Diner Reviews
  • "The food and service at Sugo's remain top notch and everyone in our party had a wonderful dinner. We celebrated yet another anniversary at Sugo's and found that they continue to maintain high standards with a great mix of Greek and Italian dishes. The evening ended with a wonderful dessert that was a blend of baklava and cheesecake that was more than enough to share. Thank you Mr C. for continuing to impress us; we will be back soon! If you live in or near Johns Creek be sure to take advantage of this neighborhood gem on a regular basis!"

  • "So glad I didn't have to cook before the fireworks started - I let Sugo do it! Special menu option was super affordable and just the right amount of food. 3 options for the first course (salad/appetizer), 3 options for 2nd course (main dish) and the entire dessert menu to choose from for dessert. All for $17.76. Hard to beat that price for such gourmet food. Loved it as always."

  • "I decided to try out Sugo after seeing it repeatedly pop up on OpenTable for the past two years or so. I went for my birthday with a few friends and we were very pleased. The menu is small, but flavor, freshness, and variety make up for it! The small plates were outstanding - table favorites were the meatball and the bacon-wrapped dates. Norbert, our excellent server, make fantastic entree suggestions. I felt the prices were reasonable, and the desserts and cocktails were amazing (the chocolate cake was superior!!). I will definitely be back, whether it be a special occasion or a date night out. A positive and memorable dining experience."

  • "Very professional wait staff. Also the Owner chatted with us in detail about the specials and also how they make their own gluten free pasta. Food was excellent."

  • "45th wedding anniversary. Excellent, attentive service. Server was fun and professional. She matched the wine very well. Mr. C stopped by our table and we ordered the appetizers he recommended. There were 3 of us and we ordered 3 appetizers to share, one entre to share and 3 deserts to share. What a concept! Nice bottle of wine ($40)."

  • "We drive an hour to eat here for our anniversary every year! Mr. and Mrs. Castelluci are so friendly and take great pride in their restaurant! The food is exceptional. This time I had the Wild Alaskan salmon and it melted in my mouth. My husband had the eggplant parmesan. The portion was large (great for leftovers), and the dish was very delicious. We had wonderful service!"

  • "Sugo remains the standard for Atlanta for (1) the highest quality food (2) impeccable service (3) perfect presentation. Others may get more press, but this original Castellucci family restaurant delivers to goods every night in quiet little Johns Creek."

  • "Our first time to Sugo and we were extremely pleased with the food and service! We eat out fairly often and Sugo now tops our list. The Lamb Saltimbocca was exquisite and the service provided by Anthony was outstanding!"

  • "My husband and I eat here regularly. The food and service simply cannot be beat. Best place in North Atlanta hands down."

  • "Sugo is one of our absolute favorites. I haven't been in any Atlanta restaurant that pays more attention to quality ingredients and develops such complex/delicious versions of Italian classics. Ask for a bar table if you can (better people watching) and be sure not to miss the squash blossom appetizer if they have it."

  • "Lined up a babysitter and went out on a date night with my wife to Sugo. Conveniently located on Medlock only about 10min from home. I pass it everyday to and from work and decided to give it a try. Great Italian Restaurant. The meatball appetizer is to die for. Good drinks. Great dishes. We had the lasagna and the lamb dish. Both delicious! Peter, our waiter, was awesome!! He is very kind, well spoken, and knowledgeable about the menu. Good times!!"

  • "Had not been to Sugo's for a number of years and after our recent dining experiece, cannot understand why we stay away for so long. The food was very fresh, the service was excellent and the evening was lovely!"

  • "This was our second trip to Sugo's, but this time we brought our 11 and 8 year old daughters. While we did wait a bit for a table (it was Saturday night and I had pushed our reservation back an hour), once seated we were greeted quickly by our server. She was very accommodating to our daughters. The food was excellent again - lobster and pasta for me and my oldest, lasagna for hubby and pasta with alfredo sauce for the youngest. Of course, as soon as we heard squash blossoms were available we ordered them. First time for our kids to try and they loved them. The owner came and spoke to them as individuals. He also sent over gelato after the meal, which was super nice. They loved it!"

  • "My friends and I ended up at Sugo because the wait time at the restaurant we were planning on going to was to long. I used Open Table and made a reservation at Sugo and our table was ready when we arrived. A great atmosphere and friendly staff was a good start to the evening. The owner came to our table and did an outstanding job describing the specials. We ordered several small plates and entrees. The food was fantastic. Highly recommend Sugo's!"

  • "The server Jean was friendly, energetic, and gracious as well as a great educator of the prep on not only the specials but also the on the menu items. The food was fantastic. We had the Scallops Picata - done to perfection. And the small plate crispy Artichokes. OMG out of this world. We finished it off with BREAD Pudding in a jar - could not believe how good that was. The either executive chef or owner stopped by to ask about our meal. All in all a great experience. We will go back. Loved it."

  • "The wrong order (main entrée) was delivered to our table. When we asked our server about it, the owner quickly brought out the correct owner. Appreciated the quick response. Was very busy & noisy for a Tues. night."

  • "This restaurant has tapas as well as main entrees; a great menu. It is a alot of fun and has great atmosphere. Owner comes out to check on your meal. I liked the fact that there are half and full glass wine choices, as well as bottles. Extensive wine list."

  • "Mr. & Mrs. "C" obviously love what they do and want their patron's to have a rich, full experience. If you're part of the "family," you understand that families have dysfunctions--mainly the restaurant gets crowded and noisy. But the food is consistently awesome."

  • "group of 4 for dinner Saturday (father in law, wife and 18 yr old son). Only negatives were a bit of a wait between app and main course, and not enough calamari (very good though) Food was terrific. Pan sauteed swordfish was best I've ever had (moist, terrific flavor). Scallops were excellent as was Aunt Lena's chicken. Also had lasagna. Great as always. Couple of us had room for dessert. Bread pudding and Zucchini cake were both superb. The owner, Federico II (Mr. C.), came by as always. His enthusiasm and deep love of his craft makes every visit to Sugo's special."

  • "Food is outstanding, owner stopping by to check in at every table is a level of concern that is too rare, our wait staff was having a bad night but everyone is off once in a while. Decor is nice, you feel like your welcomed into the space and everyone there cares you have a nice experience. Food is really good, everything fresh makes such a difference. You can smell, see and taste it. 8 in our party no one got the same dish all raved about how good their dish was. Would enthusiastically recommend this place to friends."

  • "Had a really nice dinner with friends. Had the lobster special, which was very good. Squash blossoms (also a special) were a hit. Service was excellent, as always, from the hostess, to the bar, to the waiter, to the owners checking in. "

  • "Business dinner to recognize a colleague. All of the food was exceptional, the waiter was personable and timely. We had an additional person show up to join us while the waiter was not at our table. The other waiters and staff seemed unresponsive as to how to accommodate us. I ended up just going out and grabbing another chair and squeezing it in. That was the only downside, everything else flowed well, the food was great. On previous visits I've had to wait beyond the reservation time, we were seated right on time on this visit."

  • "I went to Sugo for the first time a couple days ago. I had family in from California visiting. We had reservations at 7:30 for 7 on a Wednesday night. The food sounded wonderful but was anything but. 5 out of 7 of our entrees were room temperature and within 10 minutes the entire plate was cold. Besides our entrees being cold, they were bland. We had the lamb, aunt Lena's chicken, and the spaghetti. The only entrees that were hot were the two orders of chicken parm. Don't waste your time, money, or appetite. Highly disappointed. The only good experience was the server. She was excellent. "

  • "Enjoyed a delightful Mother's Day dinner with my daughter and her Mom on Mothers Day. The appetizers (the famous "Meatball al Sugo" and the Bacon-wrapped Dates) were delectible. The entrees, Lena's Chicken, Chicago Prime and the Swordfish were wonderful, as well. Sogo is a treasure."

  • "Now, the title makes it sound bad, but it's not! It just means some of the best items are daily, non-listed specials. We were first-time diners here and were lucky enough to be there when the squash blossom appetizer was available. Oh. my. god. Amazing! I had the lobster and spaghetti (not on the menu) and it was delish! Hubby had the filet (on the menu) and it was terrific too - tender, cooked perfectly. He loved the asparagus and prosciutto. He also had pasta subbed in for the potatoes and did not regret it. "

  • "They got off to a slow start as there was confusion as to who, if anyone, was servicing our table. After watching others that came in after we had been seated being served, I got up and inquired. Apologies were quickly made and an explanation was given about change of shifts.etc. I will say, that Jane was able to come and convert a bad first impression to a delightful dinner experience. "
