Diner Reviews
  • "Three of us dined on a recent Friday night. Staff was incredibly friendly, especially our waiter. Noise was horrible. Could not hear each other across the table without speaking very loudly. Meals were mixed. The hangar steak was very flavorful. The pork chop was quite tough with little flavor. Desserts were excellent. I would definitely go again, but only on a quieter night. We went elsewhere for coffee after dinner so we could talk."

  • "It was good food but compared to other restaurants in the city, slightly less polished."

  • "I loved this place, good ambiance, fantastic food. Although a bit pricey compared to my typical hot spots, it's absolutely worth a little extra splurge every once in awhile! The rainbow trout with asparagus was amazing (my husband ordered this dish and I couldn't stop stealing the asparagus!). And, the duck w/ lentils was so good, I almost chucked my manners to the side and started licking the plate!"

  • "Loved the whole experience. We dined with friends who loved it too!"

  • "Our dinner with tip was $150.00. For that price one would expect a fine dining experience. However, the appetizers (the clams and asparagus) were mediocre at best, the entree (the chicken) was better but not very satisfying, and the service disappointing. Finally, the wine list was fairly limited and the pricing was exorbitant."

  • "We have been happy customers of The Stumbling Goat Bistro for years, but our most recent visit for my husband's birthday in April may have been our favorite dining experience yet. We were warmly welcomed at the door and seated at a table by the window. We oredered mussels and nettle soup as appetizers and both were delicious. My husband had halibut which was perfectly cooked and I had braised lamb shoulder with tomatoes, olives, and a gnocchi cake that was one of the yummiest dishes I have ever eaten. For dessert we had homemade peanut butter icecream with homemade fudge and it was the perfect ending to an incredible meal. I highly recommend The Stumbling Goat Bistro for dinner and happy hour too."

  • "I had the best risotto that I have ever tasted in my life! The service was excellent. Even though the restaurant was crowded we never felt neglected. I made a reservation on line that was not exactly the time I wanted and left a note for the restaurant to let me know if they could fit me in later and they did. Very excellent response."

  • "This place is AWESOME and one of my favorites. I love the menu, the drinks, and the staff. The bar tender is one of the owners, and she makes some really wonderful drinks. They also make their own house gin that is fantastic!!!"

  • "I selected Stumbling Goat for my daughter's birthday dinner after really enjoying dinner with friends 3 months before. My daughter is a "foodie" with extensive travel, culinary, and wine experience all over the world so If. Neither my daughter or husband had tried Stumbling Goat and I was a bit nervous about holding such an important event at a restaurant neither had experienced. But my concerns were groundless. Not only was the food as wonderful as before but the service was still exceptional. Our experience left all of us feeling very special besides well fed and served! I totally scored on this selection!"

  • "The rainbow trout was dry, thin and not enjoyable. By far, the worst dining in a very long time."

  • "This was our first time eating here, and it was wonderful from start to finish. We took advantage of the Seattle Restaurant Week 3 courses for $28 deal. All courses were very ample, and everything was well-seasoned. We are vegetarians, and the production of our vegetarian dishes was excellent. In addition, the room was warm and well decorated, and the service was cheerful and efficient."

  • "I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The delicious food and creative flavors are consistant and delightful at the bar as well as in the food. The folks are great and the flavors are amazing. My favorite place for food, drink, and dessert."

  • "One of Phinney Ridge's "not to be missed" gems, Stumbling Goat offers a varied yet reliable menu, a great wine list, and generous and friendly servers. The cheese plate is a go-to favorite of ours, the main courses always solid and reliable, prepared with flair but never "too precious." Serving portions are abundant, and presented with style that makes you proud to bring out-of-towners and show them that we know how to do it right in Seattle."

  • "The risotto was out-of-this-world good! It's just such a taste treat. The olive tapenade is probably the best I've ever had and I'd be disappointed if you ever eliminated it."

  • "This place is really nice and has really fancy food. Our waiter was friendly and really knowledgeable about wine. The ambiance is nice and if I did go back, I think it would be for drinks and appetizers. I don't think I will go back for dinner because the entrees were not my style, but the experience there was great."

  • "We always enjoy the opportunity to sneak away for dinner at the Stumbling Goat. Their unique and hand crafted cocktails are fantastic! The menu has the perfect blend of in season specials and outstanding fixtures that make choosing your meal a delightful challenge (we had to split two entree's as we just couldn't decide). Top this off with a friendly, warm, neighborhood atmosphere and the Stumbling Goat is a winner everytime. Thank you!!!!"

  • "While I have seen reviews for some time, this was my first visit. The happy hour offerings was especially lovely and the service, food was great. Great for our party of 4 to have space, time and atmosphere to have share a nice evening. We started at the bar and were seated at our leisure. Great cocktails!"

  • "We had a lovely time; met some friends mid week to catch up. Service was attentive without being intrusive. The food was out of this world good. Ordered up the first Halibut of the season with some fear at $29.00. Mentioned my Halibut standards to the waiter and took the dive. It was beautiful, sweet, done to a glistening succulent perfection; and!!! they asked if it was done to my liking. Don't miss this gem."

  • "David was a fantastic waiter and the entire meal was a delight. Our chicken and pork chop entrees were flavorful and artfully-prepared, salad was delicious, and although neither of us like traditional Black Forest cake, David's recommendation of their Black Forest cake was spot-on. Compared to all else, the soup was fairly bland, otherwise we would have rated our entire meal 5-star. All-told, a delightful evening!"

  • "David was fabulous. He knew in great detail all the food items/ingredients. This was my second time when he served us and both times were memorable."

  • "I had the rabbit and the sauce was TOOOO salty. It tasted like they had used some type of bouillon cube. It totally overpowered the mushrooms and kale. My husband had the fish. It was bland. The lentils were good. We did not have dessert. Portions were generous. The soup was good."

  • "Service was friendly. We were there on a Friday night - ambiance was good, but noisy. Risotto was a bit liquidy and overall a unique consistency - flavor was saved by good cheese, which made it not all that complex; would not recommend it. Chicken had a nice flavor, but nothing outstanding. Mixed green salad and desserts were great as were the tapanades served with the bread. Overally, glad we went to try it out and it had a friendly feel; not sure we would go back again."

  • "I was drawn by the name and decided to check out their happy hour. I really enjoyed their tapenade which came complimentary with an entree order; two generous scoops - one olive, one sun-dried tomato ... each good by itself, but even more delicious when mixed. Their pear ginger cocktail was delicious without being cloyingly sweet. Ordered the sturgeon but found it undercooked and the citrus butter too rich for my taste, although the black lentils cooked al dente were perfect. Overall, a good bistro for small plates and drinks if you're in the area."

  • "We had the pork belly and the quail as appetizers. The combination of flavors worked very well together in both dishes. A risotto was cooked perfectly, as well as the filet mignon. Our waitperson offered excellent wine suggestions. I'd also give a big thumbs up to the mixologist who made an Old Vermont which had a hickory infused bourbon with maple. Excellent. We'll definitely come back. The only caveat is the sound. A very loud environment, so if you're looking for an intimate, quiet meal, this is probably not your best `choice."

  • "I am a repeat customer, and I have in my past some 25 years in the food and beverage biz. Stumbling Goat's culinary staff puts together well thought, seasonal menus. Some folks may find the menu limited, but I have always found a dish to enjoy. Plus the very capable and informed server we had introduced us to several appetizer and entree specials at the beginning. The bottle prices on the wine list lean a little to the steep end. They do have affordable by the glass offerings. Cocktail list is imaginative and the bartender mixes some great drinks. The food is very well executed and timely considering the size of the kitchen. Their risottos are amazing-that is a tough dish to pull off consistently. Dessert is a must. Enough said - go eat."
