  • The Best Food Baby I've Ever Had

If you have the opportunity to eat here, you will not be disappointed. I left with quite possibly the best food baby I could ever carry in my Food Womb. The ingredients are high quality, the waitstaff is very knowledgeable, and the hostess was interactive and not some seat-allocating machine. My family sat outside, and the only issue with that is the somewhat frequent MARTA bustin' all up in your conversation. **Order your coffee with Ghirardelli chocolate syrup. You'll thank me later.

Most recently I visited with my extended family of 16 for a birthday dinner. I chose the restaurant because the food is so amazing I will eat foods that I normally will not touch (like mushrooms). A very picky bunch was raving about all the food. I had booked with open table and had to put in 2 reservations of 8 people each to make it work. I called SIMB that afternoon to see if we could get tables near each other and was delighted to find that they had a beautiful table set and ready to go for the large group.

  • Not good for groups
    OpenTable Diner Since 2002
    Dined on 8/17/2014
There were several large groups when we dined, including my own. Despite reservations, my party felt forgotten from the start. We had to wait forever to be seated; then they put us in the way back by the exposed delivery area. So in addition to being hot and noisy, there was zero ambience, unlike all the pretty pictures posted on the restaurant's website. The server was mostly MIA; we had to flag another down for utensils. At least the food was good, though the portions were small. My French toast was literally 1 slice of toast.

We were seated for over twenty minutes and in that time our server hadn't even taken our drink order so we walked out. I did try stopping our server after she introduced herself to try and order a few drinks since she didn't even ask us if we wanted something to drink as usually happens when a server first visits a table, but she just walked away ignoring me. She disappeared for over ten minutes, and upon returning instead of coming to our table to take our order she continued to serve a large table of around 12 guests who had already finished eating, bringing them more drinks. She had to practically walk right up to our table while serving them and she didn't even look at us. She just basically ignored us. Also it was my birthday so no fun

  • Sunday "Jazz" Brunch

The food was excellent, I had the special of the day omelet, Gouda, Cauliflower, Zucchini, Red Onions(really good). I had the hashed potatoes (excellent) and honey bacon(which didn't seem cooked, so I ate some before I realized it might not be). My niece had the PBLT and she loved it. The Jazz was a little disappointing, just a guy playing an electric guitar, he was good and played the entire time we were there, it's just I expected Jazz to be trio with brass and bass. So it was just a matter of expectations other than that the restaurant was good.

The food and service were quite good, but the noise level at Sunday brunch was so extreme that our table of six had to practically shout at each other in order to be heard. Not only were people talking too loud, but rather loud music was being played which further created problems. When we asked the manager what could be done about this situation, she became defensive, saying that people liked the ambiance. I would completely disagree. She did eventually turn down the music, but because of the noise level, I would not dine there again. I am a consultant that often deals with acoustical situations in churches, and I explained that some simply soundproofing tiles placed on the ceiling would fix the problem.

We've been going to Sun In My Belly since it opened, so I suppose you could consider us regulars. The staff is always so friendly, so pleasant... in fact, nearly everything about the place - the environment, the food, the service - is absolutely just right. It has become a favourite neighbourhood "comfy place". The Kirkwood Breakfast, featuring fresh eggs scrambled with herbed boursin, is so good, you'll find yourself craving it. Seriously, those eggs are narcotic. The french toast is gorgeous, festooned with seasonal fruit and berries, the salads inventive and fresh... I could go on... we've never had a bad meal there, ever. Ah-- and they have the best coffee ever. I mean it: you won't find a better cuppa for brunch anywhere.

We have friends who love this restaurant so my expectations were high and, unfortunately, we're not met. The waiter was completely disengaged and disinterested. My son's meal came about 8 minutes after the other meals making us think that the waiter had not put the order in. My wine was not cold enough. When I asked a question about the wine the waiter seemed put off. Although the vegetables were cooked beautifully, they were overwhelmingly garlicky. This was preferable though to my bland fried chicken which was under seasoned and completely lacking in flavor. The best part of the meal was my sin's ravioli (from the kids' menu) interestingly enough. Maybe this was unusual but I would not go back or recommend to anyone.

I used to live in Atlanta and SIMB was always a favorite weekend indulgence, so when I visited recently for a special occasion I wanted to take my close friends and family there for Sunday brunch. SIMB usually has a long line, which is not great for all the old grandmas I had with me, but I discovered this trip that it's actually possible to make a reservation now, which is a wonderful addition to their already awesome process. We walked right in, waited only briefly, and then our big group sat away from the main dining room (also great for old, hard-of-hearing grandmas). Service was top notch, food was spectacular. SIMB NEVER disappoints.

After driving past Sun in My Belly cafe many times I finally decided I should try it. My husband & I were absolutely blown away ! The food was about the best we've had at any local eatery we've been to. And we've been to many in the Avondale/Decatur & Atlanta areas. Sun in My Belly had it all - delicious food first of all - I had the short ribs & my hubby had the grilled pork chop. So very yummy - I even tried to copy at home the Brussel sprout slaw that I had with my dinner - came close but theirs can't be beat. The service was excellent and the ambience was nice. We will be back soon and we definitely recommend Sun in My Belly as a go to eatery for some of the best food around.

Even with all of the hype from my friends, it still blew me away. The food and atmosphere were amazing! I've never had a good experience here for breakfast. The food is sloppy, the service too busy to get what you need. That being said, I tried out dinner on Saturday night, and found it a much more enjoyable experience. There was no wait at 8:30, the food came out fast, and the wine list was good and reasonably priced. I would return, for dinner, but not breakfast.

We had a party of 8, took quite awhile for a server to be sent our way to take orders. She tried to memorize the orders which was a mistake. She had to ask repeatedly what we ordered and still messed up an order. Food was good, not sure it was worth the wait (long wait time to order and long wait time to receive food). Also music playing was nice but too loud.

This is our second time in the last month. We had a wonderful time with our family (my wife, our son and daughter and I). This time the decision was made by management to seat a party of 12+ in the middle of the main dining area. As with any party of the size it became very loud making it very difficult for my wife and I to hear one another sitting across a small two seat table. It was great to see such a large group enjoying themselves, but it impossible for us to find any enjoyment in the experience. The food was very good both times, but based on this experience, I will not be back soon.

We'd all wanted to check out SIMB but not living close to Decatur hadn't had a chance til now. Great little laid back place with a really diverse menu. We shared each other's dishes to get a full array - crab cakes, PBLT (pimiento cheese, bacon, lettuce, fried green tomato - yum) beef short rib. All so tasty. Veggies were great to. The short rib was a tiny bit dry but still flavorful. And the fried chicken next to us looked scrumptious. We finished with a great cream cheese crème brulee. Mmm. They only have beer and wine but I think you can still BYO hard stuff. BTW, you'll note it's more reasonable to just get a bottle of wine if more than one is having it because the bottle prices are so reasonable.

We usually love to come here for breakfast which is amazing and the servers are awesome in the morning, so we decided to try dinner as a special Father's Day outing. The food was amazing but the service was terrible. The waitress frequented every table but ours and we had to get the hostess to find and notify the waitress that we needed her (by the way, the hostess was great, she was very helpful and tried to help out when she could). We were going to order dessert but after having to endure being ignored for our entire meal, and being made to wait for even little things like the check at the end of the night (we sat right by the register by the way so the long wait was odd) we had to go elsewhere.

When the food came it was lukewarm but the plates were piping hot. The food was delicious but not enticing enough to brave sitting at a table for an hour waiting again.

The wine and beer selections were good, the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese were very good. The entrees (meatloaf and grilled shrimp wrapped in prosciutto) were a little starch heavy and unbalanced and both needed more vegetables. The service was just plain bad. It took our server forever to get to us (and he only had one other table), another long wait to get our drinks. We ordered an appetizer with our drinks and waited to order entrees -- it took forever to get our appetizer and then our dinner came 30 seconds after our app. So then dinner had to sit under a heat lamp, which didn't do the shrimp any favors. Our empty plates sat in front of us for a good long while. We went because we had a gift card and I can't see going back.

The food is delicious, the service staff very knowledgable, the exposed brick and big windows give the space a marvelous feel. If only the tables were comfortable. They're tiny, rickety and have cross bars that go right in front of your ankles -- ouch! The chairs aren't much better. The minute I hear they've replace the tables, I'll be a regular, because I love every OTHER aspect of this place. But eating a leisurely meal in discomfort -- just not worth it.
