Diner Reviews
  • "Phenomenal! Exceeded our expectations. The staff is attentive and welcoming. The food has beautiful presentation. All food we tried was fantastic! The beer choices were extensive, a variety or style for everyone. This restaurant will not disappoint for any occasion."

  • "Third time, it just keeps getting better. Will be going back in perpetuity. Great service, waitress knew all about the food and zillions of beverages on offer. Great ambiance - you can keep the beach with the wind, I'll take my Stone in the garden, thank you! Also, a last minute addition to our party was accommodated with only a 10-minute delay from reservation time - fantastic for such a popular place. Really appreciated the effort :-)"

  • "Stone bistro and gardens is an awesome place to have a group get together to celebrate (the birthday real beer float is delicious :)...) ; however the beer >>> food. The shepherds pie is very good and filling, would recommend a side of tortilla chips to add some crunch."

  • "The garden setting is beautiful, the brewery building handsome, great selection of beers and excellent service, but the food was mediocre. In particular, my albacore melt was cold, hard and way too spicy. The pickle looked like a delicious dill, but I had to spit it out as it burned the mouth. I had asked the server if my selection was spicy when I ordered. She said only the chips would be spicy and suggested substituting the garlic mashed potatoes. They were good. Otherwise it was a very disappointing meal."

  • "Being a beer snob I couldn't wait to go to Stone. The list of draft beers was amazing, and the bottle list was superb- lots of Belgian goodness. The bistro is huge- tall ceilings , lots of glass that looks into the brewery and out into the gardens. The food was excellent- much better than expected. Everything we had was outstanding."

  • "We had great service or server was very helpful and she knew how to take care of our babies. When the food was taking awhile to get to us she would keep coming back to talk to the babies and play with them. But our food did take awhile to get to us and it was cold. The flavor was good but could have been better if it wasn't cold. The salmon was also a dry. I dont know if we will be returning."

  • "Spent Saturday evening here with friends. Grabbed a reservation on Thursday with no problem. I would highly recommend a reservation. Yakisoba is fantastic. Chicken Tikka is delicious. Both can be done veggie. Friends pulled chicken & pork sandwich was said to be great. If you are not a fan of Stone's beers, no fear. They have a great selection of guest taps to please every taste. Wines by the glass in all price ranges."

  • "There were 4 of us bad we had a waiter with a fun upbeat attitude. We were there on a Friday night and it was beautiful outside with heaters once the sunset. Everyone enjoyed their dinner but the macaroni with broccoli and sausage was the best."

  • "Love the gardens , brought gsmy from out of town, non -beer drinkers and they loved it and the beer!"

  • "This is a brewery. But the food, I had the tuna with peppers, was extraordinary and creative. Couldn't have been better"

  • "Stone Brewery makes great beer and terrific food...and the service is always great. However, there should be a separate area for children...or not allow them at all. It was obvious that the parents that brought their small children showed NO consideration for the other patrons. The evening could've been fantastic - but allowing the children to play/climb by the pond/rocks/fire really made the evening a disappointment. We felt like we were at a playground."

  • "Food was ok, nothing special but tasty enough. The beer choices are why I went and I was not disappointed. I sampled 4 different beers, they had hundreds, and finally chose a full beer to finish my meal. The waitress seemed a little overwhelmed and I had to stop her for additional service. Once stopped she was knowledgeable and friendly. Over all I enjoyed my trip and would go back again, but only for the beer."

  • "Love the food here! It is a little on the pricier end as far as lunch goes, but it is such good quality that it is worth every penny. Highly recommend it if you love good food and amazing beer."

  • "My son wanted to visit a brewery/restaurant for his birthday and immediately Stone came to mind. We couldn't not get a reservation at the Liberty Station location so we chose Escondido. Even though it was very busy, we were seated promptly, before the actual time of the reservation. The servers were friendly and the kitchen was flying -- we received each course remarkably quickly. The kids with us could wander a bit through the garden while the beer-drinkers enjoyed Real Beer Floats for a birthday treat."

  • "We started with the Stone pretzels which was pretty tasty. Nice piping hot, soft pretzels. I also had the kale to caesar salad which was an interesting twist on a traditional Caesar salad using kale instead of romaine lettuce. For the main entrée my wife had the chicken schnitzel. The mashed potatoes and veggies that came with the chicken was ice cold. The chicken was hot at least. The chicken had a good flavor upon first bite, but then there was an overwhelming rosemary flavor that would take over. I had the arrogant brisket which I thought was excellent. The crispy onion straws, sweet potato mash, and beef went really well together. The greens on the side were perfectly cooked and very tasty."

  • "We have been there several times and have enjoyed ourselves. But we have had trouble picking the food from the menu because the menu is so unusual. Be sure and check out the menu before you go online and decide for yourself. Good service, beautiful restaurant, fun to eat there."

  • "This is a great place to go for the ambiance and beer. The food had exotic descriptions but in reality the food was uninspired . The only thing exotic about the food that it was spicy I think to fill in for the fact that the ingredients had no depth to the flavor. Great for groups who would enjoy drinking beer."

  • "This is the place to go when you want the BEST of everything....delicious food, great beer, amazing atmosphere and service. We ordered the bison rib steak and grilled pork loin. The bison and pork loin were juicy, tender, and full of flavor. We both loved the herbed spaetzle and garlic mashed potatoes, and also the presentation of the food. Afterwards, we ordered more Stone beer and walked around in the pond area. Very romantic! Lots of private areas to escape, sit and listen to the frogs and water falls. I have been to Stone many times, and each time is an unforgettable experience, which keeps me coming back!"

  • "Took family visiting from MI for Sunday lunch. Sat outside, very busy. Appetizers took forever, then lunch orders arrived too soon. Had the fresh catch, yellowtail & pasta salad. Fish was good, pasta was awful. Had flight, as always beers were great. Will try again hoping for a better dining experience."

  • "This should be our third or fourth time at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens - that makes it each time we've traveled to San Diego from Phoenix in the last few months! It's gotta be the service and the ambience, not to forget the great beer! They have seating for around 800 (yes!) guests and outdoor seating is fabulous! Service has always been top notch and all the servers are energetic and resourceful and more importantly they serve with a a smile! The food menu could have more short eat options, but hey with all those beers to drink, who's concentrating on food anyway? The quail fry is worth a spicy mention though! The only sad part is that they close at 10, which is at least an hour too early IMO."

  • "I found the pricing to be a little expensive and what I have noticed is that the same meal on less crowded days are better than on crowded days. The stinky plate was not as presentable and the Yacasoba noodles were not crispy like I had before.....They were soggy. But the beer was good....."

  • "I had the IPA / cheddar soup to start. Nice bitter bite and a little garlicky. Really tasty. I followed with the jidori chicken yakisoba. Topped with thin sliced pickled ginger. Very good also, and very generous portion. The beer list, of course, is always good. Served in small pours at lower price is great so you can sample. Absolutely cannot beat the garden. May sound boring, but bring a good book, sit in the garden, and sip a beer or three. Service is ok, and friendly. The food overall at Stone is just ok but my visit this day was the best I've had so maybe they're getting better."

  • "Great ambiance for someone who is trying to impress a first date but it’s like take a celebrity to your prom, nice to look at and talk about but you’re going to go home without a lot of… Obviously the beer selection is pretty good with something that just about everyone but that is about as far as the menu goes. The appetizer selection was limited in my opinion and the entrées definitely cater to the “foodies” and a bit pricey for my enjoyment. The staff was very friendly but in the end we ended up less than impressed."

  • "So many beer choices, even if your not a beer drinker there's something there for you to drink. The outside waiting area is fabulous & while kid friendly I wouldn't bring mine, I'm selfish and want the full experience The food choices are out of the ordinary but worth it!"

  • "My husband and I met our friends here for a kids free get together. We enjoyed a variety of beers and the food was the best it has been in a while. For the appetizer, we had the brussel sprouts with pancetta and pretzels. Both were very good and good portion sizes. For the entrees we had the Rockfish special and the brisket. Both were good but not spectacular. Same for the brownie sundae. I think you pay the money for the atmosphere and the beer which are excellent. It's nice to do dinner there once in a while but I would highly recommend sitting in the outside bar area instead and order appetizers and beer. Overall, we had a great time and it was a wonderful night!"

  • "This is a great place to dine, not only for the wonderful layout of the restaurant, but the tasty food. The only drawback is the noise levels, which can be a bit difficult for conversation. If you are seated at the second floor, this is less of a problem, but on the main floor, you do find that you will have to shout your conversation."

  • "The menu was great and very easily accommodated Vegan and Gluten Free dietary needs. The food was delicious, & fresh, the wine and beer list was excellent and the service was very friendly! The outdoor garden/patio seating was excellent and even on a cool evening it was cozy with the heaters on! Overall a great experience. I would definitely visit again!"

  • "A beer enthusiast, I was visiting from Boston on work trip, and took my boss - a wine connoisseur - to Stone. We went on the tour and then had dinner. The tour was quite informative, and accurate about the process of making beer, and the following tasting was comprehensive across Stone's beer styles. We ate dinner on the patio and the frogs were out in full force. It was a great change from the winter in Boston. The food offerings would be fit for any self-respecting foodie and featured fresh, local ingredients. A walk around the gardens revealed all sorts of nooks with outdoor chairs and strung lighting, very festive and inviting. I'd love to see it in the daylight! My only regret is that the store was closed when we were leaving!"

  • "This place rocks! From the food to the craft beers they are hitting on all 8 cylinders. Expect the service to lag as they have compromised in this one area. Many of the staff were found to be talking to each other and or not attentive to patrons needs. Reservations are a must on a weekend. The portions of food we acceptable. I have the brisket and would have like a bit more meat on the plate for the price charged. Overall the scene rocks and is bright and vibrant!"

  • "This was a great location for adults to spend several hours together. The setting was excellent, and fun to end the afternoon with a brewery tour. But plan ahead if going on a weekend, as there could be a long wait without a reservation. The menu was limited, the "omelet station" is a slight exaggeration (not very many selections to add to your omelet), terribly dry roasted potatoes - but there was a very good gluten-free pasta dish. Don't expect to be able to slightly customize your meal selection - the chef seems to have the attitude "it's my way, or the highway." i.e. no changes or additions. If we were to go again, we'd probably sit in the bar, enjoy some beers and appetizers, and enjoy the beautiful setting."

  • "We were in town on vacation & wanted a nice dinner for our anniversary - picked this place solely based on the availability and OpenTable listing. It did not disappoint. We had drinks and an app on the patio, where heaters and a flaming table kept the atmosphere pleasant, and dinner inside. It was a little noisier than we'd have chosen but not problematic. The dessert menu was uninspiring, but we were plenty full by that point anyway!"
