prepared with just the right amount of ingredients. Never boring or typical...you can't go wrong!"

  • "It's been a few years since I last been here but it was really a nice place again to have dinner with coworkers."
    Dined on 4/8/2014
  • "Since we went on a Sunday night it wasn't too crowded, which was nice for pleasant conversation. Other nights might have been worse. However, since we prefer sitting in a booth, and there weren't any, that was one down thing. The food was great and that's a real plus. Kathy Schklar and Charles Burnett"

  • "Prompt service. Amberjack was excellent. Tilefish was good but amberjack was better. Brussels sprout salad excellent per my wife. Always a reliable dining experience. Chef's menu had too many good choices. Decisions, decisions!!"

  • "We went to The Sunset Grill. Out of our entire group only 1 person enjoyed their meal. The cocktails ( 6 different types) were watered down, send back and no better second time around. the appitizers lacked presentation and taste. We did not even bother with coffee or dessert! It was by far the most disappointing restaurant we have ever visited. We took advatange of the free shuttle and the driver of the bus was extremely rude we should have taken a cab back from our starting location."

  • "We had dinner before attending a concert. Service was great and food was excellent. There was a rather loud table next to us but all in all it was a wonderful evening."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Disappointed that we can no longer get sliced bread to enjoy with our wine and food, especially salads. We were told we could have cheese biscuits or corn muffins for $4. A bit tacky I believe. I'd be willing to pay for good old bread. Waiter repeatedly came back to see if we were ready to order as we were enjoying our appetizer and conversation. We finally just ordered so we wouldn't be interrupted further. Disappointing. And, no lunch continues to be a bummer. Hope the new concept works because we really do like to come to that location and the service and food quality we used to enjoy."

  • "I chose to celebrate my 21st Birthday at the Sunset Grill because of all the great reviews on OpenTable as well as Urbanspoon. I have been to almost every high end restaurant in Nashville, but this was my first time to the Sunset Grill. Pros: -Not too long of a wait -Very Friendly service -Great location -Great Drinks Cons: -The restaurant smelled literally like rotten seafood -The tables are very close and look like something you would find in a fast food joint. -We had 7 people in our party and nobody said they really enjoyed the food **If it is somebody's birthday, they will serve that person Creme Brulee and make them pay $8 for it....Can you say Tacky??"

  • "Visited while in Nashville for a business conference. Location was recommended by two locals and they where absolutely on target! Interesting food combination, nice wine list, special service. If there is a "white page" of daily specials ...order from that!"
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "Trout was overwhelmed by the taste of way too much fennel. The Hanger steak ordered medium was well done-not a hint of red or pin. The chatcuterie was a sodden mass of unidentifable pork shavings with a HEAVY BROWN SAUCE. The noise level at our 8pm seating was DEAFENING and conversation was virtually impossible. Dessert, particularly the bread pudding, were outstanding."

  • "Amazing menu, fanastic food, interior needs a slight update, but can't go wrong eating here!!!!"

  • "This was my first trip to Sunset Grill and the food was great. I had guests in from out of town who really appreciate good food. They loved that chef used local meat and produce. Everyone was so pleased with not only the quality and detail of the food but the fact that we were all comfortably full after cleaning out plates!"

  • "I had my birthday dinner at Sunset Grill and it set the tone for the rest of my night. Me nor any of my attendees had been here before although I've been to other restaurants in the area. It was a great choice! The staff were helpful, nice and attentive and the food was delicious. Being the birthday girl, I tasted everyone else's food too! The cocktails were excellent and worth every penny and my friends and family really enjoyed themselves. Food makes everyone happy and we were no exceptions. Afterwards, we had the energy to party the night away. I will definitely be back and have already encouraged my friends to try Sunset Grill for themselves."

  • "For a restaurant with a menu full of menu items with lots of ingredients that I can't pronounce and don't know what they are, I was pretty disappointed in the food we got. The Caesar salad was bland, the voo doo pasta was bland, the catfish my husband got looked good but it was $20 and he only got two small pieces and the chicken nachos didn't have much chicken. Besides the good service the only good thing about our meal was the creme brûlée."

  • "very pleased with the overall experience. My group liked everything they ordered. Prices were very reasonable. Even had some Vegan entres. Waiter was outstanding"

  • "We've been going to Sunset Grill for years and it remains a favorite choice. Food and service are consistently good and prices are reasonable. Lately, the menu has added some more innovative items to keep up with the trends. The kale salad was excellent. Basics like their thin crust pizza is always a winner."

  • "Busy Saturday night, and lots of noise from some larger parties. There is a lot of energy in the main dining area, so sit on the patio if you want a quieter setting. The crowds didn't slow service or attentiveness for our group of three. Owner Randy Rayburn was present and actively involved, and he is a longtime respected restaurant pro. Our entrees were hanger steak, salmon and trout, and all were very good. Our server was Morna, and she did an excellent job. Been here many times and will keep going back. Not far from downtown, right in the middle of the Hillsboro Village/universities area. Free valet parking."

  • "Sunset Grill has and will always be one of our Nashville favorites. The daily special menu along with the standard menu gives every diner many choices. I always appreciate the service as they treat you like you are their only table."

  • "For our recent visit from VA to visit our Nashville sons, Sunset grill had been recommended as a place to get a really good meal. They were right! Scott was an excellent server, the food was wonderful, (great wine list) and the evening lots of fun. The staff handled a minor glitch at the beginning of our evening graciously and it went up hill from there! I recommend Sunset Grill without hesitation."

  • "When I want to be with friends, I know that we will enjoy the food, service and atmosphere at Sunset. The staff are welcoming to new and veteran diners. Every choice was enjoyed by each of us- all compliments, no complaints!"

  • "The restaurant is great. I do not recommend valet parking. It was a disaster. They parked so many cars on the small street that it was nearly impassable. Instead of bringing my car to me at the valet stand, they yelled from half a block away for me to come to them."

  • "Reservation was @ 8:15 wasn't at a table till 9:00 bartender ignored us and let others cut in line. Hostess was the worst rude from the time we walked in and heaven forbid you ask a question. Would not recommend this to my worst enemy."

  • "We had a reservation for Valentine's Day. We waited for about 15 minutes past our reservation for our table. That is the only complaint I could speak of. The food was excellent! And our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly.. Would love to go back in the warmer months and sit out on the patio."

  • "I have been going to Sunset Grill for special selected special nights for about 25 years. It is one of my wife's favorite restaurant. At one time, the service was about the best in town and the menu was expansive and eclectic. Over the years, the menu and wine list have both narrowed, as has the space left to walk in what I consider to be an excessively over crowded dining area. The attention to detail and level of service is not what it used to be, although it is still pretty good. Still a good place to go to celebrate a special occasion. You will not be disappointed, but don't expect the quiet romantic environment with impeccable service that once defined this place."

  • "We went for Valentine's Day because it is my girlfriends favorite restaurant. Sunset is continually a good spot to eat. They had a nice Valentine's special which was good. We had a short wait passed our reservation time but it allowed us to get a glass of wine. The restaurant was crowded but the food arrived quickly and was tasty."

  • "We were looking a great a nice upscale, yet casual dinner spot for Valentine's Day Weekend. Sunset Grill had availability and fit the bill. We had a great time. Awesome food options and drink options at a reasonable price. Very attentive and courteous staff."

  • "We weren't disappointed in choosing this as our 2014 Valentine's Day dinner spot. I'm sure the waiting area is much nicer when it's not raining and not a special holiday. It's in a nice area and the food was good. My wife had the Hanger Steak and I had the BBQ short ribs/beef. So good. We were so full from that and our biscuits and calimari appetizer that we couldn't even touch the dessert menu."

  • "I had not been to Sunset in years but after my girlfriend and I booked our trip to Nashville, it was definitely on my short list of food destinations. We ended up setting reservations for Saturday night. We got caught up with some of our activities, but they were superb at rescheduling our reservations for later in the evening. My girlfriend had the filet and actually said that she would travel and pay big money to eat that every day. The short ribs were delicious like I remembered. Definitely hoping Nashville ends up becoming our relocation destination so we can dine here more often! Highly recommend Sunset for any occasion!"

  • "As always, Sunset is a great place to celebrate Valentine's Day, an anniversary, a birthday....or just to enjoy a great meal. New menu items have given a "refresh" to the experience."

  • "This place was a great find. me and my husband made reservations and went for a late valentines dinner. We loved it best dish to me was the beggars purse...omgosh to die for and also the coca cola short rib was just delicious...it was very busy but we were seated and served in a timely manner....the only weird thing is the building and the way it is set up on the inside.... But other than that we will definitely return...if not just for the beggars purse lol...it is a great place to bring friends or just a love.."

  • "There was hardly anything about the evening that could have been better. Excellent food at very reasonable prices. Service that was responsive without being hovering. We don't eat at Sunset Grill as often as we'd like, but every visit confirms the wisdom of the decision to return."
