Diner Reviews
  • "The broccoli salad they serve seemed "old". the broccoli was not crisp-which sort of ruined it for me. Also the french fries were not crisp-needed to be cooked longer. Philly steak had American cheese instead of mozz or provolone-. Nice place-probably will try it again."

  • "Food was decent. Quite loud inside so we requested seating on the outdoor porch. My husband had swordfish which was very good. I had the lasagna. Th bottom half was burnt and my waitress never asked how everything was or told us the specials."

  • "Corinne was excellent. Very attentive but not intrusive. She got a good tip. I had the swordfish. The dish was great, but the portion of fish was 30-40% too much. The other 3 people said their dishes were excellent except other man in the group had the filet. He could have eaten twice that amount of meat. We will be back."

  • "They sure have a nice way with fried green tomatoes - which are gluten free, for those that care. Next time I'll just order that appetizer and a glass of wine and be totally happy!"

  • "Restaurant is consistently good. Uses good quality ingredients. Only downside is that it can be very crowded due to a prime location in a touristy town."

  • "Had a lovely table by the fireplace on a chilly night. Service was excellent and food was very good."

  • "My wife and I had heard good things from our friends that have eaten at Storie Street Grill so we had to eat there. With the grand parents watching the kids we were able to have a wonderful 4th anniversary dinner without any screaming involved. Both of our meals were great and the service was even better. We'll be back soon."

  • "We have gone here for years and it has always been a favorite in Blieing Rock. However, the last two visits were not great. We had both chef's specials and both were not prepared well. The pork was over cooked and the rice with the scallops was crunchy. Not sure what has happened in the kitchen but it needs attention."

  • "An excellent evening at Storie Street. Great Salmon and Pork entrees"

  • "I have never felt a need to review a restaurant until now. We ate here on Saturday night, Feb. 15, 2014. It was the worst meal any of us had ever had . I ordered Chicken Parmesan. It was burnt and can with little to no sauce. We ordered a shrimp pasta dish and was told later they had run out of shrimp. We ordered a Caesar Salad and was told after they did not have any romaine lettuce. Unfortunately we sat next to the kitchen and were able to watch the "chefs" cook. It was not very appetizing to watch. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!"

  • "Food is dependably good and there are plenty of choices, especially at lunch. Unfortunately it can get crowded and there's not much space for waiting inside the restaurant. This can be a problem in bad weather."

  • "Again, our favorite restaurant in Blowing Rock served us delicious food. We were glad to have Will serve us, since we had such good service from him when we were there around Halloween. We always get the seafood special and the steak special and have never been disappointed. We enjoy eating early, around 6, before it gets crowded."

  • "My wife and I were looking for a special place to enjoy a nice dinner while we were on vacation. This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend of my wife's. The service was good, as was the quality of the food. We tried to pick entrees that were "outside our comfort zone". I chose the duck, my wife chose the chicken ravioli. Both were well prepared, adequate in portion and attractive to the eye when presented. Highly recommended."

  • "Delicious food. Ordered calamari and Caesar salad with entree and probably could have not ordered them since entree was so large. Glad we did ordered them however because both were fantastic. Had enough left over entree so that we had it as leftovers the next night. Waiter very knowledgeable."

  • "The Story Street Grille is a very nice place to eat and the food is quite good. The location is perfect for a quick walk if you are staying near Main Street. The staff is friendly and attentive. The outdoor rear deck is very nice as well. I look forward to going back the next time we go to Blowing Rock."

  • "Been here b4. We were the first customers, but it took us 10 minutes to get our first drinks after ordering. Took 23 minutes to get our salad (which was their arugula salad - mostly arugula and spinach, 1 tbs cranberries, 1/2 a slice of red onion, maybe 1 tsp almonds w/fried brie $9). DH had lasagna and I had the stuffed chicken al vino. Lasagna was ok. Not as good as usual. Chicken was dry, asparagus and potatoes were fine. Dessert was chocolate cake. (forget what it was called). We asked for ice cream with it. It never got added. Cake was a little dry. Tasty flavors but dry. We expected better service and food. Storie Street seems kind of hit or miss. Sometimes great. This time not so much. Based on today, we would not recommend to you!"

  • "We're from out of town so I don't know about the bar scene or late-night, etc. The food and service are excellent. Really loved the fried asparagus and fried green tomatoes. Always come here when we're in town."

  • "Never had a bad meal here. The quality has been consistent over several years. Much prefer the dinner menu to the lunch offerings."

  • "Our once-a-year dinner at Storie Street Grill is always an excellent expeience and this year was no different. Always delicious food, excellent and courteous service and an all around pleasant meal."

  • "The on-the-rocks cocktails are very weak; considering that, the price was very strong. Lasagna was delicious, as always."

  • "We went to Storie Street Grille to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. I requested a special table and we were sat near the fire place which set the mood. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable. He did a great job taking card of us! The food was amazing. We highly recommend the duck wing appetizer. Next time we are in Blowing Rock we will definitely go back to Storie Street."

  • "We live in a large city and there isn't a dining experience there that can match Storie Street Grille! The food is outstanding and the service impeccable. We especially enjoy the varied menu utilizing local resources. The bread pudding was amazing and for lunch, the burger is the best we have ever had! Laurie, Samantha, Paige and Chef Stan are obviously committed to consistently providing the best the area has to offer. Thanks, Bernie, for bringing this gem to the High Country!"

  • "We eat at SS frequently and are never disappointed. The new fall menu offers great variety and the specials are always interesting and delicious. Recently we ate there for lunch. The special was a barbeque sandwich plate. The barbeque was absolutely wonderful with a tangy, crisp sauce. I selected the fried okra as a side, and it was perfectly prepared. My husband ate the soup and sandwich combo, selecting tomatoe-Parmesan soup with a turkey and brie croissant sandwich. He declared both delicious. The service is always excellent, and if you are fortunate enough to have Will as your waiter, your dining experience will be enhanced. He does a fabulous job, but all wait staff, including the hostesses, are knowledgeable and friendly. Enjoy!"

  • "The food here was fantastic. My wife got the Butchers Filet and it was good perfectly and had great flavor. I got the pork chops and it was delicious as well. Will definitely go back. I would definitely recommend a reservation as this place isn't big."

  • "Blowing rock was jam packed on fall Saturday . Had to wait 20 minutes even with reservation. Sat on porch and even with Heaters it was just ok for ambience, noise etc. food was good and prices reasonable. A little long getting out of kitchen but as noted it was busy.;"

  • "Because the Grille is now on Open Table and we can make reservations, we booked. In the past we choose other restaurants that take reservations. We were delighted with our meal selections....fried catfish was quite good. Overall experience was quite good and we will now put it on our list of choices."

  • "We would highly recommend this restaurant . Their attention to every detail is great, waiters are well-trained and attend to every detail during your meal, the food is spectacular, and you can tell it is freshly made and served WARM to your table not cold. A perfect evening."

  • "We had a 6:45 PM reservation and arrived about 10 minutes early. The receptionist said she could seat us immediately if we would like to sit outside where she promised it would be very warm (it was a cold evening). The outside dining area had been closed in and was quite cozy and actually turned out nicer than sitting in the more noisy main dining area. Our waiter was great...energetic, personable and very attentive. We chose the steak special with parsley potatoes and asparagus and it was very good but our fried green tomato appetizer was superb, We also enjoyed our choices of wine. Too bad the cheese cake ran out before we had a chance to try it. We absolutely love Blowing Rock and will definitely be dining at Storie Street Grille again."

  • "My wife and I live in Charlotte. We look forward to coming up in the fall to see the trees. We have made it a habit to finish off our visit with a dinner at Storie Street Grill. The food is excellent as is the service. This time we had a bottle of your house Merlot which turned out to be off and Paige gladly supplied us with a replacement and it was very nice. We talk about your restaurant to our friends and I hope that they remember it when they visit Blowing Rock."

  • "From online info, I was anticipating a lovely place to celebrate my birthday and my expectations were exceeded. The baked brie and naan appetizer was delicious. My NC trout entree with gouda grits and roasted asparagus was scrumptious. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her meatloaf entree and was ready to bring her husband to the restaurant. Delish cobbler with ice cream and great coffee for dessert. Yum! Lively ambience in a nicely-decorated space. Our server was outstanding in providing timely and spot-on service. I will return to the Storie Street Grille!"

  • "We make an annual trek to the NC mountains in the fall. Stay in Blowing Rock and this restaurant is always on our list. The food is excellent , the specials are always good. I had a NY Strip, great sauce, and sides. Wife had a stuffed chicken dish. Finished with a pumpkin cheesecake (made there of course). Beer was fine but I would prefer draft choices. For seating try and specify away from the door as the cold air can swoosh in when door is open. Be sure and use opentable to reserve."

  • "Stopped by in the afternoon while walking to confirm ressrvation. Dozens of people standing on sidewalk waiting for lunch - good sign I thought. Upon arriving for 8pm reservation, the hostess was harried and distracted so it took 15 minutes to get her attention back and get seated. Waiter, Will, was outstanding!! Every recommendation was spot on. We had a pasta, chicken, steak and fish - all fabulous. Thanks to Will for his attention to our party. So I would say we will be back. Just be prepared for the hostess stand chaos - too close to the bar for full attention."
