  • "In from out of state, hotel lady recommended this place. Glad she did!! Best seafood of anywhere we ate during our week long Visit. Highly recommended!!"

  • "Delicious smelts, outstanding spring soup, perfectly cooked fish! If you haven't yet, EAT HERE! Ask to sit in Emanuel's section; he is an outstanding server with an easy smile and attention to diner's needs."

  • "With the winter we had, it feels good to select from a menu that reminds one of summer...lobsters, fried clams, fresh fish. Food is always good and service staff can't do enough....."

  • "I have enjoyed the Cambridge Summer Shack restaurant for years. The décor, spirit, service and food were very good. There was always a bit of the beach feel - dining in the rough, great seafood, lots of fun. Unfortunately, the Dedham Summer Shack has little of this. The décor is like upscale Denny's. There is no dining-in-the-rough feeling ala Woodman's (Essex). The fisherman's platter was a bit skimpy. The fried clams were not crispy, the fried shrimp too dry and the fish tasteless. The fries were soggy, the chowder thin. The calamari was tender but the coating too soggy. On the bright side, the wait staff were energetic, efficient and pleasant, the oysters were fabulous, and the sound level comfortable. Eat at the Cambridge Summer Shack."

  • "The Summer Shack is a wonderful place to get great seafood, the appetizers are fantastic, the lobster is delicious and the variety of the menu is perfect for everyone young and old. This is a great find. Go and Enjoy."

  • "Always have liked Summer Shack, but it seems like they are not paying so much attention. Food was OK, but underwhelming. Worst part was the music - it was like someone's bad workout music - AC/DC, Eye of the Tiger, all played much too loud."

  • "The food was tasteless and expensive. I think the lobster haddock pie may have been previously frozen. The price was an absolute disgrace!!!"

  • "My husband grew up eating seafood and wanted to go here for his birthday. I obliged, though I don't eat seafood and found few dishes on the menu for me. He ordered a spicy seafood soup which he loved! He also ordered another seafood and rice dish- though this was bland . I ordered the wings which were not crispy and had a very strong sauce on them. Next came a burger that tasted like nothing! The beer selection was good, the waiter attentive and the manager gave a free sample while we waited! However, for the price and taste- we walked away wishing we just made the trek to Federal Hill in Providence where we would have spent the same but had wonderful food ! Next time that is what we will do- we won't be back to the Summer Shack!"

  • "They do not offer commonly found fish like swordfish, salmon, cod, or even tuna on their daily menu. They had mahi mahi, blue fish, and red snapper and given the prices, not something you want to try for the first time. Most of their seafood is pre-seasoned so if you can't consume spices, like me, they'll offer you haddock, that's it. Check the menu before you go. The haddock I did get was excellent as was the coconut rice and the near-perfect corn, which is out of season. In my reservation I asked if they had a small yellow (or white) birthday cake. I never brought it up to the server but after dinner he brought over a slice of chocolate flourless cake."

  • "While the food was excellent, the restaurant was somewhat on the noisey side from the piped-in music. And, I felt the server should've been more forth-coming with information about drink prices."

  • "Great fresh seafood, either grilled or fried. Great local place to take out of town guests to get their "fix" of lobster & fried clams, and the kids can draw on the tables with crayons & get chicken fingers or a burger."

  • "it was a good value. the food was ezcellent recommend the bbq ribs and the monk fish."

  • "Second time here at the Dedham location, and such a disappointment. Ordered the Jasper lobster 2lb, served to my husband undercooked. Had a soft mushy texture. Lost his appetite right away. Oysters, I'm not sure if they were actually serving us what we ordered. Wellfleets are my favorite, and I'm almost sure they weren't as deep or tasted as such. The manager was great. He offered us another lobster on the house and desert as well. Still, it just ruined the whole dining night."

  • "My wife and I decided to re-visit Summer Shack, a local seafood restaurant in Dedham this past Monday night. We found the place quiet with only a few diners. We both ordered fish (mussels, flounder). Both dishes were generous and well-prepared. The waitress was friendly and very attentive to our needs. We look forward to going again soon."

  • "My sweetie and I had dinner at the Summer Shack in Dedham late one Friday night - about 9:00pm. No special ocassion. We both enjoyed our food ... I had the clams with bellies which were delicious. I dont have anything bad to say ... it was just dinner and it was good. I dont live close to Dedham so I dont know when I'll be back - we only ended up at the Summer Shack because I wanted clams and the spot we usually go to on the South Shore was closed for the winter. Summer Shack was a good substitute."

  • "We enjoyed out dinner here. My sister who is in love seafood, she had 23oysters!! The waiter was kind and made us feel really comfortable!! We went back following week again. This place is my favorite now!! Crabs were so fresh too :)"

  • "This was our first time dining here and the food was great. For starters we got clam chowder and oysters both were good. The clam chowder was just the right amount of cream. My husband got the Maki special and I got the Haddock both were fresh, but the Maki was a little skimpy. My daughter got the calamari and was very tender and flavorful would definitely get this again. If you are looking for fresh seafood this is the place to go."

  • "not the shack of the past. staff who struggled to explain mahi-mahi, a two hour meal and a lingering "balloon artist". you can find a better meal and experience somewhere else."

  • "Summer Shack continues to provide a creative menu that is well executed. New to the menu was their poke appetizer that was very fresh, light and flavorful marinated tuna, well seasoned and very enjoyable. I enjoyed their new bacon-wrapped haddock that featured fresh haddock, perfectly done, with a meaty flavor added by the bacon. The fish was accompanied by a flavorful mushroom sauce and mashed potatoes. My wife enjoyed the pan seared cod with sides of fresh vegetables and squash. Everything was served hot and fresh. We also enjoyed the Indian Pudding with softserve ice cream. The tab including some drinks was $47 per person excluding tip, reasonable value for money. Summer Shack continues to be a solid performer."

  • "Went to summer shack for first time. Did not live up to owners billing. Service was fair, steak tips were fair to good, came with very few french fries. Definitely better places to spend 100 for a dinner for 2."

  • "The seafood dishes, service, and price point met AND exceeded expectations. We were a party of 11-with folks from out of town that wanted seafood. Waiter and kitchen did not hesitate (or miss a beat) with "When Harry met Sally" ordering styles. Highlights included bluefish, scrod, mahi mahi, fried clam bellies, crab cakes, and sweet potato fries, chowder... BTW the Malbec on the wine list was really good."

  • "everything was booked until late and summer shack gave us 7:30 so we jumped at it. What a lucky find. The food was fabulous, top of the mountain. Loved the salmon with roasted squash and salad greens!! Every dish was inventive!! loved it. Oysters were outstanding."

  • "Our service in Dedham was incredibly slow. The mussels appetizer with garlic and herbs was excellent, but our meals were only fair. I had the salmon special. The salmon was cooked nicely but the piece was very thin. My husband had the fisherman's platter and the amount of food on the plate could hardly be called ample. He had exactly 2 fried clams, two meager pieces of thin fried fish, and a few shrimp. It was mostly fries and not very appetizing to look at. For the price this was definitely not worth a second visit."

  • "My husband and I are regular diners at the Csmbridge Summer Shack and the Dedham location has a long way to go to meet those standards. We were a big party and the server seemed overwhelmed. Food was at best fair. Parking, although available was difficult to find."
