Stone's Cove KitBarFun and differentOur trip to Stone's KitBar was a lot of fun. The atmosphere was cool, the service was great, and the food and drinks were both delicious and reasonably priced. There will definitely be a second visit!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLOVED ITGreat experience for all - had a going away dinner for a friend at work.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Economical prices5th time back. Always new and inventive food...and with servings that are not gigantic. 4 ladies for b-day lunch. Hot and cold appetizer platter was wonderful. Best hot spinach cheese dip ever. Lobster salad with guacamole in small cones was also super. Chicken salad lettuce wraps were good. Little messy to eat by picking up. Tuna sashimi was great, I was told, as was a flatbread pizza. Drinks were unique. Loved the Pom Cosmo with a frozen pom ice cube. For 8 drinks, one appetizer, four main courses, with tax, bill was $150... Already plan to return for another ladies' outing on July 5.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA MA ZINGHad an amazing night here. Food is fit for foodies, lobster wraps, crab cakes, and best ever grits! Cocktails excellent, recommend the pear martini. Chocolate expresso dessert was fantastic :) They can easily handle gluten free. Well staffed with good pace! Wishing this restaurant great success and expansion to new locations.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Herndon Eatery! It is so nice to find a local restaurant near my work that has good food. They feature many different options from comfort food to healthy options, and the service is great. I highly recommend this place.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMShare, share, shareWe've eaten at Stone's Cove several times and really enjoy it. Our most recent visit was maybe our favorite. Previously we focused on a more traditional experience - an app or two to share and an entree apiece. This time we had Chili, the Mackinac, and Shrimp and Grits, ordered and served one after another and all shared. Even the entrees are smaller dishes so the whole menu really works well as a tapas format and you have a chance to try several of the fabulous dishes.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat atmosphere fantastic foodThe food was great. Lots of variety and a great concept. Would definitely visit again.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this placeThe menu here is amazing - unique choices and great cocktails. I've enjoyed everything I've ordered. Be sure to try the flatbreads!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways feel like a regular!Super friendly! ALWAYS makes you feel welcome! I would be heartbroken if they ever left. LOVE this place!!!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMVery ImpressedI love the concept and the food/drinks were incredible! Service is top notch! Prices are very reasonable.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMUnusual dining experience!Being seated around the kitbar (kitchen bar) is fun. The wait staff members all attend to all guests, instead of a server assigned to each table.
The food is creative adaptations of favorites. Many of the dishes are spicy, so do ask for recommendations and advice regarding ingredients. The wait staff preps all food at the kitbar.
The blue crab lattuce wraps are very nice with large pieces of crab throughout. The lobster cones are tasty. All ingredients are fresh and flavorful.
Do save room for dessert cones...my favorite are the chocolate, but key lime are wonderful too! They will mix and match flavors in the order of 4.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this placeWent once for lunch with co-workers and I had to take my wife! My wife and have dined here approximately five times now and we still enjoy going. We like going during lunch for a couple of reasons; 1-the kids are in school (mom/dad alone time) and 2-its much cheaper for two versus four (call me a tight wad but the dinning experience here is slightly expensive!!!). We love it, great food, the service is awesome, everyone is very friendly and did I mention the food is GREAT??? I would recommend this experience to anyone.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSeatingThe 4 cone desert was good once you got past the bland whipped cream that didn't have any sugar added to it. My other complaint was the seating. The bar stools were incredible uncomfortable. Sitting on a very hard stool made the experience unpleasant. The seating didn't make it enjoyable to stay and linger. If they were to add cushions to the bar stools would help a lot. I noted that the table and benches were the same, very hard surfaces. How can Stone's Cove expect customer to say longer than it takes to scarf down there food when sitting on very painful bar stools. It wouldn't have made a difference where we were seated as all the other seats were the same "hard surface".5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMService needs workGood food, great drinks and beer selection, but we had to ask several times for service. The idea is that all the waiters can help you but in reality they are so busy they seemed to have a hard time paying attention to anyone.
Will definitely go back but they need to improve that aspect.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome experienceThis place was great. I recommend making a reservation because seating is relatively limited. Wed is half price wine bottles!! The sliders and flatbreads are in a league of their own.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting concept of re-creatingInteresting concept of re-creating a restaurant set in a kitchen/bar, relaxed atmosphere as if you were entertaining at home and being in the kitchen with hosts and friends, I enjoyed it. Very friendly and attentive staff with reasonable prices, excellent management.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMMy first time to this gemMy first time to this gem in Herndon. Very interesting menu - while we waited for our table we were served ice tea as well as spoonfuls of chili ! Amazing service and a really fun place to go!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMy favorite place. Food alwaysMy favorite place. Food always good. Reservations recommended for lunch.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMVisited with 3 other women.Visited with 3 other women. Enjoyed the food sharing. Soup and lobster cones were favorites.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply AmazingWhat an awesome place!! I stay in the same neighborhood but shame that I didn't try this place earlier. They have limited menu but everything is cooked in front of your eyes and every item on the menu is superb. I had crab lettuce wrap with avocado and mango.. it was served in cute plate with 5 different sections. you make your own wraps and enjoy. cute little chocolate expresso ice cream cones are equally cute and delicious. I am chocoholic but I loved keylime ice cream with crackers too. Service is amazing.. Had small different conversations with the staff members. When you see your food getting cooked in front of your eyes, you can't ask for anything more.. Amazing cocktails too.. Overall a great place for a date or group to hang out.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat suprise find!Really an outstanding set-up. Nearly every seat is at the bar. The food is made in front of you and the staff interchange is part of the brilliant experience. We ordered a few small plates and watched as many other wonderful dishes were prepared. The food was excellent and the presentation was impressive. We will be back again at the first opportunity--and again, and again!4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second visit andThis was my second visit and it was better than the first. Everyone is very friendly and attentive and the food was great. We especially loved the hot spinach dip, and I am no fan of spinach. Have recommended it to friends and will go back again myself. Wish they would put one in Rockville or Bethesda.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSatisfyied not StuffedSatisfied not stuffed. Too many restaurants today serve you too much food and rush you in and out. Stone Cove's concept of ordering small plates and sharing them makes for an interesting, conversation-filled, non-overeating experience. Great servers.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything is fun and fullEverything is fun and full of life. Great food tapas portions. Great staff!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food and excellent service.Good food and excellent service. Will continue to dine at this restaurant.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA bit on the pricey side.A bit on the pricey side. Good for a date - new or timeless.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't miss this place!Best restaurant in Herndon, VA. Probably the best in Northern VA and DC!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second visit toThis was my second visit to Stone's Cove and I can't wait to go back. Love the "KitBar" concept and the open kitchen. If you're worried about sitting at a bar with a group of friends, don't be. You can make reservations and sit at one of the expanded bar areas where you'll be able to almost sit face to face. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Stone's Cove accepts reservations. The menu isn't huge but everything I have tried has been wonderful. I especially like the Beef Tenderloin Sliders (tender beef on great buns) and the Mackinack Roasted Flatbread is amazing. We couldn't resist ending the meal with the S'mores Flatbread which was equally delicious. It gets busy fast so make a reservation during prime times.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Kitbar is a great restaurant. The Kitbar is a great restaurant. I have been here 4 times and I always have fun. It is very unique in its design as well as its menu.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, friendly staff.Great food, friendly staff. Loud! Every seat is a bar stool, the seats surround one giant kitchen/bar.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and service.Outstanding food and service. This place is GREAT!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat place to meet for lunchgreat place to meet for lunch or after work with friends or family. the staff is excellent and know all details of the dishes on menu. friendly atmosphere where they make you feel special. excellent food and cocktails ! love the place!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA KitBar is a great concept.A KitBar is a great concept. The kitchen is inside the circular bar and the servers are waiters, bartenders, and cooks - rolled into one. The small bites plates were delish and the service was outstanding. Would definitely recommend this place and will go back.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth a Drive from Delaware! My friends and I love this little Kitbar nestled in the ClockTower Shopping Center in Herndon, VA. I drove all the way from Lewes, DE to meet my friends their for lunch on 3/14/13. Love so many things on the menu it never gets tiring going back.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMtook just a few minutes to get "kitFirst time and not quite what i expected in a good way. I will be back for a interesting selection of food and drinks!2/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Neighborhood Foodie HauntStone's Cove is a breath of fresh air for suburban foodies who want to avoid chain restaurants but can't afford to go "all out" on a regular basis. The menu is full of flavors - and the restaurant is full of energy. I only wish they would rotate their dishes or expand the menu slightly since after a few trips I feel like I've explored the majority of it. Cocktails also taste vastly different depending on your server - for better or for worse. If they could make the quality more consistent it would get an excellent rating, but as it stands I would happily go back and it's a great place to unwind.2/7/2013 12:00:00 AMnice concept as bar wrapsnice concept as bar wraps around the entire kitchen and you find your self sitting next to other groups of folks. not a huge menu but many good choices. we really like the tomato/mozz salad and was a good size portion. the flat breads were good and we went with the spinach option. it was a bit heavy on toppings and came close to tasting like a spinach dip. the lobster cone was very disappointing. it was a lobster salad which tasted just like a tuna or chicken salad. hard to get tast of lobster or see any pieces.
the desert was very good, a mix of key lime and choc. that we really liked. good beer selection and overall some place we would probably try again1/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFun Place for Evening with FriendsWe went there with friends. I had never been to a "Kitbar" before and was a bit surprised at the set up. But quickly adjusted and enjoyed the evening. Our group of 4 wandered our way through the menu, sharing numerous small plates. Almost everything was very good, standouts were the shrimp and grits, the Mackinac flatbread and mahi mahi. We did not care for the Boubon steak "edibation" -- maybe we just aren't "bourbon" folk. The service was very attentative and good natured -- I enjoyed that. Great place for a casual evening out with friends.1/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
