  • "I had heard and read great things about Sullivan's. The music was very nice in the background and the ambiance was very nice and relaxing. The service was good, but I thought it could have been a little more attentive for bar orders. I had the season special strip steak, as recommended by the server. It was cooked perfectly. But it was not nearly as tender as I was expecting, particularly for the extra time it was supposed to have aged. I was also expecting a little more flavor. I guess I should have gone for the KC cut steak. Also, we ordered Mac N Cheese side, which was made with shells instead of macaroni. While it was a pleasant dining experience, I was expecting more for the money."

  • "Our waitress, Emily, was fantastic. She told us about the specials and asked us if we wanted cocktails. We told her we weren't sure if we were going to have wine with dinner. Then out of thin air, Ryan, my new favorite Sommelier appeared and gave us some great wine suggestions after we told him what we were going to order. He was spot on with his recommendation! He was fantastic (is there a theme here?). Both Emily and Ryan were very attentive and it was appreciated. Food was outstanding- wine was out of this world. Don't forget the million dollar idea Ryan! Everything was outstanding! We will definately be returning and asking for both Emily and Ryan to serve us again."

  • "The atmosphere was very nice. The band played while we dined. Service was attentive and effienct. The sure thing for $39.00 was pretty good. The ravioli was warm, but not to the point of asking for an replacement. Nice dining experience, but pricey. The drinks and sides seem to be overpriced. The valet parking fee of $14.00 is steep. The restaurant should consider going 50% on the parking fee."

  • "Although I had made a reservation, me and my friends had to wait for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, we were told they are still cleaning the table, so we asked if we can sit in the front bar and the server said "yes you can go ahead and sit wherever you want" with no interest in wanting to help us. We were for people, so I asked if we can bring together two tables and the server said "yes you can, go ahead and do that" - once again with no interest in wanting to help us. So although it was my birthday, I had to go to the front bar and carry one table to get it closer to the other one. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! NO UNDERSTANDING OF THE BIRTHDAY. I HAD WRITTEN A NOTE ABOUT THE BIRTHDAY CAKE AND CANDLES, BUT NO ONE PAID ATTENTION. NEVER AGAIN."

  • "We were in Chicago for a birthday weekend and Sullivan's was within walking distance of our hotel. It was warm and cozy, had a wonderful jazz duo in the bar, high quality food and excellent service. Nice array of choices on the menu. Our server's wine recommendation was perfect. Steaks were beautifully done, tender and tasty, grilled asparagus nicely crisp, not over-seasoned. Lively enough to be fun without being crazy. No techno-pop blaring through the sound system, yay! Huge upstairs offers a variety of rooms for events and larger groups. And then ... they took our photo and put it in a little cut-out frame with signatures from staff, to commemorate our visit for my sweetie's birthday. Pretty cool! We will definitely visit again!"

  • "This time our waitress was very slow and did not refresh our drinks, seemed to be preoccupied by something else other than asking us (customer) if we wanted more water, wine, is your food fine, etc. My steak was cold, we waited 25 minutes for our cheesecake, then waited even longer for our bill. So, unlike before; we were not pleased. Our first time was WONDERFUL. It seemed as if our waitress was more interested in looking cute instead of doing her job. (not to sound crast), but it was very clear. There was a younger gentlemen there also; he was trying his best to cover for her (in which he was good), but still couldn't keep up with her lack of providing a service. The music upstairs wasn't as nice and the piano bar either. I wanted that."

  • "The food was great. I made reservations for 9:45 me and my friends got there at 9:45 so I was expecting to be seated right away. We waited for at least 20 minutes before we were seated because they did not have a table ready for 3 guests. But in any event I'm not going to go on and on about that minor issue the food was great I had the roasted balsamic chicken and mashed potatoes. I'm a very picky eater so since it was valentines day and there was only one menu I just chose the salad and appetizer that I thought would be the best I didn't like either one but like I said I'm a picky eater so I let my friends have the salad & the lobster bisque soup & they enjoyed it. The service was perfect & it was nice & quite."

He may have called it attentive but I felt a little rushed. I mean it was 5 pm not a full house yet. The bar service was excellent and the drinks were great! I would go back and give it another try."

  • "I normally avoid chains especially for a steak house. I normally prefer one of the Chicago owned steakhouses. That said, Sullivan's is great. I had a dry aged strip steak that was one of the best steaks I ever had. I prefer a more quiet setting and had imagined that Sullivan's would be loud music, etc. Not the case...was there on a slow winter weeknight. Was thoroughly enjoyable. Some steakhouses like Matesro or Primecut are too intense for me. Will definitely return."

It was a GREAT meal and perfect setting. Music was loud enough you couldn't hear what the couple was talking about next to you but you could converse amongst ourselves perfectly. I did not bring it to the attention of our server because I did not want to wait for another to be cooked and subsequently not dine at the same time as my husband.
