Went here for a first date. Once I let the staff know this, they where attentive with the right touch of service and space. The meal was timely and delicious, as customary. Definitely will go back. My date a first timer to Belly, was happy with her food choice, it's taste and the service, which made me happy. Thanks Belly!

  • Former hardware store has the tools for great meal

Located in a former hardware store in the Kirkwood neighborhood of Atlanta, Sun in My Belly Cafe routinely has lines around the block for brunch. *I* think the best time though is dinner on a weeknight when the cafe isn't as crowded and a meal with friends, colleagues, or on your own can be enjoyed in a more leisurely manner. The ambiance is friendly and low key, the food is pretty to look at and even yummier to eat, and the service is attentive. I wish they had a larger (than single) vegetarian selection on the standard menu as that can be a problem if they are out of it, as happened on a recent visit, but even that isn't a deal breaker because, as their menu states, the staff are happy to provide foods that aren't on the menu if you want some favorite 'comfort food' or have dietary restrictions.

We went here for dinner for the first time this week. Definitely not just a brunch spot. The dinner menu is very reasonably priced compared to other Atlanta restaurants of similar quality. The food was great from salads to dessert. Service (Kevin) was great and the meal was paced properly. We will be back.

The fried chicken was very good and the greens had great flavor and the dish was well-presented. The macaroni and cheese, however, had little flavor. Excellent beer list as well and the service was just right. Nice restaurant. We'll be back.

Sun has become one of my favorite "go-to" restaurants when I am in the area. I have taken clients for business lunch on several occasions, many of whom report returning for weekend brunch. On this occasion, I took my spouse there for our 22nd Anniversary. Neither of us were disappointed with the daily appetizer (jar) or the salmon and vegetable plate we ordered. (Apologies, neither of us drink alcohol or had room for dessert... although there was an extensive list/offering of wines with suggested food pairings as well as interesting sweet options.)

the service was extremely slow by design to send a message to our table because we wanted to and did add 3 seats to our table. we had reserv for 6:15 and arrived at 6pm, the appetizers were served at 7:10, entrees served at 8:00. no one complained. we sat there and watch them serve food to every table in the room. no one explained the reason for the slow service but kept refilling the empty water glasses. just before we asked for the check the manager came over to our table and apologized for the slow service and thanked us for our patience. we were the first to arrive and the last to be served. had it not been a birthday dinner i would have walked out before the appetizers finally arrived. appetizers were tasty the entrees were so so.

My husband had the Supper Club plate; stuffed Cornish game hen, salad, desert, all very nice. I ordered the flank steak and asked for it to be cooked medium rare to medium -it was served grey and tasted livery (meat marinated in garlic can sometimes taste that way). I never ever turn away mashed or pureed potatoes. Whatever happened to these, but it was a bad idea. They were glue-y and tasted of flour, with chunks of potato in them - very unpleasant. The salads were good, the desert was tasty. The wine pairings were fine - a little overpriced. Our server Mike was very good.

Delicious food and did not disappoint once you were able to find the place. At first glance it looks seedy, but it was cozy, quaint and a great find. The service was a bit sub standard with long waits between tabke visits. Otherwise there will be more sun in my belly in the future.

Sun in My Belly was worth the trip for our family of 4 (plus 2). It's never an easy task to go 20+ minutes to grab brunch with a 4 y/o and a 4 m/o but everything was worth it. Food was very good (and priced right w/ good portion sizes) and the staff treated us very well (usually not the case when kids are in tow). If you're looking for a fun brunch spot with good food, get there early (or make a reservation if you have 6 or more in your party).

This was our second visit to Sun In My Belly and we will definitely be back. It's a quiet restaurant and not fancy but it's very inviting. Three of the four of us had the tri-color beet appetizer (on flatbread) and we all agreed it was outstanding. The flank steak was quite tasty. My wife had the pork chop which was a bit fatty but very good. One of us had a salad which was good but not remarkable. The wine list is limited but recently they had a Steltzner Claret the we enjoyed. The service was attentive and Bethany (manager?) solicited our opinions of the various items we had. Although the restaurant was fairly busy it was easy to have a conversation (another reason to like SIMB). In short, we liked it and so did our friends.

We found the rather small dinner menu disappointing. It also lacked healthy "normal" choices except a veggie plate. The chef, as seems to be a trend, feels the need to try to make each dish "exotic". The results means less people will find it enjoyable. The pork I had was a bit tough due to being cooked well. If you cook a thick pork chop so it has some pink at the center (OK in today's world), it is more tender and not as dry. The tart cherry topping was very good. The kale had a strong garlic flavor, which might turn some off. The sweet potato side was also very good.

If you have the opportunity to eat here, you will not be disappointed. I left with quite possibly the best food baby I could ever carry in my Food Womb. The ingredients are high quality, the waitstaff is very knowledgeable, and the hostess was interactive and not some seat-allocating machine. My family sat outside, and the only issue with that is the somewhat frequent MARTA bustin' all up in your conversation. **Order your coffee with Ghirardelli chocolate syrup. You'll thank me later.

Most recently I visited with my extended family of 16 for a birthday dinner. I chose the restaurant because the food is so amazing I will eat foods that I normally will not touch (like mushrooms). A very picky bunch was raving about all the food. I had booked with open table and had to put in 2 reservations of 8 people each to make it work. I called SIMB that afternoon to see if we could get tables near each other and was delighted to find that they had a beautiful table set and ready to go for the large group.

There were several large groups when we dined, including my own. Despite reservations, my party felt forgotten from the start. We had to wait forever to be seated; then they put us in the way back by the exposed delivery area. So in addition to being hot and noisy, there was zero ambience, unlike all the pretty pictures posted on the restaurant's website. The server was mostly MIA; we had to flag another down for utensils. At least the food was good, though the portions were small. My French toast was literally 1 slice of toast.

We were seated for over twenty minutes and in that time our server hadn't even taken our drink order so we walked out. I did try stopping our server after she introduced herself to try and order a few drinks since she didn't even ask us if we wanted something to drink as usually happens when a server first visits a table, but she just walked away ignoring me. She disappeared for over ten minutes, and upon returning instead of coming to our table to take our order she continued to serve a large table of around 12 guests who had already finished eating, bringing them more drinks. She had to practically walk right up to our table while serving them and she didn't even look at us. She just basically ignored us. Also it was my birthday so no fun

The food was excellent, I had the special of the day omelet, Gouda, Cauliflower, Zucchini, Red Onions(really good). I had the hashed potatoes (excellent) and honey bacon(which didn't seem cooked, so I ate some before I realized it might not be). My niece had the PBLT and she loved it. The Jazz was a little disappointing, just a guy playing an electric guitar, he was good and played the entire time we were there, it's just I expected Jazz to be trio with brass and bass. So it was just a matter of expectations other than that the restaurant was good.

The food and service were quite good, but the noise level at Sunday brunch was so extreme that our table of six had to practically shout at each other in order to be heard. Not only were people talking too loud, but rather loud music was being played which further created problems. When we asked the manager what could be done about this situation, she became defensive, saying that people liked the ambiance. I would completely disagree. She did eventually turn down the music, but because of the noise level, I would not dine there again. I am a consultant that often deals with acoustical situations in churches, and I explained that some simply soundproofing tiles placed on the ceiling would fix the problem.

We've been going to Sun In My Belly since it opened, so I suppose you could consider us regulars. The staff is always so friendly, so pleasant... in fact, nearly everything about the place - the environment, the food, the service - is absolutely just right. It has become a favourite neighbourhood "comfy place". The Kirkwood Breakfast, featuring fresh eggs scrambled with herbed boursin, is so good, you'll find yourself craving it. Seriously, those eggs are narcotic. The french toast is gorgeous, festooned with seasonal fruit and berries, the salads inventive and fresh... I could go on... we've never had a bad meal there, ever. Ah-- and they have the best coffee ever. I mean it: you won't find a better cuppa for brunch anywhere.

We have friends who love this restaurant so my expectations were high and, unfortunately, we're not met. The waiter was completely disengaged and disinterested. My son's meal came about 8 minutes after the other meals making us think that the waiter had not put the order in. My wine was not cold enough. When I asked a question about the wine the waiter seemed put off. Although the vegetables were cooked beautifully, they were overwhelmingly garlicky. This was preferable though to my bland fried chicken which was under seasoned and completely lacking in flavor. The best part of the meal was my sin's ravioli (from the kids' menu) interestingly enough. Maybe this was unusual but I would not go back or recommend to anyone.
