Diner Reviews
  • "This was not my first time at the restaurant, the food is always great and the service is too. This is a neighborhood gem. Their lamb burgers are delicious. "

  • "We really enjoyed our brunch, especially love the option for BYO. The bread in the flower pot and the cheese/meat plate were our favorite part of the meal. However, it was very hot in the greenhouse and our table had no shade and was really sunny! Sunglasses are a must, it would be nice if there was a little more shade to ensure a comfortable environment. Overall, still a neat place to visit."

  • "We dined here on a rainy night with some co-workers and had a blast! The host also helped us get situated at our table and pretty much checked on us throughout the evening. We all had our obligatory individual pots of bread with butter and sea salt. We shared cauliflower fritters which I thought were outstanding. I also had a vegetarian gnocchi dish which was tasty but the gnocchi were a little heavy for me - I found it hard to finish it. We all shared a bite of salted caramel ice cream but i found it way too salty for me - and I'm definitely a salt girl. We always have so much fun here - I'm afraid we were a little loud for the table next to us! Sorry about that! Always look forward to returning here - love that it's a BYOB."

  • "This is one of our favorite places to bring friends - whether for Sunday brunch or dinner, Terrain never disappoints. While the menu is not overwhelmingly long, it offers a wonderful selection and each choice is undeniably delectable. You will be wowed by the food and the service is thoughtful but not intrusive. If you have not been here, I recommend trying it for your next meal out!"

  • "Great ambience and delicious creative local food. The servers are cheerful and accommodating. The fresh, outdoor feel, while sitting in the lovely airy solarium is sublime. It's a great spot to chase the winter blues away."

  • "Ate at the Cafe 3 times this weekend, including brunch today. . Today, the spinach soup was horrible! My friend felt it was inedible. I also was served the kale/Swiss chard salad and I could not eat it! The stalks were so thick I actually felt like I was chewing on a branch. The place was busy, so whoever prepared it, threw the kale and tiny pieces of Swiss chard on a plate with NO dressing. I've eaten at Terrain since it first opened and I can't remember an experience like this. The server was clearly overwhelmed and virtually unconscious. I would have complained (mistakes happen) but I was invited and TREATED by a friend. I know this person paid well over $150.00. I also think younger children should be separated at such an elegant place."

  • "We usually love Styer's, but every once in a while they have a bad day... This was one of them. The service was really slow, especially given that we had 2 kids with us. I heard a couple near us complain about the slow service, and even though they had arrived after us, they got their food before us. Maybe we should have complained? When we did get our food, it was room temperature and kind of disappointing. My husband's pork belly was a pile a mush, and there was a TON of it. We agreed that they could have benefited from knocking a couple of dollars off and focusing on better preparing a smaller portion. Oh well, hopefully next time will be better."

  • "Great place to dine while shopping at Terrain. The menu has vegetarian options and the food was tasty, fresh and served promptly. My waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and was happy to make suggestions. The greenhouse dining has a wonderful ambience with plants galore and twinkle lights. A must place to dine if in the area."

  • "I love this whole place. The nursery and store are really cool and the restaurant is great. Terrific locally sourced ingredients. Always good. A friend and I come down here 2 or 3 times a year. A 45 minute drive and worth it."

  • "I have always loved this cafe. But the last two times I have gone, the menu was bizarre and we had a really hard time finding something to order. The prices have become very inflated for what you get and the food has not been good. So sad to give Terrain such a poor report as this has always been my go to place to bring friends and out of town guests. This time it was an embarrassment. The soup tasted burned and the costly shared plates were so tiny you could hardly share them. Hope they turn it around. Luckily the menu is constantly changing. I will go again in hopes that these past two times were fluke. Sadly, the artisan bread and butter were the best part of the meal. Even the honey tea au lait that I always order came out luke warm."

  • "My daughter and I had a great lunch. I enjoyed the vegetarian pot pie and my daughter loved the quiche. Make great way to spend an afternoon!"

  • "We keep coming back to this place because, even though it's not consistently good food-wise, dining in a greenhouse is a lovely experience. We started with cauliflower fritters, delicious. My companion had the pork cheek, and that was great also. My lobster dish came with lobster in the shell and a lobster/mussel ragout, which had bits of shell in it that were unpleasant. The flavor of the dish was good, not great and the sweet potato gnocchi were even with Trader Joe. For dessert, we had what sounded like a dream - malted white chocolate mousse. It was fairly tasteless and sat on top of stewed fruit that was somewhat bitter. We didn't finish it, even though the serving was so small, it came in an old fashioned tea cup."

  • "The food and the ambience at Styer's Garden Café are unique. Food is locally grown when possible, fresh, all homemade, and delicious. Your homemade bread comes in a flowerpot (clean!) and with homemade butter. You get to sit in a converted greenhouse with hanging plants and cool gardening stuff on the walls. The waitstaff is pleasant and fun. It's really someplace different to take a friend or group of friends. Bring sunglasses if you come during the day in case you're facing the sun. After you eat, you get to look around the very cool store for gift items and gardening books and things. I always find a few things I can't live without at the store. And then you can look at the nursery outside for plants and pots! What a great place!"

  • "I have nothing bad to say about the restaurant as I gave all 5 star , the only thing the noise level was moderate but we still didnt have to scream"

  • "Not spiting Open Table but I always thought a reservation meant an available table within 15 minutes of your time, otherwise why have reservations? But no, we were offered a table 25 min later in the overflow area for 6 that would normally hold 4. We refused and after 40 minutes finally were seated. Food was good, but not exceptional although the food choices made for interesting and delightful flavors and tastes. Lobster bisque could have used some chunks of lobster per some in our group, although the lobster flavor did come through well. Organic omelette was light and tasty. Lamb burgers were flavorful."

  • "It was recommended, by a foodie friend, that my wife and I eat here. We were traveling through the area so we decided to stop in, boy am I glad we did. It was one of the best meals I've ever had. We each had the 5 course chefs tasting. It was spectacular, we each ended up with completely different meals, and both were equally amazing. Service was awesome. We were there very early, right after they opened so we had the place to ourselves for the first half hour. I can't wait to go back."

  • "Funky, earthy and cool! The menu is creative and the food delish! I would eat here every night if I could and would move into Terrain and make it my home in a heartbeat. This is a venue that is not to be missed!!"

  • "I've been here before and it was very good. While the menu has some wonderful options, I made the mistake of ordering the mushroom quiche. Bad choice. Unlike quiche I'm used to, this was more of a cream custard with mushrooms. It was white, not yellow and in a pie crust. Very heavy and bland. Small portion. Service was slow. The cafe itself is a garden wonder."

  • "I was very disappointed - the service was lackadaisical. There were 4 of us and our waiter got 1 appetizer and 2 entrees wrong - the wrong appetizers was sent back and by that time the correct one was brought, the other 3 were cold. As our waiter turned to walk away from our table he repeated the entrees and he was wrong. I detected a snobbishness from some staff. As a professional, who has travelled a lot and loves to cook, and is old enough to be their mother, I do not appreciate restaurant staff who act like they know more that I do and are "cooler" than I am. The food was pretty good but hardly worth the price. $32 for 5 smallish scallops. Salads and bread are the best thing on the menu."

  • "This was my second time at Styer's, and I was reminded why I didn't love it the first time. It's a beautiful location at Terrain, but the food leaves much to be desired at this price point. I had a "spicy" chickpea soup that was so bland they might as well have just dumped some canned chickpeas in some Campbell's tomato soup and saved themselves the hassle. I ordered a salad as well, and the dressing was very salty - didn't finish it. Service was very slow, but it was crowded on a Sunday so that's to be expected. My husband's chicken banh mih was bland too. The bread served in a pot is a cute touch, and we were thankful for it since I didn't eat my food. The waitress did remove my soup from our bill. Overall - we will not be back."

  • "I always enjoy dining in the greenhouse. I eat a vegetarian diet and my friend does not. We both enjoy the menu selections and always find it difficult to choose. It is a BYOB, and on the expensive side. If you need a plant, a gift or some fun soaps/lotions, you can enjoy a Sunday afternoon of browsing, shopping and dining in this funky setting."

  • "From the seating we were given to the menu then to the food. Everything was just awful. An expensive meal. A great waste of food and money and an afternoon that was suppose to be relaxing and enjoyed by a mother/daughter day out. the service was poor the hostess was not pleasant the waitress was mean"

  • "With winter dragging on, brunch at Terrain is just the faux spring we needed! The greenhouse is gorgeously decorated, sunny and warm- despite the piles of snow on the ground outside! Don't expect your typical eggs any way breakfast here. The Kenney mushroom quiche was delicious, as was our lamb burger. Not somewhere we could make a weekly tradition, but definitely a keeper on our list."

  • "Styer's Garden Cafe puts a lot of love and care into their recipes. Everything is unique and fun on the taste buds. It is a little on the expensive side but worth the $$$ because of how unique and well made the food is. Definitely a place to take out of town visitors for a special treat brunch. I have been for dinner as well but really do prefer the brunch, and it is BYOB if you would like wine with your meal."

  • "I ordered the monkfish which came with roasted root vegetables. I usually base my decision of entree based on the accompanying sides. The fish was delicious but small, and was cool because of the liquid that surrounded it and almost raw root vegetables that were sliced very thin. I am a small eater, and this was not enough food for the price...I forget, maybe $30. When the waitress checked in, to see if everything was to our liking, I explained about the root vegetables. She did offer another side of very sweet carrots, etc, in Maple sugar. Not very good. My 3 friends all seemed to enjoy their meal. The soup was outstanding, and the hot popover was incredible. Desserts were disappointing."

  • "The food on the menu turned out to be almost completely different compared to the one they had online. Our server could not fully articulate how my food would actually be prepared. The appetizers were so-so. And of the six mains at our table only 2 really impressed. Dessert and coffee were actually good, with the exception of the Local Apple Crisp! Local apples in March? So, $375.00 later was it worth it? I'm still deciding."

  • "This was a nice place for dinner. I would have preferred to have know that it is a BYOB. I would have still gone and just brought a bottle of wine. None of the experience was missed without the wine just a heads up would be appreciated."
