  • "Whenever I have friends or family visiting from out-of-state, I always take them to The Stone Cliff Inn, which is located just 3 1/2 miles upriver from my home. Nothing says "Oregon" like this restaurant. The log structure, huge stone fireplace, open floor plan, expansive deck, view of the Clackamas River, tall timbers, friendly staff, and a menu with a variety of delicious choices, all contribute to making this one of my favorite local restaurants."

  • "I made a reservation a week ahead of time for our anniversary. When we arrived I was told a lot of reservations showed up at the same time and we would have to wait to be seated 15 or 20 minutes. After being told that a reservation means basically nothing. There was nowhere to sit and wait for our table. I will not be returning to stone cliff."

  • "Went to dinner with my fiance here for Valentine's Day. The baby back ribs I ordered were crunchy, dry, and chewy. I've had a much better plate of ribs at Buster's. The stuffed lobster tail my fiance ordered was much better. The ambiance was cabiny, warm, and energetic."

  • "This was my second time at Stone Cliff Inn, the second for a special occasion and they were spot on both times. The food, seafood especially, is fantastic and I was with a group that is quite particular so you know it's good. We had reservations and were seated immediately even though they had a full house, drink order went in and came out quickly, they were running low on salmon so the waitress took extra steps to make sure our orders got in and accounted for. We didn't ever have to wave any one down for water or drinks, in fact the timing was always perfect. I noted on my Open Table reservation that it was my boyfriend's birthday and Stone Cliff provided a beautiful dessert for him."

  • "The restaurant was out of Salmon, which unfortunately is in about a 1/4 of the menu items and appetizers. They did not have a back up to replace the salmon, the hostess was forced to tell us that they were currently out of anything that contained Salmon at 8pm on a Saturday with reservation required. The service was ok, our hostess was friendly - but over loaded with tables. The pricing in my opinion is over rated for the quality of food served. They are charging for the view, which is very lovely - but does not make up for the quality of food. I was rather disappointed, I would not go back for dinner. Instead I would go for appetizers and a glass of wine on the patio in the summer as the Hawks View Pinot I had was very nice."

  • "We went for a Day After Valentine's Day dinner. I have eaten at the Stone Cliff before and it did not disappoint. I recently developed an issue with Gluten and our waiter went above and beyond to help me with a menu selection. Instead of saying "Yes these are our gluten free items" he said "you look and decide what you would like and we will do our best to work with your dietary needs". This was the first time for my friend, from out of town, had ever been there and he was beyond impressed. We will be back for sure!"

  • "We have eaten many times at Stone Cliff and taken many friends and family. This time however it was below average. My ribeye was bathed in a mustard terragon sauce which completely destroyed the taste of the meat it was supposed to enhance. asparagus was thrown on the plate and the rice was barely cooked at all. It seemed like I had just gotten the blue plate special at the kmart cafeteria. I said nothing to the wait staff as I decided the texture of the evening. We waited for Saturday night to escape the Valentine's day business so it was an overall disappointment. Having had many good meals there I would still return, but if the food was prepared as poorly as this time I would limit my order to a hamburger and beer."

  • "We went for a special occasion but the dining area was open and loud. Was expecting it to be a bit more intimate for the higher prices. Overall the food was decent. The location and the exterior appearance of the restaurant lends to a special dining experience but the inside atmosphere is more that for a fun family or friends' gathering. Would probably choose a less-expensive restaurant in the future for this type of dining experience."

  • "The food was good except for the vegetable which was dry and not seasoned. They ran out of several food options - lobster, prime rib, etc. The portion of the vegetable and garlic mashed potatoes was small. It was almost like they were rationing so they wouldn't run out of more food options. I would go again but not on a big holiday like Valentines Day. They gave the ladies a red rose which was a nice touch."

  • "We went for our 21st anniversary and were not disappointed. We ordered olive plate for appetizer It should have come with blocks of feta and bread but when asked server complied. Dinner was nice 20.00-25.00 main course and nicely cooked. Tuna was excellent. The table was a little dark and had to use phone to see menu. Perhaps two candles? There was no music but a back ground hum of some sort. Perhaps kitchen fan. Absolutely beautiful lodge and ambiance."

  • "We have dined at Stone Cliff several times over the years. It is very consistent and provides a relaxing dinning experience. We had the calamari, which we highly recommend. I passed on the ribs (which I seem to always order when eating here) and had the blackened Halibut, which was done very well. My wife had the rubbed pork which she said was very favorable. The restaurant was packed and the staff was very busy trying to stay up with things. Kevin, bar tender, is one of the best in the Portland. Say hello and he will take care of you. Overall, we really enjoyed the dining experience as usual."

Food was great (salmon cakes, crab penne and salmon oscar, birthday brownie and creme brulee). The view of the river and the fireplace provided the perfect ambiance. My prior visit (midday where we ate and chatted for several hours) was equally pleasing."

Very rustic and Pacific Northwest without being over the top lumberjack decor. lovely fireplace. great service, good food. prices were moderate, not for bargain hunters."

  • "There are so many chain restaurants in our area that we fall into the rut of frequenting. When we decided to take our-of-town guests to Stone Cliff Inn, we were not disappointed, nor were they. The rich local history and decor itself makes this place outstanding and unique. The food was wonderful and the service was fast, friendly, and our waiter made us feel like we really did matter. When we asked him to take our picture, he got several different angles, even standing on a chair to get one shot. Our guests want to come back, and so do we!"

  • "A big beautiful log cabin overlooking the Clackamas River. I felt like we should have to drive a lot further to get to a place like this! The food was great. We shared good sized salmon cakes with great salmon flavor. We both got steak and the bleu cheese crusted NY was fabulous! Don't skip dessert: the bourbon caramel bread pudding was to die for and more than enough to share. They had a very nice wine list and the sommelier was very knowledgable and helpful. I look forward to the wine dinners they plan to host. Service was excellent. We will be back."

  • "Booked our reservation for 4 and had to change to 5. When we called the restaurant was told they were really full and made a big deal about changing reservation and we would have to squish 5 onto a table for 4. We were surprised they had us set up at a table for 5 which was great. When we arrived there were open tables and still several open tables when we left; not sure why the big deal about us changing our reservation. We almost cancelled our reservation but glad we didn't. The service team was fast and efficient. The food was amazing. The Filet Mignon melted in your mouth, the Hazelnut chicken was wonderful, and the penne crab and alfredo was also wonderful. Overall we had a wonderful dinner."

  • "We have dined here many times in the past, but this time the food was less than expected. The spices and marinades were overpowering and at times unpalatable. The service was, as usual, friendly and efficient. We enjoyed our NYE dinner, but would have loved it more had the food been prepared with the diner in mind instead of what seemed to be something out of a chef's cook book where the chef didn't have to eat the steak he had just cooked!"

  • "I don't like a bar atmosphere in a restaurant and this one is bright and lively with gorgeous wooden beams and an energetic staff. We had the salmon cakes for an appetizer and were very pleased with the perfectly deep-fried, crunchy coating and the generous amount of salmon in the fairly large serving. We both settled on seafood, my wife choosing the Seafood Alfredo (which included halibut, clams, prawns and scallops) and I opted for the Crab Penne. Both were very rich dishes, prepared with a lot of garlic and butter, but not so much as to hide the desired crab and seafood flavors. Portions were quite generous, and we both were unable to finish our entree, which is rare for me. A great place to take a special person or couple."

Having traveled to Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego, Denver and LA this past year I have a foundation compare great restaurants and this one is right up there. This place takes home style cooking to a new level. Bacon wrapped meatloaf? This is not to be missed and is a hit for both visually and gastronomically! And portions? Chicago style as you will likely not be able to finish the mammoth plate of love. Go for the bread pudding and make sure you have at least two or three friends share because I guarantee you won't be able to eat one on your own. Great, friendly service and a beautiful view. I'll be back...soon. Brian our server ROCKED!"

  • "We had reservations and got a wonderful window table and also close to the roaring fireplace. The executive chef met us n took us to our table. We had the onion rings and smoked salmon platter for an appetizer. They were both delicious. Then our second course was the wedge salad with bacon and blue cheese and it was perfect. Third course was the seafood fettuccini and I had the filet migon. The steak was like cutting butter and cooked perfectly. The seafood fettuccini was loaded with shell fish n salmon. The sauce was perfect. The waiter perfect. We had a special night at a special place."
