Diner Reviews
  • "I've never had a good experience here for breakfast. The food is sloppy, the service too busy to get what you need. That being said, I tried out dinner on Saturday night, and found it a much more enjoyable experience. There was no wait at 8:30, the food came out fast, and the wine list was good and reasonably priced. I would return, for dinner, but not breakfast."

  • "We had a party of 8, took quite awhile for a server to be sent our way to take orders. She tried to memorize the orders which was a mistake. She had to ask repeatedly what we ordered and still messed up an order. Food was good, not sure it was worth the wait (long wait time to order and long wait time to receive food). Also music playing was nice but too loud."

  • "Took a group of friends here and was treated to some of the best service I've ever seen in Atlanta. Great afternoon brunch/lunch spot!"

  • "This is our second time in the last month. We had a wonderful time with our family (my wife, our son and daughter and I). This time the decision was made by management to seat a party of 12+ in the middle of the main dining area. As with any party of the size it became very loud making it very difficult for my wife and I to hear one another sitting across a small two seat table. It was great to see such a large group enjoying themselves, but it impossible for us to find any enjoyment in the experience. The food was very good both times, but based on this experience, I will not be back soon."

  • "We'd all wanted to check out SIMB but not living close to Decatur hadn't had a chance til now. Great little laid back place with a really diverse menu. We shared each other's dishes to get a full array - crab cakes, PBLT (pimiento cheese, bacon, lettuce, fried green tomato - yum) beef short rib. All so tasty. Veggies were great to. The short rib was a tiny bit dry but still flavorful. And the fried chicken next to us looked scrumptious. We finished with a great cream cheese crème brulee. Mmm. They only have beer and wine but I think you can still BYO hard stuff. BTW, you'll note it's more reasonable to just get a bottle of wine if more than one is having it because the bottle prices are so reasonable."

  • "Good food @ reasonable price(s), I would have appreciated larger portions BUT it was worthy of 4 *'s!"

  • "Had dinner with friends I hadn't seen in a while. The server was very patient while we chatted before ordering. Gave us all the time we needed and answered questions about the menu with some good recommendations. Menu was a splendid mix of old/new. Food was first rate and price reasonable."

  • "Food, ambiance, and service are top-knotch! A pleasure to experience. Noise level is energetic at peak times. Quieter in front dining room."

  • "A hole in the wall tucked away in an old Decatur neighborhood, but lovely inside. Good food, nice atmosphere. Will definitely go again. Would like more vegetarian choices."

  • "Our reservation was for 10a and we didn't get our food until 11a which is a looooong time if you have kids with you which we did. The waitress was nice but didn't check on us during the wait. When the food came it was lukewarm but the plates were piping hot. The food was delicious but not enticing enough to brave sitting at a table for an hour waiting again."

  • "We usually love to come here for breakfast which is amazing and the servers are awesome in the morning, so we decided to try dinner as a special Father's Day outing. The food was amazing but the service was terrible. The waitress frequented every table but ours and we had to get the hostess to find and notify the waitress that we needed her (by the way, the hostess was great, she was very helpful and tried to help out when she could). We were going to order dessert but after having to endure being ignored for our entire meal, and being made to wait for even little things like the check at the end of the night (we sat right by the register by the way so the long wait was odd) we had to go elsewhere."

  • "I can't even begin to express how much I love this place. I went here a few months back due to a friend's recommendation. I ended up falling in love with it and choosing it as the location for my birthday dinner. It was so good. The service was amazing. The food was beyond amazing. We ended up staying until they closed and no one rushed us out. It was lovely."

  • "The whole place is too warm. My friends ordered beer and they were warm. A waiter knocked our table and the beer bottle fell over the food. We are quite disappointed. We are most likely won't go back."

  • "Very casual dining experience, but with food that would make you think that you were in an extremely expensive five star restaurant. Very quaint atmosphere with exceptional service."

  • "The wine and beer selections were good, the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese were very good. The entrees (meatloaf and grilled shrimp wrapped in prosciutto) were a little starch heavy and unbalanced and both needed more vegetables. The service was just plain bad. It took our server forever to get to us (and he only had one other table), another long wait to get our drinks. We ordered an appetizer with our drinks and waited to order entrees -- it took forever to get our appetizer and then our dinner came 30 seconds after our app. So then dinner had to sit under a heat lamp, which didn't do the shrimp any favors. Our empty plates sat in front of us for a good long while. We went because we had a gift card and I can't see going back."

  • "Good food, but the service was spotty and some of the dishes missed the mark in my opinion. I was insulted by the way they did the Shrimp and Grits, butthen I also come from savannah ga where we take pride in the fine art of such a lovely classic southern dish...funky fun place nevertheless, and I will return to check on their progress..."

  • "I went here for Easter brunch and thought it was amazing, so I decided to bring my family back this weekend. The food was incredible, the service was amazing, and they did a fantastic job accommodating our group of 10. Definitely now one of my favorite places in Atlanta."

  • "Sun in My Belly is an amazing gem of a dinner cafe tucked away on the northern end of Edgewood on College Avenue. The food is amazing. I thought I'd be adventurous and try their scallops ... I say "adventurous" because I like neither cranberries or beets, and both ingredients played a role in this dish ... I must say the adventure was well worth it! The scallops were simply amazing, and, to my surprise, the beet puree is what really set the dish apart. I've previously also tried their salmon, which was near equally as amazing. The ambiance is romantic while still being friendly. It's great for dates, friends, and even families. SIMB is also an amazing value. The food quality is what one might expect at a restaurant twice as expensive."

  • "Very pleasant dinner with my partner for our anniversary. We sat outside, but it started to rain, so we went inside where it was a bit dark but overall nice. Scallops were good; so was the salmon. Greens with salmon were a bit too chewy. Desserts were great - I had the Pavlova and she had creme brulee. Altogether a nice, low-key dinner. I will definitely come back."

  • "We went directly from work for an early dinner and arrive at 6:15 to find the place almost empty. Filled up quickly, service was really good and the fried chicken to-die-for! Nice pairings of wine or beer list for each entree. Nice touch."

  • "From the dishes to the decor, this is a cozy, creative, and calming spot--at any time of the day. When I moved to town, I heard how great brunch could be here...and experienced it for myself. Once I gave dinner a try (via the great Scoutmob deal), this place became an all-around favorite. The same creative spark added to straight-ahead classic dishes at brunch carries over--and then some. The prices are more than modest for the Atlanta dining scene, and the service has always been friendly and prompt. A couple of favorites: Fried green tomatoes are a great take on a classic treat. The pork chop is one of the best southern plates I've eaten in town as paired with sweet potatoes/greens. Great beer/wine pairings on a thoughtful list. "

  • "We tried Sun in my Belly because we had a great Scoutmob hand-picked deal but we'll be back. I had braised lamb shank and my husband had a pork dish - both were wonderful! As were the Cesar and Geisha salads. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, the service was very good. We are planning to return to try their brunch. "

  • "This neighborhood gem elevates southern cuisine to fine dining . Three of us opted for the flank steak served over garlic mashed potatoes and well seasoned spinach. My wife had the fried chicken with mac and cheese along with delicious collards. Everyone at the table was extremely happy with their entrees. I knew I forgot something: we started with the mussels in a rich broth and incredible fried green tomatoes covered in pimento cheese. Both apps were delicious. We have been here before and loved it but our friends were new and now converted to Belly lovers."

  • "While there are some good dishes (like the fried chicken) and prices are very reasonable, be prepared for loud music, spotty service (they are understaffed on busy nights), and uneven food."

  • "I had the salmon, the seasonal salad, a house red, and the raspberry cake for dessert. Although the salmon came with couscous, not the advertized miso, it was as delicious and perfectly prepared as when I've had it in the past. The seasonal salad was great, especially since it included goat cheese. My friend wanted the mushroom ravioli (which is my favorite entree), but they were out of it, and instead brought a different mushroom pasta dish that was not quite as good. My friend and I shared the raspberry cake, and it was a perfect ending to a great meal."

  • "Always enjoy dinner here. We usually do not go on the weekend, so it does get noisy when the place is full (as it was this time). Service was a little slow with a full restaurant, but the food was prepared well. "

  • "Enjoyed our experience. Good wine. Attentive service. Two different dishes - one excellent and one so-so. really liked the relaxed atmosphere. We'll find a time to go back, even though it's a pretty long trip."

  • "The food is the STAR here! Excellent variety and all well prepared. The best meatloaf and mashed potatoes you will ever taste....even better than my wife's! The fried chicken looked delicious, so will return to try that. Helpful wait staff as well."

  • "Really enjoyed the meal. We shared crab cakes for a starter. Entrees were short ribs and scallops. Delicious. The only real complaint is the teeny tiny tables they have for 2 people. The design prevents you from being able to get your legs comfortably positioned under the table. And we are not large people. But that would'nt keep us away. Food is great!"

  • "My friend and I wanted a place where the food was good, not too expensive, quiet enough for us to talk. yet at the same time lively in its own way. This restaurant met these wishes very well. We also liked the live acoustic guitar, which was very skillful and nice to listen to, and not so loud that you could not chat with your dining mate. It would be nice if desserts from the adjoining bakery room would be offered automatically. My dairy-averse friend could not order either dessert offered, so she asked for and received a delicious cookie from the bakery."
