Nice atmosphere. Needed last
minute reservations for six before a Sunday Matinee. Nice Craft beer list. food was fine. Service was OK, but the server was such an nice guy, I tipped him well anyway. Would not rush back but probably would stop in for a craft beer. The bar area is inviting."

Consistently excellent food with
the best, most friendly servers. Not to be missed."

Lovely menu and delicious. We went
for prix fixe menu - 3 courses and a great value. I had the hangar steak, which was awesome and my husband had lamb which was also delicious. Sangria was to die for! We went before a show - which was a mistake because it is not a quick bite. Give it two hours to enjoy all three courses. Dessert was my least favorite -- some of the desserts were delicious...mine sounded better than it tasted ...not quite sweet enough to be dessert. Ask your waiter about the desserts before you order, unless you are the type that likes semi-sweet. I'd go back in a heart beat."

Great restaurant serving some
amazing food. Great staff and service. Bar staff and wait staff very knowledgeable. A real neighborhood gem and I'll be back for sure."
Dined on 2/2/2014
Food is delicious, some of the
best guacamole in the city. That said, service is quite slow.. If you don't mind 45 minutes between appetizers and entrees then it's worth it!"
Dined on 1/31/2014
Sue Torres seems to have gotten
tired. Example. There is no excuse for pre-plated Guacamole. I hope she regains her energy."
Dined on 1/31/2014
The food here is excellent. I've
been going for years and think it's strange it's not usually more crowded. I think it's because it's on a side street with no clearly visible sign from 8th ave., so it doesn't get much street traffic. The atmosphere is pleasant and calming but I think it could do with a make-over; it would be more romantic with less garish colors, and NYC needs romantic Mexican restaurants. (Are there any??) Otherwise, it's a great place."

We had been here a few times and
it has always been great. We brought some friends to Suenos for the first time and it was great again. Friendly service, great margaritas and awesome food. If you want a real Mexican experience in NY, this is the place to go as opposed to the many rip-off chain restaurants."
Dined on 1/17/2014
I enjoyed the food and the service
was truly great. Will recommend and will come again."

Needed a restaurant near the Joyce
Theater for an early show New Year's Eve. Suenos fit the bill nicely. We had not been there before, but you could hear your table's conversation easily, the Southwestern cuisine was quite good, the ambience gives an aura of spaciousness, and we'd definitely come back. It was also pleasantly and surprisingly inexpensive, especially considering that it was New Year's Eve when many restaurants raise their prices unconscionably. All in all, a very positive experience."

This Chelsea Gem has been around
for a while, but never disappoints. Starting off with a warm greeting, their delicious margaritas, followed by their complimentary black beans and corn bread, the palate is all set for real haute Mexican food, not the Tex-Mex most Americans are used to calling Mexican food. It's delicious. The only surprise that is not expected is the check. With drinks four of us ate a nice dinner without desert for $240 dollars. Not a "let's just roll in on a Tuesday night" kind of place, but for events or special occasions, can't be beat. Maybe it just seemed extraordinary as I was picking up the check."
Dined on 12/26/2013
Overall I was disappointed with
suenos. The staff as nice enough, but the experience was not good. We were seated in the back corner by the woman making tortillas and guacamole, which meant she brushed by us every 3-5 min. Service was very very slow. Food was ok. Guacamole was flavorless. Best part was the roasted beet salad. I would not go back."
Dined on 12/20/2013
Suenos is a charming quaint
restaurant. I found it very romantic particularly since we went on Saturday night during the snow storm. We sat by the window of the garden and watched the snow come down and accumulate over the rocks. The margaritas were great, service lovely and it wasn't noisy. The pork dish and whole fish were the best we've had in a very long time. The fish was very fresh and deliciously seasoned. We will definitely go back!"

I'll admit, it was 8PM on a
Thursday night-- restaurants prime time. But the service at Sueños left a lot to be desired, namely our food and drinks. It took a good 10-minutes just to get a drink order in and it was all down hill from there. The food was just okay. The Chicken Enchilada with mole sauce wasn't really that hot, physically, and it was mostly dark meat chicken. Perhaps it was just a weird night for them and they were short staffed but it took easily 45 minutes longer all the way around."

Very pretty restaurant. Food is
ambitious but good; wonderful service."

Celebrated my wife's birthday
there Wednesday night. Wonderful food, warm reception, and even a free first round. Love this place."
Dined on 11/20/2013
The ambiance, servers, and
delicious innovative cuisine made Suenos an ideal spot to enjoy the evening. Thankfully not trendy, but as warm and inviting as an authentic restaurant in Mexico."
Dined on 10/24/2013
I went here for a birthday
celebration and the food very good. The restaurant has a very nice ambience."
Dined on 10/16/2013
Every time I come here, I have a
very good meal. This last time coincided with national taco day, and we very much enjoyed the special taco appetizer. I also appreciated the server's recommendation of the spicy watermelon margarita. Excellent."
Dined on 10/5/2013
This restaurant never disappoints.
For the more budget conscious types, the price fixed menu is a very good deal. The presentation and freshness of the ingredients are obvious. The beef tacos appetizers are just the zesty right kick and easily shared by two. My date had a fish dish. It was her first time dining here and she loved it. I had the chicken mole which excellent. Had only one quibble...service was a slower than usual. Not bad mind you but we were trying to make an 8p curtain and had to rush with our apple dessert."

This was a good option for two
reasons: 1) close to Joyce theater. 2) Friend is on a strict Gluton Free diet and Mexican food works especially here as tortillas, chips, etc. are made from corn. They were also very accommodating in telling us if there was a problem with a dish not being gluton free. The food was quite good."
Dined on 9/28/2013
Waiter most attentive and helped
decide from extensive choices."
Dined on 7/17/2013
I'm always surprised that Suenos
is not more crowded because it's so much better than many of the better-known Mexican restaurants in the city. The lobster sopes, fruit margaritas, corn bread, fish, and salads are especially excellent."
Dined on 9/26/2013
We liked suenos, it was odd being
used to busy and loud Manhattan restaurants to be somewhere where there were few other customers. The food was good and the cocktail menu is very good too."
Dined on 9/16/2013
The best "house" margarita and
guacamole I've ever had!"
Dined on 9/8/2013
Truly one of my favorite
restaurants in New York. Everything we ate was delicious and fresh and flavorful, it's tucked away so it isn't too loud (great for catching up with friends!) and the staff was wonderful. I would DEFINITELY come back."
Dined on 8/10/2013
Prior to finding suenos, Rosa
Mexicanos was out favorite go-to Mexican restaurant. Suenos exceeded all expectations. The Tacos Al Pastor was outstanding, and incredibly flavorful. And Suzy's Smoking' Margarita was one of the best, and most unique margarita I've ever had. Suenos will definitely be a stop for us on every trip to NYC. You won't be disappointed."
Dined on 8/7/2013
Suenos always surprises with
not-quite-Mexican dishes that are flavorful. Portions are on the small side so the price adds up if you want to sample. Margaritas are above average."
Dined on 7/18/2013
I don't know how I hadn't heard of
this place as this is my favorite genre of food, but I'm glad I know about it now! Way better than the nearby Dos Caminos."
Dined on 8/4/2013
The food has greatly improved,and
our meals were terrific on our last visit--wonderful guacamole and gratis black bean dip with crisp cornbread triangles, followed by delicious branzino delicately prepared with olive oil, lemon and garlic.Only complaint was that the margaritas could be larger and stronger.Excellent service too--and the 4 of us appreciated the fact that they gave us 4 separate checks--something many restaurants are strangely reluctant to do."
Dined on 8/2/2013
This isn't your garden variety
Mexican. It is a reasonably priced better than just good menu. Wine is good and so are the drinks. The service can be a little over the top intrusive bit compared to the rule in Manhattan it's a refreshing change. The corn bread wedges with dip is a surprise and the fresh guacamole is fine. The salsa could be better, chips are crisp and portions eatable not overly so. I am a Miami girl and know a key lime from a faux green spongy thing that most NY restaurants including B Smiths tries to pass off as the real thing so you can imagine my surprise that Sueous actually DOES use KEY Limes. For that alone I would go back. Give it a try."
Dined on 8/1/2013
While there is a dearth of decent
food to be found in Chelsea, this "progressive" Mexican resto - tucked away on 17th St and far from the fray - is a find, if slightly overpriced. Fresh food, a convivial atmosphere, and killer margaritas."
Dined on 7/23/2013
The food is wonderful -- delicious
and creative. It just has a low key vibe that felt a little down, but overall very nice."
Dined on 7/22/2013
Great Food, Flavorful and the
service was spot on!"

Very nice neighborhood restaurant.
Keep up the good work."
Dined on 3/18/2013
Suenos is always reliable tor
good, authentic, Mexican food and great margaritas."
Dined on 7/8/2013
Food was good, but not worth the
prices. There are better restaurants in the city."
Dined on 7/2/2013
Not quite as good as the last
time, but we did not order creatively. Good food and good service made for a fine Father's Day meal."
Dined on 6/17/2013
I'm not a fan of Mexican fare, but
my wife & daughter love Mexican food so I thought we could give Suenos a try. I was a little turned off by the decor, upon entering the restaurant, but immediately found the service friendly & attentive. The Smokin Suzy margarita was good, but a bit weak(which isn't always a bad thing) and we thoroughly enjoyed the guacamole. At $7.00/person, for the guacamole, I thought it was a tad expensive for what we got. Still, we enjoyed the appetizer and ordered a 2nd bowl(which was a mistake since we were too full to finish our entre's). Somewhat disappointed there wasn't more in the way of salsa. I ordered the chili rubbed branzini and, while I loved the fish, didn't care for the white rice and black beans."
Dined on 6/15/2013
Love the intriguing menu at Suenos
- always something new and interesting. Loved the margarita too :) I'll be back - often!"
