"This place ALWAYS delivers. We visit a couple times per month and really appreciate the service and total experience. Yes, it is expensive, but in south OC, where else can you go for this experience? There is a new menu now... next time we will try the tasting menu."

"I was traveling and stayed at the St. Regis. Our first night dining we ate at StoneHill. The meal was delicious and everything I expected. The service was exceptional. We would definitely dine there again when visiting Dana Point again."

"We recently dined at Stonehill TAvern and were blown away by our delicious meal. We'd eaten here before and liked it, but it was so much better than I had remembered. The service was outstanding, the food--incredible. The presentations are as amazing as the tastes. One of our favorite meals ever...we can't say enough good things about this restaurant...."

"Absolutely terrible (and expensive) meal. We are members of the St. Regis and have been to Stonehill before, but something has happened to the menu. So many things were wrong they are too numerous to list here. Don't do it..."

"Celebrated our anniversary with dinner on a Saturday evening at this gem. Service was top notch. From the friendly hostess to the wonderful waitress and servers. Both hubby and I had the tasting menu. He loved all the courses (which were 6!) I loved them all but the 5th which was a lamb osso bucco but by then I had had such wonderful dishes, I didn't even mind! Instead of the wine pairing, we both just had drinks from the bar menu. Very good and interesting but next time would love the wine too. Even the valet service was a pleasurable experience."

"I first came here several years ago and loved it. The second time I went, I loved it a little less (the food was underwhelming compared to my first visit to the restaurant). This time, I don't even recognize this as the same restaurant I went to 3 years ago. The chef seems to have lost his passion; the lobster (MP) was overcooked; the amuse bousche was interesting, but did not accomplish the task of an amuse bousche; the tasting menu was less creative than it should have been.

I love Michael Mina and his restaurants, but this is one that I'm not sure the chef himself would approve of having his name on any longer. Stonehill Tavern was once a foodie destination; now, its merely an expensive restaurant at an expensive hotel."

"Food was great. We had the Rib eye cooked to perfection (rare) and Duck (excellent). Great wine, but a bit over priced. Marked up 3-times. $45 bottle for $120. My only real complaint is the wait time. We had 8:30 reservations and we weren't seated till 45 minutes later. We were asked to come back every 15 minutes to check and the hostess did not recognize me every time I went to check on our reservations. I had to continuously tell them my name and time of reservations. It made me feel uneasy about them not being able to remember me and that I might have lost my reservation if I wasn't standing around waiting."
