"We have some food restrictions & the waitress was outstanding in explaing various & multipe dishes. The restaurant was empty, so we didn't feel too bad & she was so gracious. Problem was we don't like spicy food. We had eaten here before & had a great meal. I wish I could have remembered what I got last time. I eneded up having, I think, the most expensive item on the menu for $34, seabass in parchment. For that $, I thought it must be a whole fish! Wrong- in total the fish weighed 2-3 oz max! Plus I had to remove some jelly part of a fish you sometimes get. The taste was good, but I literally went home & ate another meal I was so hungry & felt deprived. Other couple love spicy, had plenty of choices. 3 other entrees were nice size"

"Food was ok. Lighting was very poor. Too dark to see what's on the menu. Had to get out the flash light application on my phone to see. Noise level was terrible. Couldn't hear the person next to me. Don't like a place where I can't see what I'm ordering or eating, and can't hear what's going on."

"higher priced filet mignon dish was the most disappointing - 4 small slices, each 1/4 inch thick. not nearly as tender as I was expecting (cooked Medium) and 1 of the 4 had a big piece of inedible tendon or something - rubbery.

also, the Roti was doughier than I remember. it was much better a few years ago.

in addition, no other dish wowed me.

on the bright side, waitress was nice and polite."

"Had a friend from the east coast here so given the three hour time change I made a 6:00 PM reservation. There was one other table with guests when we arrived. We ordered wine and small plates which all came at the same time. The table was over flowing with food, plates and glasses. It is not as if they were busy and needed to turn the table quickly! As for the food it was marginal at best. There certainly is a big difference between this Straits and the one in Burlingame. I have been to the Burlingame restaurant many times and really enjoy it - these two establishments are not in the same league."

"The restaurant appears to be in the middle of changing ownership.
The food: we ordered 5 different appetizers. The roti, samosas, mussels were great. The tofu salad was awful and the spring rolls had a gelatinous ingredient that was disturbing.
the waitress was great, but the bus boys were obnoxious to the enth degree. Every few minutes they would take turns to stand over the table and take away plates, not just the ones you were actually finished with, but ones that still had food on them. After the 8th attempt I told them we would hurry up and leave so they could have all the plates.
we felt so unwelcomed, and even though they had more empty tables than full, felt like they wanted us to leave.
would not recommend to anyone"
