Stone Park Cafegreat for dinner**This review applies only to dinner (this is a popular spot for brunch, but I have never been--I have been turned off by the long lines and my assumption that they don't let you linger, so as to accommodate the maximum number of customers).
For dinner, however, this restaurant is phenomenal. I have lived in the neighborhood for a few of years and only went for the first time last week...and have been back twice already! The food is delicious and healthy. The cocktails are delicious. The service is professional and kind. It is not too loud (good spacing between the tables), and the temperature is ideal. I look forward to making this a regular choice for dining out, and I plan to bring family and friends when they come to the neighborhood.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurantThis is our favorite Brooklyn restaurant. The food is wonderful and quite inventive. The S-Th prix fixe market menu is an excellent option. The appetizers and the entrees are always superb and feature seasonal ingredients--usually one fish and one meat. They make their own ice cream and it is delicious. One of the best thing about this restaurant is that they take reservations so it is a good choice for adults and groups who do not want to stand outside in a line for a long time. We have always been seated immediately. Because the food is excellent and they take reservations, it is our go-to restaurant for out-of-town visitors who want to see why Brooklyn is so highly rated.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMUpscale and UnpretentiousThe dining experience that I enjoyed along with my husband and our friends was as upscale as any in Manhattan wiith a warm neighborhood feel. The octopus appetizer with chorizo and fingerling potatoes was a delicious take on Spanish tapas. My branzino was brought to the table whole and efficiently de-boned by our server. Cocktails were great. Although we chose to pass on dessert, I found the chewy little chocolate cookies that came with the check a nice touch! The hidden treasure of the menu is Stone Park's home made cavatelli and gnocchi, which are both exceptional; very delicate and sweet. I recommend either as a first or pasta course. Great place to dine with friends and linger over dessert, good port selection and cheese plate.
Although always crowded, we were seated promptly at our reservation time. The service was engaging and knowledgeable. Bartender makes a great Manhattan. The prices have gone up markedly over that time but it remains one of the most reliably excellent options around. This time, I took my sister and her pre-teen son, who were in town. My nephew has a very limited list of food that he will eat. We asked if they would modify one plate so that it would consist of nothing more than chicken and fries, which they did exceptionally well but charged a steep price.
