Diner Reviews
  • "Strega was a perfect to have a birthday dinner.Great selection of wines, appetizers and entrees. I would be amiss if I didn't mention the great people watching venue. We will definitely return."

  • "Strega Waterfront is becoming an enigma---the food is consistently high quality, but the service is consistently disappointing. I would think it would be a problem that's easily addressed, but it's not happening. This was my 2nd visit in 2 weeks....same outcome.....the food is very slow out of the kitchen and the waiter was inattentive. Fortunately, our parties were in no rush either evening, but there's a limit on what a person can tolerate. The restaurant continues to attract celebrities (Mark Wahlberg was there one evening) and there's a lot of buzz....but Nick needs to pay attention to what's going on in his restaurant...particularly with the non-"A" list guests."

  • "As usual, Strega Waterfront was wonderful. First time my husband was there and he was very pleased with my choice of location for lunch. I had been there several times with friends and each time the food, the staff and overall restaurant appearance was outstanding. Will be back soon."

  • "On the waterfront, dining is so special, and when the meal is that good, the experience is outstanding. Strega has numerous restaurants now, but I love the one on the water the best"

  • "Good was good! Waiter Tony was friendly! A celebrity came in and it seemed like the owner and staff forgot about the rest of us. Owner pushed past people to go to the celebs table and I think he should have graciously stopped to quickly tell other customers he was passing; thank you, are you enjoying your meal? Otherwise, we had a nice time."

  • "Strega was a great choice to celebrate my fiancées 65 th birthday. The size of the mussel appetizer was disappointing but the food was delicious. We would definitely ho back! The service was great."

  • "Went to Strega Waterfront with family for dinner the other night; it was my 6th time there. As always... IT WAS OUTSTANDING! The service is wonderful and the Italian "theme" throughout the restaurant places you right into The Godfather movies! Everyone absolutely LOVED the food as well. Some ordered off of the standard menu and some from the list of specials for the evening. We were all taste-testing off of each others' plates and one bite was more magnificent then the previous! This restaurant is expensive but when you want to splurge for a special occasion AND get the food and service that you deserve, you have got to try Strega Waterfront!!!"

  • "Excellent waiter. NOISE LEVEL: Ate outside and was pleasant. There was a wall in front of us, so could not see harbor. Inside restaurant was very noisy. Enjoyed food; although, could be pricey depending upon choices. Ample servings."

  • "Made these reservations for my wife's birthday after hearing how great this place was. The food was mediocre at best. The gnocchi were like lead balls in your gut and the bone in rib eye was thin, flavorless and mostly fat. Their Hanover Street location is 10x better than this upscale higher priced sister restaurant. The only good thing We enjoyed was the bar atmosphere that we visited earlier in the day."

  • "Let me say that Strega Waterfront in Boston did not disappoint. I just wish I could say that one of our selections was unbelievably out of this world awesome, but they were not. Generally the fare was a step above the "normal" fare found at North End Italian restaurants but they were not exciting or overly creative. Would I go back, sure but I'm finding that the Federal Hill restaurants in Providence are offering more creative fare at a lower price point."

  • "Great energy, rockin' crowd, the kitchen got a little stressed but the place is just a blast. Food is more consistent in the North End but the Seaport is the place to be 'scene'."

  • "Had dinner here with two other friends/colleagues. The atmosphere in this place was hopping. It appeared to be a place for seeing and being seen, as there were many beautiful people here, and not just the staff. The service is fantastic, our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. The food, though. Oh, the food. We chose the seafood risotto, gnocchi, and the pappardelle. All were delicious, as were the salads we ordered. Very fresh and crisp, with just the right amount of vinegar & oil. The bread they serve is fresh, too - and the olives in the olive oil were even outstanding. We were too stuffed to try any dessert, but the ones we saw around us looked tasty. Maybe next time..."

  • "We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at Strega on the Waterfront and were very happy with the service, food and atmosphere. We had booked our reservation through OpenTable and when dessert came, they added 2 candles and wished us a happy anniversary. Outstanding meal and evening - we will definitely be back, and bring friends!"

  • "Waiter never returned to table after taking order to ask if we wanted another glass of wine (which we did) or to ask how everything was. At end of meal tried to rush us out until of asking if we wanted coffee or dessert. Very disappointing."

  • "Celebrated a special birthday with my family and was hoping for a meal that lived up to Strega's reputation. The consensus was mixed. The calamari appetizer was some of the chewiest texture we've experienced. My father could not chew it at all. We sent it back and got the shrimp on pineapple wrapped in prosciutto. The shrimp was very salty and dry but the pineapple was amazing. The burrata was incredible as was the scallops in grand marnier. Our entrees fared much better but for the price point I've had better food elsewhere. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was impeccable, professional and attentive (Claudio). Great tiramisu! I would try it again."

  • "This past weekend, a friend and I visited Strega for lunch. Upon entering , we were promptly seated in a nice spot by the window. Diners to Strega should be aware that on the weekends they serve their Dinner menu all day, and this is something that is not terribly clear when making reservations. Since we had other plans for the day and wanted to avoid a huge meal, we asked if we could split an entre and a salad. The staff were more than accommodating, brining us extra plates and silverware. We had the Spinach and Pear Salad, and the Seafood Risotto. The Salad was beautifully executed served with the pear on the side , and you could not take a scoop of risotto without catching at least 2 pieces of wonderfully coked seafood."

  • "On a whim we decided to walk here from the Fish Pier area (already had a fill of seafood, and were considering the north end, but it was raining). The very creative food and excellent service proved to be comparable to several of the North End places we've experienced. Ambience was good (quiet and nice view is looking at the waterfront vs. the true Italian experience), but a close walk was apropos on a rainy day."

  • "I took a friend to dinner for their birthday but was very disappointed. The food was only good, not exceptional by any means but the prices were exceptionally high for what we got. I would not go back or recommend to anyone. What a shame"

  • "I was very surprised that a dish of macaroni for a kid was $26 and the waiter did not say anything and not even a meatball to go with it. At this price I will never return to this restaurant until it becomes kid friendly....."

  • "I was expecting to be wowed. I loved the atmosphere, the vibe the restaurant itself was very inviting. The rollatini appetizer was excellent. But the clams and homemade pasta was dull and without flavor. The cheesecake tasted like something you would but from a grocery store."

  • "The World Cup was going on and it was fun to watch the entire restaurant (except for us, haha) to be into it. Service was great, food portions a bit on the smaller side. The mac & cheese (w/o the lobster) was a little bland. Not enough bread crumb/cheese. We will go back again."

  • "Our first visit to Strega didn't disappoint. Everything was just fine---food, service, atmosphere, value for the money. I would recommend it to others. But, I also wouldn't list it as outstanding. It was simply a solid, somewhat upscale restaurant experience."

  • "I have been to Strega before and had an excellent experience so I was eager to dine here again 1 year later. It was a special celebration and I had noted that in my Open Table reservation. Upon arriving we ordered Dom Perignon by the glass to toast with. Much to my surprise we were served flat champagne; I'm talking about no streams of bubbles coming up from the stemware at all! I was disappointed that they were trying to pass off $40/glass champagne that was clearly undrinkable; shame on the bartender for not realizing this! As the night progressed I must say the Food and Service were outstanding. Very disappointed that the pastry chef couldn't write congratulations on the dessert plate; would have been a nice touch!"

  • "Food was great but If I had known that it wasn't actually ON the water, I would've just went to the one in the north end."

  • "Eh... not a lot of detail in the menu and found it to be surprisingly devoid of options..also it was strange to me that they played television so much for such a nice restaurant.. at one point I looked up during our family lunch and saw some movie with naked women playing...at noon on a Saturday... a bit much for my taste"

  • "I booked a group of VP's from my office here as I had experienced a very good meal about a year ago. They came back and said the service was abysmal. Wrong drink orders, waiters just standing around not offering service and one waitress actually broke one of the diners wine glass on the table in front of her - she never said she was sorry - just mopped it up and left the broken glass on the table! It is too bad because our office is nearby and we could send many groups there for dinner but I will not be booking them anymore."

  • "Went on Father's Day but it did not appear to be unreasonably crowded. We ended up waiting over 1.5hrs for our food to be delivered! The explanation: the kitchen was still trying to figure out the menu. While they did comp us our dessert (which were very tasty) even those took awhile to be served! The food was fine; not horrible but also not remarkable. We had the beef brisket, lobster ravioli, and salmon."

  • "This place is very very expensive but the food is special and consistently delicious. The seafood appetizer special with the balsamic reduction sauce is brilliant. The home made pasta with wild mushroom truffle cream sauce ! Woweeeee...must have had 7 kinds of perfectly cooked mushrooms. Boyfriend had stuffed lobster tail and a grilled filet melt in your mouth perfection. Can't wait to save up and treat ourselves again!"

  • "Very cramped Seatting we ordered Crab and avocado salad , underwhelming unseasoned would've benefitted from some acid and salt ,my husband had filet cooked perfectly but very standard fare nothing special I had the braised short rib with fettuccini , pasta was thick and chewy basically tasted like a low quality beef stroganoff , never again Strega"
