SugarbeetA Longmont GemGreat food and great service. An unlikely place for a high end restaurant but the the food rivals anything you can find in Boulder. The prices reflect the quality of the food and service, no surprises. The portions were ample and the presentation was beautiful. Our waiter was very attentive but not hovering.
This is not an every day eatery. We spent about a $160 for 3 of us with a bottle of wine. Sooo, save it for special occasions or just stop by for an appetizer and drink, they have a nice bar.
Pros: Excellent food, exceptional service, nice wine list, the decor and bar are fitting of a high end restaurant.
Cons: Location - strange location for an upscale eartery, the outdoor patio protrudes into their parking lot.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLongmont Super StarWe've eaten at Sugarbeet twice and love it! The appetizers were unique and delicious. Four of us shared two entrees -- Colorado lamb chops and Scallops (with crab on avocado) -- outstanding. Then we had dessert. Wonderful meal! We'll be back.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot in Longmont!Wonderful food and service. A bit noisy but otherwise great!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGood FoodEnjoyed our meal. Presentation is very nice, and tastes fantastic!!
This was our second trip and we will be back.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently outstandingJust to preface this review - i have been to tons of high-end restaurants in Toronto, NYC, LA, and London. I've been to Sugarbeet twice in the last couple months. Each time has been a fantastic experience. I love the fact that the menu changes - it encourages me to branch out and try different things. I don't think you could choose a bad dish at this place - the chef(s) clearly know what they're doing with seasonal, local, fresh ingredients. Will 100% go again! Not only was the food memorable in both taste and looks, but the service has been impeccable. Great job Sugarbeet! Keep doing what you're doing!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond visit to this greatSecond visit to this great gem of a place. Imaginative food prep - huge portions, wonderful service and very extensive menu and wine list. Only issue for us is SOUND - way too loud in large dining area. Ask for the smaller area if this is an issue for you or others in your party. Would and will recommend to others4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food, friendlyOutstanding food, friendly wait staff...the best restaurant in Longmont!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best in boulder county. The best in boulder county. They could use a wine fridge as its always warm.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGetting Better and BetterSugarbeet gets better and better, a definite improvement from a couple years ago. The asparagus appetizer is outstanding! My wife ordered scallops and she said every bite was excellent. One of our guests and I had the Alaskan Halibut. She liked it; I found the mustard-like sauce a bit dominating, but the fish itself was done perfectly. Our other guest had the pork and he liked it very much. While you wouldn't call Sugarbeet's wine list "notable," it is quite adequate and matches up well with the food offerings. (We had a reasonably-priced Pinot Gris.) The service is always good, and the ambiance is casual and very comfortable. I would rate Sugarbeet equal to some of the better restaurants in Boulder.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGood time, good food, goodGood time, good food, good service, what else do you need?3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExtraordinary service and dessertsSugarbeet is off the beaten path and worth the extra effort to get to and get into. This is a fine establishment with cuisine tailored to those who enjoy quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, attractive presentation and excellent service. The term "hidden gem" comes to mind but that is overused and I would instead prefer to describe Sugarbeet as an establishment that caters to the tastes of a sophisticated yet unpretentious clientele by presenting delicious fare at reasonable prices with a flair for the extraordinary without going overboard. A superb example of Northern Colorado fine dining. Stop in for a cocktail and you'll likely stay for dinner. Cheers.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot in Longmont!Sugarbeet is in an odd location but the interior is nicely decorated and the food is great. The menu is gluten-free friendly but not vegetarian friendly. The service was great and the cocktails were amazing.
My wife had the buffalo ribeye. It was a healthy cut of meat - at least twice as large as we expected. The exotic mushroom side was worth the price alone. I had the sole with greens and quinoa. It was tasty but a little too eclectic... too many competing flavors.
It's pretty casual relative to the price. My wife and I were wearing jeans and sweaters. We didn't feel underdressed at all.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our third visit. This was our third visit. The portion sizes seemed to get bigger, the food was tasting very good, but not extraordinary. For a fine dining experience the portions could be smaller, but with the extra kick that separates it from normal dining experiences.
Overall still a very good experience.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSugarbeet is truly a gem!Sugarbeet is truly a gem! The hosts (Justine and her husband/chef Seth Witherspoon) provide such a warm and friendly atmoshere. The food is always outstanding and I love the seasonal changes that they make to the menu. Our waiter Lance was and always is outstanding when it comes to the personalized service he provides and his knowledge of cuisine. This is our favorite restaurant in the Boulder area.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything from the food toEverything from the food to the service was spot on. My husband and I have dined in some of the best restaurants in the world. My meal here would rank near the top. We ended our meal with a chocolate beet cake that was truly a slice of heaven! The generous portions allowed for more indulgence the following day. We will definitely be back!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always have excellent foodWe always have excellent food and service. This is a little gem that is one of our favorites for any occasion.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is our go-to restaurant,This is our go-to restaurant, and we live near one of the top rated cities for food in the country. We love exceptional food made with creativity and care, great drinks and great wine. Sugarbeet has it all.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a favorite, specialsAlways a favorite, specials are delish as well as the seasonal changing menu. New pastry chef is phenomenal!3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMReliable Longmont RestaurantMy wife and I have eaten at Sugarbeet on several occasions and - particularly in the last two years or so - have been quite impressed with the quality of the food. I don't know if they have a new chef or not, but the food variety and quality definitely has improved. The menu prices aren't cheap, but reasonable for what you get. The wine list offers a number of reasonably priced wines that match well with the food. Service is dependable, even when it's busy, which it was on this visit. The interior isn't noteworthy, but it's pleasant and comfortable. All five of us enjoyed our meals and we will continue to visit Sugarbeet in the future, especially when friends visit and we want to have good food in a setting that allows us to talk.12/30/2012 12:00:00 AM
