The Stockyard is a classic American Tavern that has served delicious steaks, seafood, and drinks to the Greater Boston Area for over 40 years. We take great pride in the quality of our food with beef that is aged to ensure the best flavor and texture. Entrees are prepared with the freshest and finest ingredients locally sourced, including our signature Lobster Pie. Open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week, we provide both public and private dining along with a 150 car parking lot.

Now under new ownership, the Stockyard has been refreshed and upgraded with spectacular new additions while still maintaining the unique and classic look of the former Stockyard. Features such as our u-shaped bar, one of the largest restaurant bars in the city, and the infamous Al Capone bar located in our private dining room.y

  • "We were seated shortly after we arrived at our reserved time. That was the highlight of our service. After sitting for a while we finally placed orders for our cocktails. A while later our waitress cam by to take our orders. Our cocktails finally arrived after we finished our salads and around the same time our bottle of wine arrived at the table. Our appetizer order never arrived, however we were not billed for it either. The meal itself was good, but our poor service diminished what should have been a much better experience."

  • "I frequent this spot almost 1x/month & am typically pleased with the food & service. This visit I took my elderly parents and was disappointed in the service & noise level. I was hoping a late reservation would avoid lots of noise - yet didn't anticipate the very loud table near us to be soo distracting. Luckily they left once our meals arrived. Next time I'll ask for a more secluded table in the back room. Service for this visit was very slow. We waited at least 15-20 minutes before we flagged down a passing waitress - who then realized we were her 4 top. Evidently no one told her. Disappointing for a Tuesday 8pm, when it wasn't very busy. Last visit had service issues too - one more chance before dropping $100/2. Food was excellent,"

  • "First I would say that my wife and I really liked the atmosphere. There was a lively band playing and the people were really enjoying themselves. We ordered the crab cake for an appetizer and both loved it. Unfortunately, the main dish was very disappointing. I learned about your restaurant from a tv show. The Lobster Pie looked so good and it being our anniversary I decided that I would splurge and get it. It was very bland and barely even tasted like lobster. Maybe it was just a fluke but for 36$ I was expecting to be wowed. My wife had the haddock and to be honest she only ate a small portion of it. I will say that the dessert was very good. I had the cheesecake and she had the apple crisp. Service was very good."

  • "I have heard of the Stockyard through a friend, I have driven past it many times each time wanting to try it. Finnally my wife asked me where I would like to go on date night & sugested The Stockyard because I wanted to try it so badly. We had a great meal, even though my wife's first choice of food wasn't up to par. The management was very understanding & curtious to us & switched the meal."

  • "This restaurant is good for any occasion. Enjoyed great food, excellent service, and a delicious glass of Sancerre wine. Nice atmosphere and layout, a bit noisy on a Friday night, but still pleasant. Booths appear to be good for 2-4 people, but I believe there are tables on the other side of the bar. The curved booth we sat in was very comfortable and allowed for private conversation."

  • "I was disappointed this time. We've been here many times since the 70's. When it reopened we were so pleased and the food and staff were great. This trip the sides seemed blah....my wife's prime rib was only half beef, the rest was fat...not steakhouse quality. The waiter rushed us and wasn't paying attention to details. My V.O. manhattan straight up, came out as on the rocks. This may be the reason not to return. Need to think about it. Really bummed we didn't enjoy it more."

I vowed never to go back until I found out they were under new management and had a new chef. We went for his birthday and the food and service was great. The ribeye was actually a ribeye. We didn't have to argue with our waiter about what cut of steak we ordered and what we actually received. We will be returning."

  • "This past Saturday night, we (2 couples) decided to come here for Dinner, I made reservations easily online earlier on the afternoon, which I was glad I did because the place was busy. we got there a little early so we grabbed a drink at the bar, which was full so we stood up in front on the large fireplace, the atmosphere was great. Out of the 4 of us only 1 of Us had been there before. Once we were seated we ordered appetizers, mini tacos and steak and cheese eggrolls they were both great but the steak and cheese eggrolls should be illegal they are so good. We all ordered different cuts of beef, and each one of us was cooked to perfection. Everything was fantastic! It was a great night out"

  • "I know this is a steak restaurant, but if a special is offered and it's seafood, don't bother. They tried twice to get the swordfish to be special, but it was some kind of special cardboard. First time very much over cooked. The second time cooked OK, but I think the swordfish had been frozen way too long and was dried out in the freezer. I'd say stick to the steak."

  • "We went on a Friday night (Valentine's day), the reservation was helpful. There was definitely quality in every sense of the word with everything we ordered, from oyster app to entree specials. This is especially true when compared to many other American restaurant within a similiar price range. The service was great, in fact probably the best service I've experienced for a long time in any price range restaurant (from the busser to the server). The server was able to make all the appropriate recommendations, very friendly and attentive service but not over bearing. A very nice find, strongly recommended!"

  • "This was our first visit since the re-opening of the Stockyard. We were happy to find it had finally gone back to being a place we will definitley go to for our "special occasion" dinners. The food and service were superb! No reason to head into downtown. Appetizers, prime rib, filets, seafood, right down to dessert.....we tried it all and were not disapointed. The staff was friendly and extremely competent. Looking forward to our next visit!"

The ambiance is still basically the same, but the staff and especially the food have definitely been upgraded if you like a little more variety and someone in the kitchen who will try some things. If you just like a slab of meat cooked well and tossed on your plate, then you may not like the menu changes. It just seems to be a slightly better experience overall. Simply put, it's a good, not great, Watertown/Newton/Allston/Brighton restaurant."

On the value side - you are much better off going to a Capital Grill or Del Frisco’s because for a little more money you get so much more value."
