  • "I've been to Sunda many times and each time I am impressed with the food & service. It has become a personal favorite, and I always look forward to my next visit."

  • "After not having been here in over a year, I was reminded how much fun this place is. "
    Dined on 4/16/2014
  • "We went here to celebrate my Dad's birthday, and he was treated like a king! The staff is incredibly knowledgable and helpful. Could not have asked for a better dining experience."
    Dined on 4/14/2014
  • "The food here is always good... but it used to be better for some reason. That said, we had half the menu and I would still get everything again."
    Dined on 4/13/2014
  • "Very bussy place, understaffed, we had to wait a long time in order to get our food, ended up cancelling a few items because we could not wait any longer...which was a shame, because the food is fantastic"
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "From the specialty drinks to the specialty menu items definitely in my top 5 of all time!!"
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "I have dined here more than several times over the last year and gave good reviews before for Sunda. The food was great as usual, but the service was horrible. The waitress took our order and didn't come back until it was time to drop off the check. She didn't stop to ask if we wanted any more rolls, which we did, or get us another drink. Of course didn't ask about dessert, just dropped the check and left. I'm going to assume this was a one off issue as I've had good experiences there before."
    Dined on 4/8/2014
  • "The place looks very nice and the service is great but the food was very bad. We ordered pad Thai that wasn't teasry and my husband ordered sea bass fish that wasn't cooked enought He got a new one but it wasn't teasty as well"
    Dined on 4/6/2014
  • "It would be an understatement to say that my husband and I could be considered "foodies." Last year, my son moved to Chicago and he and his fiancée also suffer from this ailment. We regularly search out the new and "exciting" upscale restaurants, but, until now, I have never found one that I would wholeheartedly recommend to friends or visitors who are coming to Chicago. It is a gem in the city with many excellent restaurants. I will definitely go back – and I will always be recommending it to friends visiting the city. I have never written a review for a restaurant before, but took the time to do this because this is a restaurant worthy of a recommendation."

  • "I booked a table at Sunda for myself and 2 girlfriends during a girls trip to Chicago. The experience was amazing. Our server's name was Ben and he was just a joy - always there when you needed him, friendly, and most importantly, helpful. He guided us to some amazing items on the menu and made sure to check in to make sure we loved our selections. The food was unbelievable - the Brussels Sprout salad is not to be missed, the sushi is incredible, and the basic pad thai was even much better than anywhere else. The ambiance is definitely energetic - some might say 'loud' but it didn't bother us. I highly recommend Sunda!"

  • "Tables were sticky, food is below average, it's a trendy place though..."

  • "I took my most important customer to dinner and not a thing could have been better. Cool vibe, good buzz, excellent service, and excellent food. I am coming back!"

  • "Haven't been to Sunda in a few years and have noticed the changes. You're dining in River North so expect the prices to be slightly higher, but I was concerned more about the quantity and quality. The special/feature items were hit or miss, but all smaller pieces - Yellowtail belly was sliced so thin it was transparent. Sent a salmon tare tare dish back because we both agreed it was just blah, but had a funky aftertaste hidden in there. The Tale of Two Tuna roll was a past favorite, but just that now since it has been scaled back. However, the highlight of the evening was the Shaved Brussels Sprout Salad. I can't believe I hadn't had this before - excellent! Pho with Bison shortrib was great. Overall, just ok."

  • "Excellent and trendy Asian restaurant. I focused on the sushi and had a terrific meal. I'll definitely be back."

  • "If you are in the Chicago area this is a must!! A sushi and Asian style restaurant. Our waiter (EVAN) made some unbelievable recommendations, he knew the menus inside and out!! I dined with 4 women in Chicago for the weekend and this was a highlight! The atmosphere was fun and lively. The service and food was outstanding...a great place to stop and have fun! Enjoy"

  • "This restaurant came as a recommendation. The place was very nice and packed and lots of fun, but the food was just so so. We took recommendations from our server for the saki and the dishes. While we were not impressed, it was not totally disappointing either. The kale and seaweed salad was AWESOME though. Everything comes as a "shareable" plate, so that's nice. The place is fun, lots of beautiful people and a great people watching place. Glad we went, but we won't be back."

  • "Very good food, but hard to talk to the person across from you. Acoustics are bad. However, I will come back for the food."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Sunda has an extensive Gluten Free menu. The food is outstanding. I went here with a party of 4 people. Outstanding service and it's a restaurant that I will come back to a lot to eat at."

  • "Took a new friend: very taken with the beautiful decor. Both of us enjoyed the food, especially the Bi Bim Bap which only got better and better as we ate, stirring the rice, vegetables, and steak around. It was delicious and craving inducing! The other dish, Longevity Garlic Noodles with Crab was okay: we didn't taste any garlic, however! It missed the boat~ totally bland. We enjoy the Pad Thai, the egg rolls, and the Pork Belly 'sliders' on steamed buns. At Brunch, in addition to the Asian dishes, we love the French Toast, of all things: scrumptious!"

  • "Best bet on a Sunday morning! Awesome service. Delcious sweet potato caterpillar and kale/seaweed salad. Light but filling. And Billy Dec walked by!"
    Dined on 3/16/2014
  • "The Asian menu is an assortment of great tastes. There is something to select for all. Highly recommend!!"
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "Great atmosphere - energetic with a friendly, competent staff. Food is always creative yet delicious - love the fusion - allows for amazing variety of flavors and textures. The signature cocktails are thoughtful - the Grass Tiger is amazing. Our server directed our ordering and batted about 800 - so pretty pleased."
    Dined on 3/24/2014
  • "I thought the entrance to Sunda was a little formal, a little high-tech, wasn't sure I would like it. Plus there were several noisy kids when we first sat down (it was early...6:00 on Sunday). However the waitstaff was very warm and welcoming - the kids left shortly - and in the back of the restaurant the lighting and ambience was much more comfortable and relaxing. Food was very good - the brussel sprout salad was a standout - I love brussel sprouts, hubby doesn't, but we both enjoyed it. This won't be a regular of mine but I enjoyed the evening and it's definitely worth visiting."

  • "This was the second time that we went to Sunda. Food was good, the service exceptional. A little noisy and that was before the restaraunt was full so don't go expecting an intimate dinner. Still an overall great experience!"
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "Had a great time with my girlfriends and our waitress was very nice, attentive, and helpful! Will definitely be back!"
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "Excellent brunch! Various options for breakfast or lunch options sticking true to the general cuisine of the restaurant. Waitress was extremely helpful, patient, attentive, and pleasant. They have a table-side Bloody Mary bar cart that was great and interesting mimosa flavor choices. Definitely will go back for brunch (and dinner)!"

  • "It's very nice place, good food, we had a great server. But the front desk girl was very rude. I had Bday party there, reserved the table. Unfortunately, we got there 10 mins late. But I called them about it and they said no worries at all. But not really, when we got there the girl on the front desk told us to wait for the next available table, bc we were late. We were waiting for 1 hour!!!! We asked her 3 times if we can sit, even there were tables, she just said NO!! The problem was that she didn't even tried to help us."

  • "Loud! Great food, good vibe.....not great for conversation."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "It was my birthday and they gave me a card signed by the staff with a gift certificate. Very classy!"
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "Sunda was an amazing meal! You can't go wrong with anything you choose...we had a few sushi rolls that were great. Also, you HAVE to try the brussel sprout salad...even if you don't like brussel sprouts. Fantastic! I love sea bass, and their sea bass was some of the best I have ever had. Just to note - the restaurant is very loud. It didn't deter us from having a great time, but we did repeat ourselves a lot. Highly recommend Sunda!!"
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "I went to Sunda a few friends for my birthday, had a splendid time. We all remarked that every entree was delicious, and drinks were good as well. The food was prompt, the wait staff attentive. I hadn't been there in years, I'll be back much sooner next time."
    Dined on 3/20/2014
  • "Sunda was absolutely fantastic. Staff is very knowledgable and friendly and entire restaurant runs extremely efficient. We at no point felt rushed and we in and out for dinner in 40 minutes. One of the best experiences I have ever had dining out. The sweet potato roll and brussel sprout salad were outstanding!"
    Dined on 3/20/2014
  • "We had high hopes going in and things started off strong with some tasty cocktails and excellent Tom Kha Gai soup - worth stopping in just for that. After that, the food and service became spotty. The signature crispy rice sushi, which features a piece of sushi rice that has been pan fried and topped with tuna, had an odd chewy-gleatinous texture. The broccoli salad was excellent. The Rock Shrimp Tempura and Pork Belly Skewers were OK, but really needed some more seasoning or a sipping sauce of some kind. We were building a meal of small, shared plates. Our waiter started taking longer and longer to return. Our plates would be finished and removed from the table to a while before he returned. Go to Roka across the street - you will eat well"
