Diner Reviews
  • "The owner was great and the food was great. I brought a bottle of wine and the cork exploded. Instead of getting frustrated they worked to get the second half of the cork out and as I expected the wine was great. Really great place to go."

  • "My brother, sister-in-law and I recently had dinner at Stiegler's near Jackson, WY and we had a great experience. The food is very authentic and tasted great. The service was excellent and very friendly as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a great Austrian meal."

  • "Steigler's has been open for a long time -- and it looks like it. Very Austrian, 1980's, kitschy. Lace curtains, plastic chairs outside. While the food was very good, it was also very pricey (even for Jackson). And the atmosphere just didn't do it for us--we were by many decades the youngest people in the restaurant. Stiegler's needs an update if they want to attract younger patrons."

  • "This was well worth the money!! The food and service was incredible! Probably the best meal we have ever eaten. We got the 30th Anniversary Special and it was worth every penny. Highly recommend this restaurant!! Since we were celebrating an anniversary it was cute that our meal was also due to the restaurant's anniversary. Coffee and dessert were amazing also! They gave us each a glass of complimentary champagne to celebrate out special occasion. Go, eat, you won't be sorry!"

  • "Welcoming host. Gorgeous copper bar. The menu was a range of well selected Austrian specialties and locally available meat, fish and produce. The small or "kleine" portion of trout was plenty large enough for an average appetite and was incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. The pork schnitzel was perfectly executed; the side portions of vegetables were cooked exactly right and went well with the meat/fish. We split a salad and enjoyed the fresh bread. Apple strudel is the chef's specialty and he is the only one who ever makes it. Save room but have it neat--without ice cream or anything that would overwhelm this beauty. They charge a $20 corkage. The food is a bargain compared to the wines; nothing under $40."

  • "With many excellent restaurants in Jackson and Teton Village, hidden inbetween these 2 locations in the Aspens is the superb Austrian cuisine at Stiegler's. Locals continue to return for the great food, Peter Stiegler the owner and its warmth and charm. Do not miss this when you come to Jackson Hole."

  • "We always enjoy Stiegler's. It's our special occasion location, as well as where we go when we just want to have a pleasant dinner out."

  • "This is our favorite restaurant in Jackson Hole. The consistent high level of service, outstanding food preparation and ambience are unequaled. This is the closest you can get to the authentic feel of experiencing a top notch Austrian restaurant without going to Austria. It is all the result of the hands on operations of Austrian born owner, Peter Stiegler."

  • "We celebrated our wedding anniversary here. Since the weather was great, we ate out on the patio. They kept our indoor table available for us in the event that it cooled off too much. The service was excellent and our server was very attentive. The food was very good as always. We did bring a special bottle of wine, and my only complaint is that they do not have the proper glassware for different wines. They use the same glass regardless of the wine type. Since they have wines on their list in excess of $300/bottle, you would expect they would have the proper glassware for serving them. That would be my only suggestion to improve the service. Never the less, this is a favorite restaurant of mine for special occassions."

  • "Stiegler's has been and remains one of the valley's outstanding restaurants. Peter's family recipes from Austria combined with some local creations of his own combine to make a deep offering of plates. Either in the Main Dining Room or the cozy Bar, the food, drink and ambiance are well worth the visit."

  • "We went to Steiglers for dinner after reading the yelp reviews and it was outstanding. Honestly it was the best Austrian/German food in the Jackson area. We were there at the end of the season so it was pretty quite. I would defenitly return to have the jager schnitzel again!"

  • "We were skiing at Jackson Hole and were looking for something other than a burger or steak. Tons of yummy things on the menu...wanted one of each! The smoked trout appetizer was excellent. Another at our table had the mint stuffed beef carpaccio and loved it. We had classically prepared sweetbreads en croûte. The service was excellent. We would definitely recommend the restaurant."

  • "Peter Steigler has consistently offered superb Austrian cuisine in his wonderful restaurant. The menu covers a wide variety of Austrian specialties, most of which come with three or four wonderful side dishes. Our favorite appetizer is the goulash soup and reisauflauf (rice soufflé cake) for dessert. The service is impeccable without being arrogant. We will be back whenever we are in Jackson Hole."

  • "We had a very enjoyable dinner. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Jackson Hole."

  • "As an Austrian decendent with a long standing love of Schnitzel the food was not up to European standards. The meat was thick and not pounded thin and the portion rather small. My son who has seen plates of schnitzel hanging over the plate in other restaurants was particularly disappointed. The Leber Knodel soup was the highlight. The meal was quite delayed but the server made up for it offering free desserts which was a nice touch."

  • "Old school with the waitstaff uniforms. A little more divided so noise is not so much a problem here as in other eateries. Every dish was really good. That's not easy for a lot of places to do. Reservations a must. The puff pastry wrapped brats appetizer was outstanding. Simple, but well executed. Entrees all tasty. Desserts were only area that may have fallen a little flat compared to the rest of the meal."

  • "The food was superb, and they have a good wine list. I regretted not meeting Peter Stiegler and having to sit under a TV screen. But the main room had a large party, and the fireplace next to us fit well with the Austrian Chalet decor."

  • "My husband and I had a delightful time dining at Stiegler's. Service, ambiance, and food were all seamless and wonderful without being stiff and snobbish. The ambiance seems more "formal" compared to others in this ski town in winter time, but you'll feel the warmth and coziness of the place. We were also impressed with their food. I was unable to finish my dessert, but they packed it up for us :-)"

  • "The food at Stiegler's is always homemade, authentic and delicious. Whether you choose to have a simpler dinner in the bar area, or dinner in the dining room with friends, the attentive service and delicious food always make it a wonderful evening."

  • "This place is the real-McCoy when it comes to fine Austrian dining. The strudel and coffee for dessert are an extra-special treat -- so we always leave room for dessert. We love this place and were rather upset when the owner, Peter Stiegler, announced his retirement. Well, he didn't like retirement and re-opened the restaurant. We ALWAYS come back whenever we are in Jackson."

  • "Austrian cuisine, elegant surroundings, attentive staff. Altogether a delightful experience. Many signature dishes are available in 'kleine" portions, so you can save room for dessert. Highly recommended by locals."

  • "We ate here on Saturday night 1/25 and had dinner reservations at 6:15 after a long day of skiing this place was cozy and warm right near the roaring fire. is where we dined. The owner himself, Peter, greeted us as we arrived. A few words of German spoken and we were golden for one of the best dinners in Jackson Hole. I would review ahead of time, the history of the owner, the menu on line, so you know what to expect. Everything was delicious, the only part that could be approved upon is the bread they serve before you dine. The beer, wine and food were first class all the way. I would highly recommend this restaurant to others in the area looking for great German/Austrian food."

  • "We are so sorry we found this on our last night at Teton Village. Food was simply perfect, if they have the chicken dumplings get them. Consume was perfect and the sauce on sweetbreads over the top. Service was as perfect as the food and the atmosphere and decor brought us back to Europe. Highly recommend!"

  • "Busiest week of the year so our family dined early. Service was great. Outstanding "old school" Austrian. Food was outstanding. The owner Peter Steigler checked in on us twice and our youngest song informed him that the Gulashsoup was , "the best soup I have ever had". We liked the escargot so much that we needed to ask for a second order. Weinerschnitzle was kids favorite. Elk St Hubertis was outstanding. Definately a favorite in the valley."

  • "We spent a wonderful evening at Stiegler's on December 21st. A warm and welcoming place with fantastic food and outstanding service in a rustic alpine setting. All four of us had something different, and all four of us were raving about our meals. It brought back memories of past travels in Austria and Switzerland. A bit expensive, and worth every penny. A memorable evening."

  • "This is a very nice and very good restaurant. Good German menu. Good ambience. Very attentive mgr on premise visiting all tables. Pork Wiener schnitzel and pork with pear, both excellent."

  • "You don't need to be celebrating a special occasion to enjoy a wonderful meal but if you are, you will not be disappointed. I might consider changing the order of the modifiers to Continental/Austrian but that would downplay Peter Stiegler's heritage. All six of us in our party enjoyed every appetizer, every salad, every entree and every dessert and we spread out our choices across most of the menu. Of all the places we ate in the Jackson area over the course of a week visit, Stiegler's easily tops the list."

  • "The restaurant is probably better than I rated it, however I went there e with high expectations for a good German type meal as there is not a lot of choices in Jackson. The food was OK but not what I was hoping for, it was overpriced but that’s to be expected in Jackson as everything is overpriced here."
