The Sugar Reef Grill looks very ordinary at first glance. Then you start to notice the white tablecloths and wine glasses and realize this place is a cut above! I have never been disappointed with the food here. The only problem with the restaurant is the parking to get to it! Plan on leaving yourself 15-20 minutes to park and walk back to this place. They do run a "golf shuttle" but the 2 times we have been there it has not been available for one reason or another! (May & September) If you are looking for great seafood...this is the place to be. The prices are fair but not cheap. The18% gratuity is added in to the bill.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experienced at this Hollywood Boardwalk gem, where the French-inspired menu and the service are top-notch. I normally avoid eating on the Boardwalk, because most restaurants are overpriced and the food is subpar, but Sugar Reef is the exception to this rule. The corvina was incredibly fresh and delicately prepared, preserving all the marvel of this fish; the oven roasted fennel salad was delicious; and I was very pleasantly surprised at the wine list, which included a delicious verdejo Rueda white wine that is rare to find in local restaurants. Our waiter was attentive, had a great sense of humor and treated us very well. Did I mention the views are spectacular? This is the best restaurant on Hollywood beach.

First-timers from Chicago, we sought out the better restaurants via social media, and could not wait to try the Sugar Reef. The owner, I wish we knew his name, made us feel very welcomed. We love when a business owner has his eye on the business because it shows how much they care to make your dining experience memorable. We enjoyed sautéed spicy Calamari, as well as two fish specials that were so fresh and perfectly prepared. Our server also made good wine suggestions for us. People watching is the way to go with an outside table.

On the Hollywood Beach boardwalk, otherwise lined with pizza and taco joints, Sugar Reef Grill is an amazing surprise. White table cloths, delicious fish dishes (try the fish stew if you enjoy curry) and good wine without sacrificing the casual beach atmosphere and amazing ocean view. We had a great time!

Everything was fine but nothing spectacular. Wonderful viewing of ocean and people passing along the Broadwalk. Wife had swordfish provencal which she described as good, but nothing really special. I had snapper that had some type of crusting but the crusting somewhat overwhelmed the wonderful piece of snapper. Again, it was good but not great. Profiteroles for dessert however were the bomb. Just as they should be.

Table of 3 ordered a bottle of wine and a bunch of salads to share as we did not want a heavy meal. This restaurant met our needs perfect as there are many yummy salads and starters/appetizers to order without having to get an entree. I really enjoyed everything I tried and the service was impeccable!

On a recent trip to Hollywood Beach, my husband and had an early dinner at the Sugar Reef Grill overlooking the Broadwalk on Hollywood Beach. We dined early on the porch and service was attentive with the food and wine better than we had expected to find. As I recall, the only disconcerting note was the automatic addition of an18% gratuity to the bill. Not that the service did not warrant that level and in fact I probably would have given a 20% gratuity if left to my own devices, but it seemed a little presumptuous to demand that from patrons. On the back of that I did not leave the additional 2% (to make up the 20%) for the wait person, which would have amounted to an insulting $2.00. Despite the gratuity, it was a nice experience.

Let's begin with a major coup: no French fries. The Sugar Reef offers unique, high quality dishes in a beachside "looks-like- a- hamburger" joint. We ordered appetizers, Actually, we ordered all of them, and they made a meal. Service was impeccable. 5 stars for unique menu, beachside views, great service. Love it.

Chose this restaurant because it's on the Hollywood Broadwalk -- great for people watching! VERY casual. Server, Brenden, was efficient and attentive (coffee and water refilled without having to ask). I had bagel w/lox and spouse had omelet w/lots of additions; also had coffee, juice and order of strawberries. Total was $56 (including 18% tip which was automatically added). It was worth the cost if only for the beautiful morning beach view. The good food was an added plus!

4 friends ate together. Each ordered something different. We all loved our meals, the service, the atmosphere. We were never rushed. When one of us inquired about a particular soup the server brought a taste of it to the table to sample. The view was lovely. The prices reasonable. It is definitely a place I would go back to

We dine here yearly during a winter vacation. The food is always reliably superb, and the ambiance can't be beat with its beachside views. Our waiter was very friendly, and had just the right combination of timely personal attention without hovering. All in all, a wonderful, consistently excellent dining experience!

Not a great place to dine. Very hard to find a parking space and food was just OK. We asked what the most popular dishes were and the waiter did not know! Being on the ocean is find if you can see it in the dark (you can't). No reason to go back or to recommend. Just fair at best but prices were a little higher than most.
