  • "Great Monday night specials: 2 courses (soup/salad and main course) for $15."

  • "We hadn't been there for a while, & had forgotten just how good the food is. The salmon with quinoa & veggies is delicious, also the 1/2 chicken with mashed potatoes & green beans. We also enjoy the sun-dried tomato soup & the spring greens salad. The bread is o.k., but not very healthy. However, we also opted for a dessert, which is unusual for us; the apple crisp was great & huge -- could have served 3 or 4 probably."

  • "We met friends for lunch/brunch and they pick the place. None of have been here before. I had the braised beef omelette and it was outstanding. All the food was hot, attractive and delicious. Service was very good, they kept the coffee cup filled!!"

  • "A funky place with lots of outdoor seating. Excellent food and service. Very good wine list, but a bit pricey."

  • "My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. I had Mary's half chicken which was tender and full of flavor. My husband had the Seafood Medley. He said the scallops and risotto were the best he'd ever had, only the tuna was slightly overcooked. We went on a Monday so it was quiet and not overbooked. Our waiter was very nice and wasn't constantly at our table trying to hurry us out, so we were able to enjoy our time at a leisurely pace. We will definitely be coming back again."

  • "We had a group of four, three of the four dishes were outstanding; the signature sun-dried tomato bisque soup was excellent, the service was wonderful and the ambience was quiet and stately, like a very nice French bistro. All-in-all, a very nice experience."

  • "Other than the fact that they didn't know I had made a reservation, it is my all time favorite restaurant and I wish they would open one in my north county San Diego."

  • "My group were not quite satisfied with our dishes: mine, the Braised Beef Pappardelle topped with Goat Cheese was average, a little bit too sweet for my taste; my hubby was happy with his “Ultimate” Prime Angus Sirloin Cheese Burger, unlike my son who found the RQ's Lamb Cheese Burger dry and overdone. (Although, I know that we cannot undercook lamb). Not too happy with their brunch menu either: Braised Beef Omelette portobello mushroom was bland and Fried Egg Sandwich would have been better done at home. Sorry, wish I could say something nicer..."

  • "Went to dinner with a friend after seeing a movie at the theater down the street. We were greeted by a delightful hostess and were seated immediately. With in minutes are waitress came to our table. She was energetic, genuinely friendly and very helpful in answering our questions. Our food was delivered after a very short wait which gave my friend and me and chance to enjoy our drinks and chat. Great experience! Will go again very soon ..."

  • "Date night with the lovely lady, service was very good. Started with the goat cheese and pesto torte jar, highly recommended for a starter. Moved on to their signature tomato soup, awesome!! She ordered the halibut pasta which was very flavorful, I ordered the 6oz filet medallions medium, came out well done and dry, but the second time around came out exactly as I expected. The wine list is extensive and unique, good selection of by the glass whites and reds to try. Overall, things went very well, minus the one hiccup. Definitely will be back for the halibut while it's still in season."

  • "I used to love this restaurant but when I took clients there this past week I was very dissapointed. No one liked their meal, the artichoke was very plain and undercooked and the blackened chicken with pasta specialty was bland and definitely not blackened. Also the wait service "hovered" and kept asking us if we were done with our meals when wer werent and the restaurant wasn't that busy."

  • "This was my first dining experience at Sundried Tomato Cafe in SJC. I have to say, my husband and I were impressed with the good service and great food. I loved the delicious salad sampler; so fresh and delicious. I can't wait to try the tomato soup once the weather cools off."

  • "Perfect place to meet an old friend for lunch. I took the train from San Diego and she drove down from Century Ciy in Los Angeles. We both ordered a Seared Ahi Salad and shared a cup of tomato soup. Even the bread (rolls) were good. I look forward to my next meal there. Wish they had one in San Diego!"

  • "One of the very best Bistros we have ever had lunch. The food was amazing, the service outstanding and the "feel" was special. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Came with two friends for Sunday brunch. We each had a different egg dish and were satisfied by the quality of the food. A nice surprise was the small cinnamon roll surprisingly tastful and not overly sweet that came prior to our meal. The waitress made a mistake on one of the orders which had to go back and correct. Unfortunately, she didn't pay enough attention that she charged us for the incorrect and correct entree which shouldnt have been overlooked. We received apologies from everyone - yet two mistakes in one visit gave this service a rating of good and not excellent."

  • "If you don't have a reservation then get there early as it fills quickly. The staff were very professional and approached our table appropriately. The food was good and is in dietary portions, so don't expect a lot of food. My husband, who is a large man, left hungry as his portions were the smallest of all ordered. This is what I call 'foo foo portions'. I would return to this restaurant with women only or have my husband order a burger."

  • "Sundried Tomato has a great menu selection. Their Lamb Burger is delicious. Moist and full of flavor. Their bowtie pasta with sundried tomato light cream sauce is really good. I asked them to add some grilled chicken - wow was that a great addition! Their gelato is the best I've had in the USA. The chocolate is made with quality chocolate. Great consistency and decadent chocolate flavor. I highly recommend. We love this location in San Juan Capistrano. The service is really good too!"

  • "First time at Sundried Tomato Cafe and I had the Italian Sausage Penne. Hands down one of the best pasta dishes ever. Red/marinara sauces can overwhelm pasta and other ingredients, but the whole dish was refreshing and the sauce was divine and an awesome complement to the heavier penne and sausage. I might order this dish every time and I'm already craving it again! My friend who had been to STC before and is one of his favorite restaurants ordered his usual 1/2 sandwich and soup. The Signature Creamy Sundried Tomato Soup was wonderful and not a heavy cream soup. If I could describe STC in one word, it would be "light." The delicious dishes were not heavy, the service was great, and the room was light filled for lunch. Simply Delightful!"

  • "We've been to this restaurant many times over the years. Their chocolate cake is worth the visit alone. This time we mentioned that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary when making the reservation and they put us in a cozy, quiet nook. True to its name, any dish involving tomatoes is a signature dish. Try the tomato soup or humus appetizers. I had the no-pasta vegetable lasagne and my husband, the halibut. He was disappointed in the fish because it was just pan sauted--not as "interesting" as other treatments in the past. I'm not a vegetarian but the lasagne was light and gently seasoned--just right to leave room for the cake! Service was attentive but discreet. Best of all,in honor of the occasion, The Cake was on the house!"

  • "I ordered the Chopped salad which was delicious along with the Butternut Squash soup. The soup was disappointing as it tasted and looked like minestrone only with tasteless butternut squash little squares. It was greasy as well. Sent it back and had the sundried tomato soup. Delicious."

  • "While this restaurant has potential, our overall brunch meal did not impress. I loved the flaky pastries, offered complimentary. But the artichoke appetizer with huge gobs of melted cheese and tarragon aoli was not a good combination for my taste, nor was it completely cooked to tenderness. Even though I am a cheese person and an artichoke person, I would not order this again. They do not work together. The 2 tiny blue crab and bacon hash patties with 2 poached eggs and tomato, likewise, were bland except for being fishy tasting. I did not care for the pesto. The breakfast potatoes also needed work on the flavor. The star of the meal was the lamb burger, a beautiful piece of juicy meat. And the accompanying fries were excellent."

  • "I've been to a couple of Sundried Tomato locations, and the San Juan Capistrano is definitely different from the other locations. The food was good, but I felt like the one in Laguna Beach was slightly better. We ordered the Sundried tomato soup (which is to die for!), and that was definitely the highlight of the meal. The service at all the locations are fantastic. Our waitress was extremely attentive. It was a small but very chic, and I felt very comfortable being there. There weren't too many people at the time I went with my friend, so it was very quiet. Overall, it was a great experience, and we recommend coming back here!"

  • "We have dined with you over the past 6-7 years. Your menu is consistently fantastic with a variety for everyone's tastes. Wine List was great and competitively priced. Your wait staff continues to 4-star... Thank you. Merry Wong"

  • "I hadn't been to the Sundried Tomato for a few years, and it is just as wonderful as I remember it. The ambiance and service were wonderful, as was the food. I had the papperdelle with short ribs and it was almost too rich. Almost. My date had a burger and it was also outstanding. The soup was still my favorite part of the meal. We split a bottle of Reisling that was fantastic."

  • "The food was extremely disappointing. My wife and I had different chicken pasta dishes and both dishes were served using "leftover" chicken. Food was also served only slightly warm. If we had not been with our son's girlfriend, we both would have sent our food back."

  • "Great food, great menu choices. Something for everyone. Would highly recommend."

  • "The food was fine but the service was not. Wait staff kept interrupting our conversation and hurrying our decisions. When we did not decide on a dessert within five minutes, they handed us the check. We were not impressed. Doubtful we would return."

  • "This is a reasonably-priced restaurant with up-market ambiance and service. We went during the lunch hour and, although they were busy, we never felt rushed while we waited for a late arrival or lingering afterward. The portions were generous and my lamb burger was cooked to a perfect medium."

  • "Fantastic food. Couldn't really understand our waiter. Sat outside on the patio next to the street so not the best patio... but would definitely go again. It's fun to go across the street to Swallows inn after dinner and be entertained by the local cowboys. :)"
