  • "First of all the martini was less than usual. When we complained that the martini was not full, the manager came to our table. He said that the former management "overpoured" the drinks. We said "you should use smaller glasses then.." It is ridiculous to pay top dollar for a martini and it comes to 2/3 of the glass. Even our server commented that the drinks have changed since she first started. She remembered the martinis being to the top of the glass. The steak was not hot and the plate was cold. The wedge salad (always great) was disappointing. Our server was very good. Sadly, the only good part about our dinner was our server."

  • "As a steakhouse the food is very consistent as I have been to a '"sister" facility in Tucson, Arizona. Our group found the waitstaff to be friendly and knowledgeable. However the noise level was a bit over-the-top. When in Palm Springs again I would revisit this restaurant."

  • "Sullivan's is a popular spot; both the restaurant and bar were busy. The noise level is high, which detracts from having a nice dinner where you can hear your table companions without straining. The bass from the music in the bar was always in the background. The food was delivered as ordered and was good, but the filets were obviously not of the caliber of Flemings or Ruth's Chris steaks. Still, they were cooked medium rare and tender. We ordered the prie fixe menu, which is by far the best deal. As we are not dessert eaters, we liked that the prie fixe menu is appetizer, salad or soup, and entree. Most restaurants skip the appetizer and include dessert."

  • "Service was friendly, but the food wasn't quite up to what we would expect for the price."

  • "Had a reservation and we did not get seated until about 45 minutes late. We did find a seat in the bar however and the entertainment there was very good, and we were not in a hurry, so it was fine."

  • "Our dining experience was a pleasant surprise. We ordered their 3 course price fixed menu, which includes appetizer, soup or salad , entree and a side. The shrimp cocktail and calamari appetizers were excellent. Their onion soup is truly " the best". The only negative is the sound experience. It could be the noisiest restaurant I've ever experienced. If that doesn't bother you, then enjoy a fabulous meal."

  • "My husband remembered their great oysters Rockefeller, so after being away from home for a while we decided to go. Unfortunately they are no longer on the menu. We both had the trio dinner....he had the Strip Steak and I had the 6oz Filet. Our dinners we very good. Drinks were good, but wine was $13.00 per glass. The one downside was that they put the tables so close together that you were on top of each other, but the dining room does look nice since the renovation."

  • "Our first trip to Sullivan's in Palm Desert was delightful. The food was great, The GM , Keith came to our table to chat with us and our waitress was wonderful. Great restaurant!"

  • "They stuffed took many extra tables in for Valentine's Day. A waiter dropped some food on the floor right next to us, splattered on us and said nothing. Food was OK, but they ruined the romatic feel by overcrowding the place."

  • "after a recent remodel, this location is quite bright. the service was great. food was ok. from prior experience at other restaurants, this location needs to change their frying oil. Either that or they overcooked our calamari and steakhouse rolls."

  • "Made a reservation here despite a few mixed reviews, and I'm sorry I didn't pay closer attention to them. If you're looking for a lively bar scene, with loud music, you might like this place. But if you're looking for a serious steak, go elsewhere. We decided to brave the noise level and the busy atmosphere. But when we found out none of the steaks offered were not prime, we decided to leave after our cocktails. A big disappointment, especially at those prices, and just a big mistake. We felt relieved to get out of there,"

  • "we really enjoyed the food at this restaurant the server was nice but didn't know the menu well at all, fumbled with specials and how to describe things as simple as their regular sauces etc. had little recommendations, slow to check on us etc. we'd go back for the food but the service might be deter us as it was annoying to not have the answers we wanted about the menu. bar had good live music, noisy but good vibe.."

  • "We were so disappointed in Sullivan's as a " dining experience"... The bar was absolutely jam-packed to the point it was ridiculous...between the extremely loud band& crush of customers, we couldn't wait to get out of there The dining rm wasn't much better ...however, we were amazed at the service...excellent! They were very friendly, efficient, & patient! Food was better than fair, certainly not " excellent ....conversation impossible.. Will not return"

  • "We enjoyed a delicious meal at Sullivan's Palm Desert. They recently renovated the whole restaurant to accommodate more people. It's very contemporary but honestly the restaurant was so packed we had a hard time hearing our dinner guests across the table because the atmosphere was incredibly LOUD. It is the height of season and spring break so will definitely choose a less popular time to go in the future -- like in the middle of summer."

  • "We have been here several times, and they never disappoint. The food was great (Steaks!), the cocktails just right and the service was great. The manager Keith stopped to chat and was very friendly also."

  • "Wow! An overall great experience. The staff were exceptionally attentive but not a nuisance. The food was served hot, not luke warm as it should be. The taste was superior to other restaurants we had visited with similar or same menu items. The ambiance was great! We had reservations and went right in. I do recommend reservations. Everyone was friendly. My wife and I will definitely be back soon."

  • "Fun atmosphere and pleasant service the egg rolls and salad were great steak was very good and wine selection pleasant would highly recommend for a pleasant dinner with a group that would not break the bank. Salad now has a small charge instead of being included with steak"

  • "SOOOO loud...not the quiet romantic steakhouse I was thinking it would be so we were completely thrown off guard by the noise level. It was so loud I could not even hear my husband talk to me from across the table."

  • "Very happy with remodel. Food and service was excellent. Loved the new menu. We will definitely come back."

  • "Tried the filet this time - normally have the rib eye. Filet was good; however rib eye is better. Had the wedge salad - which was great as always. Mom had the French onion soup, which was also good. Friends shared mac and cheese as well as cauliflower. For some reason, the service wasn't up to usual standard of excellence. Past experience has the staff being friendly, efficient and unobtrusive. Tonight, service was just efficient. Restaurant was busy, but not overly so. Will definitely come back as it is still one of the best places to dine in Palm Desert when one is after an excellent steak."

  • "Too many "managers" coming by the table, interfering conversation, to introduce themselves, and create annoying conversation about where were we from, what brought us in, how long we were to be in town! Really? I finally was able to cut off the next "manager's interference by asking her for some butter! Phew ! All of this AFTER, the wait person read the whole menu to us! This restaurant spends way too much time at your table. :("

  • "What made this so exceptional was the service. Our server, made us feel like we were the only table in the place - she would act before we thought of a need. I have ordered the same drink for years, rarely is it prepared the way I like, and never is the second or third the way I ordered it - not the case this time, she got everything right. The food was delicious, from appetizers to desert."

  • "We have been going to Sullivans for years and gradually they made the menu worse, taking off good items and replacing them with not so good to bad items while raising the prices. (For years it was my favorite restaurant in the desert, and being from Chicago, I know restaurants!) This time we were surprised to see they had redecorated in the same way - taking a sophisticated look to a fancy pancake house look. The entry was the only improvement. The rest of the place reminded me of coffee shops from back home. The pricing and the atmosphere are no longer compatible. They used to include a salad with a meal. They took that off claiming they lowered the prices but I don't think so given the prices. We won't be going back."

  • "Our party of five was not seated until well after our reservation time. The hot appetizers were cold, the server forgot one of the appetizers, the 2008 vintage wine on the wine list came as a later vintage with the question, "Oh...were you partial to a 2008 cabernet?" Well, I was partial to the wine I selected from the list at the price quoted. The dinners were so-so, and the coffee was cold. There are plenty of other better restaurants in the desert."

  • "HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE. ASK FOR MATTHEW, TERRIFIC WAITER, FUN, PERSONABLE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE MENU. KRISTIN IS A CONSCIENTIOUS MANAGER AND MAKES IT A POINT TO VISIT EACH TABLE TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE IS SATISFIED WITH THE FOOD AND SERVICE."

  • "Had the prefix, just the right amount of food, full but not stuffed. Everything was delicious and the filet was perfect, the service was excellent"

  • "service was good and the staff were willing to help. the kitchen was not good on adjusting service delivery even though the meal is ale carte. could not get an appetizer with the main course, resulting in a cold appetizer waiting for the main dish. when the main dish arrived it was a large plate with a chunk of meat in the middle. servicing's were very large, and toppings overpowered the dishes, no subtleties to the flavours. Steak was overcooked, got well done steak when i ordered medium rare."

  • "I have been going there for a number of months. Each time I go there, there are new servers. Some were trained and talented, others marginal. The one we had this past visit was clearly not trained. He could not answer questions about the menu. For example, the question of what is the difference between dry aged NY & regular aging.........after stumbling with words, he said it's more "briny"...yikes!!! When I asked him if it was more succulent, his answer revealed he didn't know the meaning of the word succulent. For an upscale steakhouse, I am not impressed with the level of training and I wonder why there appears to be such a turn over. My steak was tasteless. Very disappointing. I'll be going to Morton's.........."

  • "We love Sullivan's. It was one of the first restaurants we came to know here in the desert. Located on the El Paseo (really fun place to walk and shop) with an upbeat, young crowd and live music make this a special spot to come for a night out. The food is always perfect...I have never had a bad meal...however, sometimes the waitstaff is too busy and they can forget something or be a long time between table visits. It is worth this slight rub to have the great food and wonderful environment. If you like NYC or are going there this restaurant has a sister restaurant there that is completely one of our favorites of all time... "DEL FRESCO" ... also a must!!!"

  • "Made our reservation a little over month in advance requested a booth as we where celebrating a late Valentines day dinner. We arrived to be told our seat wasn't ready and waited 45 minutes to get to our table which wasn't a booth and was rather small even for two people.. At no time did anyone offer a apology or try to make it right. The food was not the best this time and I've been to Sullivans many times. at one time I asked for another loaf of bread which never showed up. Just poor service all in all and I am not sure I would recommend to anyone dinning her as there are other choices in town.."

  • "We wanted to get out of our conference and had been in the El Paseo area on a previous visit. We found a time on Open Table and gotr ourselves over to the restaurant. We sat close to the kitchen. Our server was great. Loved the bleu cheese stuffed olives in my martini. My filet was done perfectly. Wy wife's was more done than meduim rare. All good in the end."

  • "Being is was Feb. 14th. I'll give the wait staff a little slack but not much when you are paying top price for a meal out. We had to ask for bread for starters, we brought our own wine (2002 vintage) when asked if they could strain and decant we received a odd look....the manager offered to take it in the kitchen and use one of the strainers...we passed...when decanting he looked like he was pouring a bottle of beer instead of a good wine. Never once did anyone offer to pour another glass, I handled that myself. The food was good but not great....lacking some flavor but fine. Ordered an espresso with dessert which never arrived and then had to remind them to remove it from the bill. Overall not bad but I don't think we'll be going back."

  • "I viewed the menu online and saw that they served stone crabs which made the decision to try the restaurant. Also had a prix fixe menu for $39, perfect for a smaller meal with a great value. We were informed right off that it had been a busy weekend and that they had run out of stone crabs. What a disappointment! Overall, the service was good and food enjoyable. The cocktail shrimp meaty , ceasar salad was served just right and not tasteless like next store at Pacifica. The 6 oz filet was cooked perfectly but would have liked a little more char markings. Husband ordered lamp chops and enjoyed it. Would return next visit and the dining room has been recently remodeled with a more romantic ambience."
