A word from STK - Washington D.C.
STK artfully blends two concepts into one—the modern steakhouse and a chic lounge. A large central lounge area is furnished with creamy leather banquettes and textured crocodile tiles, and is surrounded by an elevated dining room for more formal dining. Theatrical lights illuminate each table, while a DJ creates an energetic vibe throughout the entire space. STK Washington D.C. is located in Dupont Circle and is in close proximity to D.C. attractions as well as being in the heart of the best night life in the Nation's Capital. As anticipated, steak is the main attraction. STK offers small, medium and large cuts of meat, as well as naturally raised options and market fresh fish entrees. Aside from steak, signature items include Parmesan Truffle Fries; Lil’ BRGs; Shrimp Rice Krispies; Sweet Corn Pudding; and Jump Lump Crab Salad.Continued

  • "Having gone to STK Midtown once and coming away impressed, I was excited to see STK arrive in DC. I went to the this DC location for the first time on Saturday and was not disappointed. The 16oz sirloin was cooked to medium rare perfection but the standout dish were definitely the creamy wild mushrooms. Amazing dish that I woke up thinking about the next morning. The mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were good although the potatoes did cool off slightly fast (which is to be suspected somewhat when you're making your way through a large steak). Great ambiance if you're looking for a fun night on the town. All in all, this was an excellent experience that I'll definitely repeat and recommend to friends. Welcome to DC, STK!"

  • "The restaurant is TOO LOUD. why is there a DJ on a Wednesday night at 8:45? Why there a DJ at all. You have no dance floor you are a steakhouse. Im not paying over $50 for a piece of meat to hear Paula Abdul and Mc Skat Kat in the background. I want to enjoy dinner with friends. I can't hear them from across the table. No one can hear the waiter and he can't hear us. I understand that you want to be "trendy" but your clientele would prefer you save the DJ for weekends or late nights. He doesn't take request so an ipod would be better. You should also tell the male waiter that to button his shirt. If I can't wear shorts he shouldn't have his shirt unbuttoned. On a side note the food was excellent, but all anyone remembered was the noise"

  • "STK D.C. offered a great lounge and dining experience. The steaks melted in your mouth, the cocktails were of hand crafted quality, tasty, and got the job done, and the doughnuts; I can't find words to describe these doughnuts. The ambiance is great music so that you don't know if you want to eat, wiggle your utensils, or put your glass up one more time. For foodies and cocktail connoisseur's only. Birthday Girl"

  • "My boyfriend are foodie snobs and love a good steak. We had eaten at the location in Miami and were so excited when one opened in DC (under new management). I took him here for his 34th birthday because I was really looking for a sexy, romantic atmosphere with a great steak. We found it, and being that I took him to Burbon Steak in the Four Seasons for his birthday last year, we had high expectations. I am a sucker for truffle anything and the truffle butter was amazing, and I am pretty sure I had a dream that night about the tuna tartar. The only disappointment was that there was no Sommelier. We can't wait to go back!"

  • "I had dinner at STK with two colleagues and couldn't have been more pleased. Regina, our server, was fantastic and really helped make the evening special. She and the rest of their staff all went above and beyond. Great wine and food recommendations. STK will be a regular stop for us when visiting DC."

  • "My fiancé and I had let STK know via Opentable we were celebrating our engagement. They had immediately congratulated us and brought us over some complimentary champagne, which was a nice surprise because I have requested different things before via Opentable and had to re-ask at the restaurant. However our meal was very rushed, we felt as if we were being pushed out the door. Total time spent there was one hour. If they would have let us relax a little but we probably would have drank at least one more drink a piece and possibly had dessert. I did not feel like having dessert since I felt like I gulped my food down. Our waitress was very nice though and food was great, just felt rushed out the door."

  • "I had high hopes. Our server was alright, she seemed nervous. There were about three other servers and 3 food runners. I felt like we were being hovered over and was the center of attention. I was uncomfortable and couldn't have conversation w/o someone interrupting every 5-10 mins. We ordered the shellfish platter to start, but she didn't even put it in because we got our steaks first. She forgot and we had to eat everything at the same time. The steaks were alright. The mac and cheese was the best part. The manager did come by about the mistake, but there wasn't really much he could do. Everything came out to a little over $200, which was not worth it. I expected more from this place overall."

  • "The best Rib-eye I've ever eaten!!! The Mac and cheese was delicious...I want more! The atmosphere was great for almost any occasion. Though not for those who like to eat in silence. The DJ played a great variety of music. Don't let the DJ at the bar fool you, this is a great restaurant (not a club)."

  • "If you're looking for a calm, simple steakhouse this is not the place. It is young, hip and energetic, which I love and appreciate. it is perfect for young professionals and a great place to meet up with friends/lover. I've been a fan of all the One Group restaurants and couldn't be happier this is in D.C.! You wont be disappointed!"

  • "The essence of the restaurant is high end steakhouse food with a nightclub ambiance. It does a great job at achieving this. The most impressive part was the high level of service. Every single employee that interacted with us was a 10/10. I didn't think it was too loud like some of the reviews. When choosing your sauce for your steak, I highly recommend the blue butter. Dinner for two with a couple of cocktails each came out to about $200 after tax and tip."

  • "We booked dinner at STK because we heard it was a great place to eat. Our experience was wonderful! The only low part of the night was when they brought the steak for my guest, it was the porterhouse, and it was way too tough to eat! We spoke to our waiter, and he immediately took it back. The general manager came over to us, and apologized profusely! My guest then ordered the bone in filet steak. It was amazing!! Everything that night was perfect except for that one small problem, I would not hesitate to go back!"

  • "Not a typical stuffy steakhouse great for a date or catching up with good friends! Nice sleek dining room, great old skool r&b background music(Stevie Wonder, Tina Marie, Michael Jackson). The Chilean Sea Bass was delicious as well as the 20oz NY Strip however the Cocktail Shrimp app was dissapointing in that it offered only 3 jumbo shrimp(not prawns) for $18. Overall enjoyed a great dining experience and will go back but keep in mind it is a Steakhouse on Connecticut Ave so fill your wallet!"

  • "My husband and I tried STK for our wedding anniversary dinner and we were blown away! The atmosphere was amazing, parking was convenient, and the food was out of this world. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. I can't wait to return!"

  • "Tried out the new STK in DC after having gone to the STK in Vegas. It did not disappoint - great cocktails, the tuna tartar was amazing and the service was great. The DJ was playing a great mix and our waiter, Will ,P was very attentive. He balanced the line of taking care of us while giving us time to enjoy our meal and conversation - plus his suggestions always lead us in the right direction."

  • "The steak is phenomenal and cooked to perfection. While it is a fun date night, it can't really be considered romantic because the music is extremely loud. It would have been nice if the volume of the music was maybe a little lower during dinner and then louder after dinner, but that is a personal preference. The place is really cool, though. It was quite an urban feel to it at first--loud hip hop when we got there around 7:15. It changed from that to more of a relaxed mix around 8:30 or so. Don't go there expecting a quiet conversation, but it is perfect to go there prior to going out. It also looked like everyone just having drinks in the lounge were having a blast, and while drinks are relatively pricey ($12), they are creative/delicious"

  • "My boyfriend and I came to STK DC for our anniversary dinner in June. We've tried the STK in Miami twice, and this location has the same "upscale" ambience. We ordered the rib eye, filet, Mac & cheese, broccolini, with the scallops and crab salad for appetizer. The sides were very good, the apps were a tad overpriced, and the steak was a 7 on a 1-10 scale. We each ordered 2 drinks after our meal since we decided to stay and listen to the music, which you could hear loud and clear from the dining area, and relax before club hopping in DuPont. We loved our waiter Marcus, who was very attentive and gave us complimentary champagne for our anniversary. Overall a great sophisticated atmosphere to enjoy in DC. Good job STK."

  • "Took my girlfriend to STK, which I visited solo a couple months ago when it first opened, after we watched the US-Germany soccer game. Liked it a bit more than on my first visit. She got the fois gras toast and chili-rubbed lamb. She took half of her entree home and reported the next day that it was just as delicious when reheated. I had the beet salad and pepper-crusted sirloin with au poivre, which I finished with gusto. We didn't have room for dessert. Our waitress, Regina G, was very friendly and efficient. With several drinks and tip, our bill came to $275, which didn't seem excessive."

  • "Disappointing lunch at STK. At 12:30, there were 5 tables. My iced tea was cloudy which meant it probably sat overnight. The server was unable to produce a clear glass--he said he diluted it with more ice. Great start. The bread arrived in a cute cast iron pan but was cold and dried out. Roast pork sandwich was greasy with a soggy bun. Seared tuna (in BLT) was overcooked and in one slab, not sliced. You cannot really eat that sandwich without dissecting it. STK is really a bar lounge. It's probably cool for drinks but I wouldn't bother to eat there."

  • "Although the setting and decor are beautiful, the restaurant and what they're trying to be left me confused. We arrived early and sat at the bar enjoying a glass of wine and waited for the remainder of our party to arrive. Unfortunately, after we were seated at our table a DJ arrived and the extremely loud music (not radio versions) started making conversation difficult. Although the waitress wished me Happy Birthday, it would have been nice if they provided a complimentary dessert. We each ordered steak and multiple sides to share. While the food was great, on par with Bobby Vans and other great steakhouses I've been to I'm not sure I would return due to loud, inappropriate music, in what is supposed to be an upscale restaurant."

  • "STK is pretentious, overpriced, pedestrian food, skimpy servings and service's obviously required patter is overdone, condescending and interferes with conversations. The patter made me feel sorry for the staff, especially with job market still so bad. Was worth a laugh - DuPont Circle is very far away from Las Vegas in miles and real sophistication."

  • "STK seems like a fun place to meet friends. The music played by the DJ is excellent. The interior is gorgeous. The hostess wouldn't seat our group until all of our group arrived even though the restaurant was more than half empty. Eating there on a weeknight around 8 pm was rough. It was so loud our group couldn't hear the waiter and the waiter couldn't hear our orders; very frustrating. The menu is sparse and over-priced for the quality. The service is just average. Most wine by the bottle is over $100/bottle. Wait staff isn't familiar with wine. It seems like before 10:30/11:00 pm, the DJ could lower the volume so that diners don't feel blasted out of their seats."

  • "I went to STK , as I have been to the NY, Vegas, & Atlanta location; went this past Moday and was expecting for it to be more like Magnum Mondays at the STK in Atlanta - music, DJ, champagne dinner, etc. but it was nothing close. The DC location just opened so it may take time for the word to get out. I will be back!"

  • "I am super bummed...I expected so much more. DJ doesn't start until, music was so so. Food was honestly so disappointing. We had just gone to BLT a month ago and it was phenomenal. STK is far from that. My husband didn't like the special fish they claimed was "amazing", my risotto was the worst I've ever had which another waiter claimed was "amazing". The sides were mediocre (we ordered three). The birthday cake dessert was so hard when it came out my husband had to use a knife to eat. My "decaf" coffee wasn't decaf and I was up all night (I blame myself for that). BUT on a positive note, I did love our waiter and made sure his tip didn't show how I felt about he food. I will def NOT go back. Not food isn't worth the price at ALL."

  • "I'd heard about STK coming to DC with the reputation of being a good sexy scene for young professionals to grab a drink, eat and hang out. It was just that. The food menu isnt really extensive with tons of options but the apps, and protein/seafood entree selection was enough for my liking so I was content. I enjoyed a yummy cucumber stiletto martini, yummy tuna tartar and a halibut entree with broccolini side. Service from the time I walked in at the hostess stand, bar, and throughout dinner was excellent. The interior of the restaurant was very sleek, elegant and sexy. Sort of hipster and modern which is just to my liking. Valet is available outside for $8 midweek. There was a DJ spinning background tunes. I'll be back for sure ;)"

  • "...just more modern/hip. Great interior design, awesome sides, and deserts as well. Very cool atsmosphere. We got the medium size filet - cooked medium well, and medium size sirloin - medium. Delicious! The creamed spinach and asparagus was tasty as well. The bag-o-donuts desert was the best desert I've had in a while. Just writing about it makes me want to go back ;-)"

  • "My husband and I came here for our three year wedding anniversary dinner. We ended up staying another three hours later than we intended to - the food was amazing and the service was fantastic! Regina is a gem - I wish all servers could be like her! In addition, the DJ was awesome and controlled the sound level accordingly throughout the night with a good mix of music to appeal to all audiences. I actually spoke with one of the managers about holding a work event here later in the fall! What a great addition to the DC restaurant mix, even though it is part of a larger group of restaurants - it's a great spot that truly puts DC fine and trendy dining on the map."

  • "Definitely can tell it's new... hostesses seemed confused. Took a party who had just walked up ahead of me to table and then said they thought i was with that party even though i had shown them who i was with. Waiter was fine. For the price, I would much prefer to go to a nicer steakhouse in town (BLT or Cap Grille, etc). But I do appreciate the ambiance, the DJ, and the general energy in the place. I think it's great for a girls night or group dinner (especially if you're going out after) and would definitely go back for drinks. "

  • "Wanted to try STK...went at about 6:30 on a Thursday. Take note.. the restaurant is VERY VERY loud!! It is stunning inside, but there is no separation from the dining room and the bar. There is DJ right there playing loud music the entire time you are eating. ( albeit, good music!). Just picture eating dinner in a club, great food, beautiful ambiance. Excellent caesar and wedge salad at our table.... lamb chops and strip steak... strip was unreal.. medium sized one, great flavor and extremely tender. Lamb was good..only one piece had the bone attached. No dessert.. If you are a group going out and in a festive, loud mood, it is perfect! If you are looking for a romantic, quiet spot, this is not for you! "
