Diner Reviews
  • "The food is really good here. In the summer, you can dine al fresco, practically underneath the Tappen Zee Bridge, on the Hudson River, with ducks swimming nearby. In the winter months, the inside restaurant has a neon blue tint, which reminds me of a bug light. However, the food doesn't dissappoint. I had the Chicken Parm, which was really delicious. My husband started with a large bowl of mussels in a delicious sauce, that could've almost been a meal in itself. He followed by linguini with clam sauce which was delicious. Check it out in the summer. You'll have an overall better experience."

  • "Same great food at Sunset cove but the new decor is hard to take. It is hard on the eyes and everyone looks ashen. Please bring back the old lighting."

  • "My husband and I had a delicious dinner and the people working there were very friendly. We were visiting and the hostess went out of her way to give us helpful information on the area. The view of the water was very nice. We hope to return in warmer weather!!"

  • "Food and service was good but ambience was a little too bright."

  • "I was confused at my dreadful experience based on all of the positive reviews the food was just awfuAt best it was bad college dorm / mess hall quality and there was nothing served that I could give even 1-star. Pasta Fagioli had a sour taste. The low quality grated Parmesan cheese was a welcome addition since it was so salty it hid the rest of the horrible flavors of the soup. Organic Chicken was awful. It was bitter & over-seasoned. It was accompanied by enormous mounds of mashed potatoes (gummy, over-salted) and overcooked broccoli rabe. Three bites and done. Ice cream sundae – Just a bunch of low end stuff in a bowl. Salmon was incredibly overcooked and the Caesar salad was incredibly overdressed."

  • "Viewing the Tappan Zee Bridge at night with great person, good service, and excellent food - can't beat it on a cold winter night. I will be back to check out the summer fare and activities on the marina."

  • "Wonderful place, confusing to find but very beautiful. The food was a little hotter than I expected but still very good. Ask for a table by the window."

  • "We went in December and ate indoors. There still was the view of the Tapanzee Bridge as we sat by the fire place. The waiter was attentive at first, menus & drinks. He came over to take our order in a reasonable amount of time, but we were talking and needed a minute. He did not return for 20 or so minutes, my husband actually had to get up to get someone (it was not busy only 5 or 6 other tables). They brought our meal in a reasonable time too and accommodated me when I wanted to make a substitution even though the menu says "no substitutions" in small print way at the bottom. I needed lemon for my fish, again my husband had to get up to get someone. Overall the food was good and it was a pleasant experience, if you want to be left alone."

  • "Spent a lovely Sunday afternoon celebrating a milestone birthday ; had a great selection of delicious food. Sunset Cove delivered the full assortment of breakfast favorites as well as lunch living up to the true Brunch meaning. We never had to ask for anything, the staff was attentive, respectful and very friendly. Mimosa's and coffee refills just kept on coming!"

  • "We need a place to meet our niece for dinner in Westchester. Went to Open Table and found "Sunset Cove". We had a very enjoyable dinner. The staff was top notch with their service and suggestions. Our meal(great flat breads & fresh pastas) and view will bring us back to Sunset Cove."

  • "Based on what we read we expected this to be more than a family restaurant desperately in need of a makeover. While the deck views in warmer weather may make this a destination, the food and interior decor scream " go elsewhere""

  • "Was looking for a dining spot to go to before a concert at Tarrytown Theatre. Found this place on Open Table, while, not overly impressed with the decor and ambience, the meal itself was enjoyable. To be fair, it was dark and off-season, am told by friends that summer meals is a must."

  • "This was a great find, although it truly must be wonderful in the warmer weather. We were seated at a window table unfortunately it was dark outside and the inside lighting made for a reflection of ourselves. Service was very good, friendly and not rushed. Nice selection on the menu (but disappointed as it is not the same menu as is online -- many fish dishes are missing and that was what we were looking forward to) /. However, there were specials, which sounded delicious. Calamari had too much of a flour taste, but tender. The veal and chicken entrees we ordered were very good. Nice sauces. Portion size was good too. Did not try any dessert."

  • "We are from out of town and just found this restaurant on the internet. I am always leary to eat in Italian restaurants due to being Italian and cooking Italian myself... but... It was fabulous! The atmosphere was great, the view was amazing, the food was fabulous and served very hot and the service was impecable! Highly recommend!"

  • "Everything is below average, the only positive aspect is the outdoor dining along the Hudson River."

  • "It was too cold for outside, but they had huge tables for groups set up by the windows, so our smaller group of four couldn't enjoy it. I would have written a better review if that had not been the case."

  • "food was good, and the view was great, but our server was disengaged, slightly rude, and did not seem interested in being there. barely remembered our requests, and basically handed our check off to us without saying a thing, as if he had better things to do than his job. Very off-putting to the entire lunch i was having with my girlfriend, but the food and the view made up for most of his rudeness."

  • "Selected the place on line for location and view. Waiter (Javier) efficient but UNfriendly -- interrupting something more important to wait on us? Food okay, but not what we expected from menu. Caesar salad decent, but not at all what the term usually means. Portions enormous, apparently appealing to a public that wants that. We all took home leftovers -- nice in a way, but not why we'd choose a restaurant."

  • "I was seriously disappointed with this restaraunt. First, when asked to wait for dinner to start, we were welcomed to the bar. Not a problem; unless you enjoy paying to drink out of plastic cups!!! Next the dinner menu was NOT what was posted on the restaraunt website. That being said, the food was average with the sauteed spinach lacking any substantial flavor but did have chunks of undercooked garlic. The service was friendly and prompt and the outdoor space offered excellent views of the Tappan Zee bridge and surrounding Hudson River."

  • "This was the worst dining experience I have ever had!! After two hours we still had not gotten our meals, and this is after reaching out to the manager three times. When one of my guests stopped the waiter for the fourth or fifth time, we were ask to leave. This we gratefully did."

  • "We were staying over one night in Tarrytown, NY, just randomly chose Sunset Cove from a Mapquest listing. Turned out to be one of the best meals we've had in a long time. The food was superb and the portions were enormous. The restaurant sits on the water with a view of the Tappan Zee bridge over the Hudson. It's a little hard to find but apart from that I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable dining experience. Not sure if I'll ever be in Tarrytown again, but if I am, I'll definitely dine there!"

  • "Made a reservation because I wanted to sit outside on the water on a nice fall evening....mission accomplished. Unfortunately there was an event taking place on the patio, and another group dining who where quite loud which took away from the ambiance a bit for us. Service was fine, food was good. I would go back again."

  • "This is a really popular restaurant. HOWEVER, You have to be HIGHLY motivated to go this restaurant because it is difficult to find, even with a GPS system. Our Hertz GPS system did not recognize the address. Green Street looks like a narrow alley in some weird wharf parking lot that dead ends. Sunset Cove appears not to need any signs so I guess one could consider it a hidden treasure or a popular local dive. It has a spectacular view of the Hudson River. Menu is extensive (especially seafood), prices are reasonable. We had a party of 12 at one table and 4 at another. Feedback regarding food was mixed. Some seafood dishes appeared overcooked (swordfish and salmon dishes). Service was very slow at both tables. Price is fairly reasonable."
