Diner Reviews
  • "The restaurant itself is very small but portions of food and drinks are both worth the money spent. Smoking drinks and massive desserts were definitely the highlight of the meal."

  • "We were not made aware of the menu that offered a appetizer , meal & candy - we ordered everything a la carte & then had to buy candy - when I told the hostess she basically said too bad !"

  • "I was initially excited to have my birthday dinner at the Sugar Factory after all the vibrant, fun-looking pictures I had seen online, but upon arrival I was almost immediately let down. There were so many flies hovering around the dining area that I was unable to sit comfortably without swatting every 5 minutes or so. Not to mention we were seated in a tiny corner. My server must have been new/having a bad day because my friend saw her around the back shaking her head with an attitude after we had kindly asked her to return a milkshake that we didn't like. The food was just OK. I would not return to Sugar Factory to eat, but their goblets and martinis are appealing enough to enjoy at happy hour after work or something of that nature."

  • "I thought the place was nice food was good staff was very nice and friendly but the drinks we're very expensive I came with 8 kids for birthday party I couldn't buy everybody there own drink to expensive so we bought 2 drinks and everybody shared I would defiantly come back again if I was in the area for lunch but no drinks !!!!!!"

  • "Had late reservations, the music is loud (not good for an intimate date) but the music was good. The drinks are amazing ! Its the type of place to go for drinks and desserts. They had a lot of birthdays and they came out with a candle burning dessert every 10mins. Convinced me enough to have my birthday there ! The food was okay, but the appetizers were good ! The waitress rarely came in to check on us but the manager caught it and asked us if we needed anything. I would come back again only for drinks and dessert."

  • "I went with some friends to celebrate my birthday; it was very dark being that it's called sugar factory I was thinking bright fun ambiance. Very small place."

  • "I enjoyed The Sugar Factory but their website makes the place appear much larger than it actually is. A typical NY eatery with tables way too close together. Ask for a seat in the back which is a bit quieter and roomier. The noise level is more than energetic. Between the repetitive Katy Perry songs and the bad acoustics it is a LOUD place. Small bar area and even smaller candy/gift shop area. It's an occasion place which is why we celebrated my birthday there. The food was good, the desserts excellent and of course, we indulged in a 60 oz. goblet of sugar water which made us all shake as we came down from our sugar "high". Fun place for kids and pretty cool for adults, too. Way overpriced as are most NY hotspots. Fun night though."

  • "This was the perfect date spot. The ambience was perfect. The food and drinks were amazing. And, of course, dessert was superb. This place was definitely a keeper. I will be back for my lollipop refill lol!"

  • "First off - there are almost always birthdays going on in here, and it takes honestly about 2 weeks to get a reservation on weekends. The place isn't tiny, don't get me wrong. But for the amount of people they try to fit in there? There's hardly any breathing room. Food wasn't exceptional but it is tasty. I, personally, had the Bleu Cheese Bacon Cheeseburger (It's on Brioche bread), and it was great. Their "smoking" goblets are overrated as well, packed up with ice and their fizzy formula on the bottom, but those go down great too. I suggest the drink with the lollipops, so you get a little more money worth of your $36 drink. Either way, the place makes for a great time, hoping you have something to talk about while you wait for your food."

  • "Horrible food, expensive bad tasting drinks, you basically pay to have a cube of dry ice put in to make it smoke a little, poor service and just an overall waste of money."
    Dined on 8/9/2014
  • "We made reservations and still had to wait it's nothing what people make it out to be. The food is mediocre but the drinks are amazing. There were a no seats so we ate at the bar. Never again!"

  • "Had lunch with party of 8 at NYC location. Our waiter Austin was great and hostess and manager were awesome. Drinks and Dessert were fantastic. Lunch food was very good but nothing unique. Expected place to be bigger - tables very close together. Not a problem for us but could be distraction for others. Girls waiting to see if their picture made the website. Perfect for the celebration we were having."

  • "I met a friend from college in the city and we went to lunch here. It was amazing. We each got a goblet and I got the lollipop one and although it was a little pricy it was definitely worth the money. We also split the smokes crepe which was also fantastic. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely go back there."

  • "Sugar Factory was excellent food was good and drinks were amazing. The inly bad thing it's too small. You are sitting very close to everyone and there's no space between tables."

  • "Took my girlfriend out to eat here; she loved the food and enjoyed the drinks. We went around 10pm, thinking it would be more peaceful during these hours but boy the place was very busy. They took good care of us considering how packed the place was but overall good experience."

  • "This was the second time my husband and I dinned at this particular hot spot. We loved the decor as well as the massive size candy treats that accompanied our drinks. The only problem we had was the lack of interaction between us and our assigned waiter. Not once did he ask if we were " ok". I pay special attention to these details because as a customer it makes me want to come back. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience."

  • "Drinks were amazing, food however was alright. Tables are too incredibly close for dining comfort. I ordered a custom birthday cake and I was quite disappointed that all the candy decorations were made out of fondant instead of actual candy pieces. Considering I asked for a candy cake, what I received was definitely not worth the price I paid at all. Also the sparklers are a bit overkill for such a tiny venue with no ventilation, my guest and I were choking before we even fished the first verse of happy birthday. Overall slightly disappointed, lesson learned but I still had fun."

  • "Place was extremely small food was costly for such small portions you get more for less at ihop or Dennys... drinks are good tho just wished the food portions were equal to or greater to the size of the drinks"

  • "I revisited the Manhattan location after being turned away because of my attire and I have to say I was very disappointed. I will not list everything that made experience not so pleasant. What I will say that played a major factor to my bad experience is that the food we order was horrible."

  • "Not a place to go, if your looking for a good meal. Pretty much finger foods, not a vast selection a far as entrees! The drinks are great, but pricey! Made reservation but still took almost a hour to be seated."

  • "I was completely satisfied with Sugar Factory. While the goblet drinks are a bit pricy, it is definitely worth the money for the overall experience, and the phenomenal taste. The food was delicious, and servers were friendly and informative. Due to traffic, I arrived 20 minutes late for my reservation, but I was still able to be seated immediately. That was a nice plus. Great for birthdays too!"

  • "First of all if you are wearing heels be mindful of the cobble stone. Secondly, the venue is what I'd like to call a cozy hot spot so be ready to wait even if you have a reservation. When you finally get seated under the dim lights emitting from beautiful chandeliers and glowing candle light that bounces off the glossy painted brick walls the chill ambiance is set. You should be able to forget about all the waiting now! especially with the help of the smoking candylicious cocktails, great tasting food, and friendly hosts. All in all it was a nice night, but I'll try brunch next time maybe it won't be so crowded."

  • "I was glad at how well the hostess treated us. As soon as I whispered that it was my gf's birthday she found a way to get me off to a corner to discuss the surprise and my options at the end of the meal. My waitress seemed to forget this and I had to refresh her mind. As for the food, it was OK. We had the Roquefort and Bernaise steaks. Hers was OK (B), but mine (R) had way too much blue cheese sauce. So much in fact, that I scraped almost all of it off in order to be able to enjoy the steak. One thing makes me never want to come here again. When it was time to pay, the busboy picked up our bill and checked to see how much we owed. Insulting to say the least! Being young doesn't make me broke. Only way I'd come back here is for the drinks."

  • "The Sugar Factory NYC is a great novelty spot with an exciting theme and drink menu, but the fact that they try to do so much in such a confined space is what really brings down the quality of your visit. The solution would be either a bigger spot or trying to fit less people in the already small spot they have."

  • "I went here for my birthday the place was not what I expected it was very small nosey and the waiter was slow. I would only go there again for the food."

  • "The occasion was my granddaughter's 17th birthday. The only available reservation was 5:30. Unfortunately, the show wasn't over until 5:30 and with the Times Square crowd, we were unable to get to the restaurant until 6:00. The hostess informed us the wait for a table was 1-2 hrs. I explained the theater situation and that it was my granddaughter's birthday. The hostess said she would see what she could do, and we could wait outside. It was quite warm and at about 6:20 I asked the hostess if we could have some water. She said yes, but never returned. Another host, a young man came out around 6:40 and asked if everything was ok and I asked again for the water; he brought it right out! He also checked on the table, which was ready at 7:00."

  • "It wasn't what I expected, I thought the drinks and food would be better for the prices and hype. Between 4 of us the bill was 220 before tip. Our server only took our order never came to ask how we were doing and dropped the check as if she was asking us to leave. It was my birthday so we thought of ordering some desert but wasn't turned onto the fact she dropped it before even asking if we were ready for it. Anyway I wouldn't go back again the place is very small and the table next to us had trouble getting out and the next party seated."

  • "I decided to come here for my birthday. Let me start off my saying, for the amount of money and business the sugar factory makes, they need to relocate to a bigger spot! I was literally sitting on top of someone else! Out legs were touching the entire time. Its REALLY SMALL. The food wasn't that good it was very greasy and tasted bad. The drinks were the best and only good part of the night they were AMAZING! Out waiter was all over the place I probably seen him twice the whole time. It was REALLY noisy. I honestly didn't enjoy myself at all. But try it out for yourself maybe you'll have a different experience."
