Diner Reviews
  • "Another tremendous dinner at Strip House! Whether in NYC, Florida, or Vegas this restaurant continues to impress with delicious food, an excellent wine list, and tremendous service...all with an ambiance that is timeless. A++++"

  • "though very happy with each of several previous visits, this time prep of the fillet disappointed. Piece was a bit overdone for medium (even by the standard offered by waitstaff) and as such, all but the center dry. Further, I realize house signature seasoning mandates copious amounts of salt pre, during & post prep, this time it was excessive in my opinion. As i was with another party i did not want to distract, so i made no comment to waitstaff. Everything else was perfect."

  • "Great service, great food, timely, hot and delicious! The steak for two was cooked to perfection! The 24 layer chocolate cake was a chocolate lovers dream. The intermediate hand towel was an unexpected plus and the valet for our left overs and umbrellas wrapped in plastic were a nice touch. Absolutely will be back!"

  • "We had the NY Strip Steak and the Rib Eye. Both were excellent. We ordered the house special Goose Fat Potatoes and the bacon appetizer. We both did not enjoy either of them. But the service was very good and they gave us a special dessert to help us celebrate our anniversary. I would recommend this place for a wonderful steak dinner."

  • "The food was good but it was overpriced. There are better steak houses in mid-town Manhattan. I was a little disappointed."

  • "I can honestly say that Strip House is the best dining experience I've had There are wonderful restaurants in NY, but this is the place for a great steak. Impeccible service, and fantastic food. Sides to die for!"

  • "A little hiccup in the order - but more than made up by masterful service recovery. Food as always SPECTACULAR. Best steak on the planet. We are long time customers of the original downtown restaurant which always had the best steak but very hit or miss on service. Since BRG has taken over downtown is slightly more consistent but Midtown wrote the book on how the FOH should run and we are willing to travel for the better experience. You will not find a better, more professional - yet warm and friendly - front-of-house staff anywhere in Manhattan. Plus of course the best steak (bone in NY Strip) available on earth. One of the few mid-town steak restaurants that is as accommodating to couples or four-somes as they are to big groups."

  • "Dined here last night for our anniversary and we couldn't have had a better meal or experience. Our server Katherine was attentive and knowledgeable. We had two great glasses of wine and were also given champagne on the house to celebrate the occasion (smart management!). We were seated in a large corner booth more suitable for a party of 6 or more. Appetizers of bacon and crabcakes were yummy and our steaks and lamb chops were delish and cooked perfectly. The décor is very attractive like a Supper Club. All that was missing was some jazz playing in the background. The Midtown location is fun and bustling all night. Will definitely return for our next special occasion."

  • "We stayed at a hotel on the same street and wanted someplace local. Food is nothing special but reasonably well prepared, not dried out, meat of good if not exceptional quality. Sides are expensive and drinks run up the bill fast. Music makes it difficult to talk and enjoy the meal. Would probably go somewhere else if I had to spend the same money but not a bad experience either."

  • "From beginning to end, it was a magical experience. Every suggestion perfect. The food, devine. It was very clear our business was respected and appreciated. I have been to other Times Square steak houses where I felt I was just an f Item on the conveyor belt. At a Strip House, I felt welcomed, as if I was a guest in someone's home. I took a friend for a celebration and the Strip House was the perfect place. I have found my go to place when I'm seeing a Broadway show."

  • "I have been going to the Strip House on 12th Street for a long time. The newer location on 44th is even better because there is more room and better seating available for parties of 2. The steaks are outstanding as usual with the garlic as the icing on the cake. Always get the creamed spinach as well. It is a old standby."

  • "Upscale , sexy and romantic and the food was exceptional. Best Steak and Salmon and Caesar Salad we ever had! They even had my special drink , Porseco topped off with St. Germane. Thank you for a wonderful start to our amazing night. It was our anniversary and they brought out a delicious chocolate cake with a candle. Our waiter and staff could not be more helpful and accommodating. Thank you! We will be back soon!"

  • "Excellent steaks, excellent service, cannot speak highly enough about our dining experience."

  • "This is what I needed on my last day in NYC. I can honestly say that the steak was the best I've ever had, melt in your mouth delicious. The services was great, our waitress was very nice and made great recommendations with the wine. The décor of the restaurant is beautiful and all of the vintage picture go well with the dim lighting. Loved everything about this place."

  • "Amazing food and service. Waitress seemed genuinely happy to be there and taking care of us, of which she did a great job. Beautiful restaurant as well. Great ambiance. Make sure to save room for the steaks because the pretzel bread is delicious."

  • "We ordered the special bone in filet mignon medium rare. Came out closer to medium well. Steak still had great flavor so when server asked if we would like a new steak we decoded to just stick with the ones we had since we were in a rush. Would recommend again hopefully just a one time mistake."

  • " Great experience overall. What stood out and really made this place so different from other steakhouses was the high level of service. The staff from the busboys to the waiters were all professional throughout the experience and made us feel well taken care of. Also the restaurant is really beautiful with great tables right at the front of the second floor so you can view the action below. The bone in ribeye was cooked perfectly as well."

  • "Nothing memorable. Wine list is overpriced. Guests are mostly tourists due to location - but lack of locals is telling. Service once started (20 minutes of nothing at first) was decent and thoughtful. Shrimp cocktail was a bit rubbery. Sides were overcooked and watery. Filets were cooked perfectly however. It seems to be hanging on but in such a competitive steak market, it needs to up the game."

  • "Seated immediately even after arriving late for our reservations. Staff was extremely attentive, service was impressive. The lobster bisque had to be one of the best tasting I have ever tried. We split the Bibb salad which was delicious. My boyfriend a huge steak fan chose the filet which was " out of this world". And the most tender cut of me theta melted in yor mouth. Add the blue cheese side to go with your steak. For those who are not big meat eaters, the seared tuna was exceptional. They brought out the largest slice of cake I have ever seen for his birthday noted fr the opentable reservation. Thanks for making this night memorable one for my boyfriend's 40th bday!"

  • "Able to hear your companion, which is rare these days in NY restaurants. Steak was perfect. Service couldnt be better. The chocolate cake could feed 10 people!"

  • "I consistently go back to Striphouse for business dinners and dinners with friends. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, I like the bar and ambience in the restaurant and although the restaurant is always full and bustling, I can actually hear my guests. I sometimes have a difficult time being able to hear my clients and guests across the table in loud steak restaurants, which is very frustrating when you are at a table of 5 or 6 people and can not hear the person across the table speaking. Not the case at Striphouse, it is just the right amount of background noise and energy but still allowing for great conversation with your party. The seafood dishes are also excellent here along with the sides. Highly recommend it!"

  • "Terrific food for a hungry group of hockey players. I recommend that you share appetizers, sides, and dessert. Double check your bill as a few stray drinks ended up on it. My fault for not doing so. Going to visit again. At about $120 a person, you get more than you pay for."

  • "This is a great place. Nice ambiance and great wait staff. My wife had Kobe skirt steak which was very good. I had the bone in ribeye which was wonderfully prepared with an excellent pepper char. One of the best tasting steaks I ever had. We will definitely dine at this place again."

  • "We ate here on a Sunday evening. Seated in the downstairs area, there were only five tables occupied. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. However, when our food was brought out, it was given to the wrong people, sat in front of them for awhile while the waiters brought out our sides to them, and after some discussion, was transferred to us. For a $55 steak, I want it brought directly to me from the kitchen and not cold or second hand from another table. This experience plus the food being cold did put the damper on a nice, expensive evening. We were brought complimentary desserts of their choosing for the mistake but that didn't make up for their error. Not what we expected since we had eaten here before and it was much better."

  • "We were very happy with our dinner last week. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the truffled creamed spinach was very nice. Surf n turf tartar is a must. We will be back soon"
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "The food was very tatty and well prepared. The service was quick but lacked the pleasantness that you would expect from a restaurant of similar quality/price range. Our waiter in particular was quite rude and disinterested."

  • "Strip House Midtown was excellent. Definitely one of the best steakhouses in the City. Started with a classic Manhattan, which was superb. The Seafood Platter is of the freshest variety, the Kobe Strip Sirloin is exceptional as are all the sides, especially the fries cooked in goose fat."

  • "The service was excellent and the restaurant it self is superb. I took my daughter, son, my daughter's best friend, and my son's best friend for dinner and the all loved the food and atmosphere."

  • "Good food, but not as good as the prices would lead you to expect."
    Dined on 6/7/2014
  • "The ambiance was very nice except for the background music. It didn't match the overall feel of the place. It was kind of a Motown mix that felt like it should be playing at a bar scene rather than a fine dining establishment. The service was very good. No complaints there. The food was also very good. Nice NY strip, goose fat potatoes and tomato mozzarella salad. The sea scallops were just OK. Only 2 of them to boot. We skipped dessert, but since it was my birthday they brought out of very nice slice of NY cheesecake! Overall it was a good experience but really, NYC is getting more and more out of my financial reach. Too bad."

  • "Waitress that read the specials should have been entered into an auctioneers speed-speaking contest or she should come with a text teleprompter. We didn't get a word of what she was saying. However, what we did order (off the menu) was both well prepared and well presented. I will likely return but I want to take sign language before I make reservations!"
    Dined on 6/6/2014
  • "The service was great but the food wasn't that impressive. Drinks were great but the food compared to the price was questionable, very salty. Maybe I would've been less disappointed if I didn't go with the steak."

  • "I took my 2 teenage boys for their first fine dining experience. They were amazed at the outstanding service as well as the fabulous food. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. All of the sides were a lovely complement. They called the wait staff the secret service because we dropped a knife and they came running so fast! We will go back for another special occasion."

  • "We split the Porterhouse and it was tremendous. Great char on the outside with deep flavor and cooked perfectly inside. The truffled cream spinach and au gratin potatoes were delicious. The atmosphere is pure steakhouse with flocked wall paper, intimate booths and great service. My only quibble is too few red wines by the glass at reasonable price point (<$25/glass)."

  • "Absolutely fantastic - The food was amazing and the service simply outstanding. I celebrated my Birthday here and was given a great cake at the end complete with candle, a lovely touch! "

  • "Simply put.... the combination of food quality, menu variations, service, and atmosphere were superb. We enjoyed the seafood plateau which at a half size was worthy of two entrees in itself. We also had a bone in filet and American Kobe steak which in my experience was the best steak I ever had in NYC. Desserts were excellent as well. Their signature chocolate cake can feed 2+ people easily and was outstanding. There is nothing at all critical I can say about our dining experience. Go here and enjoy!"
