First time having sushi and I loved it... The waiter suggested my dish based on what I told him and it was on point! Ionno... We're vegetarians and they have a fantastic vegetarian sushi roll selection. It's a fun place with great sushi, romantic, energetic, youthful. Its a fun place with fun employees and fun food. Yes the first floor is loud. Its a BAR! Yes the food may take awhile sometimes. Its FRESH SUSHI and they are serving 200 ppl at a time. If you are chill and open-minded and dont mind a casual professional environment this is the place for you. Have fun people. Luckily, I made reservations because the place was packed! The hostess didn't seem to be too happy to be working. She wasn't rude, but she wasn't friendly either. The server was nice. He checked in with us a few times, but we did have to wait for/flag him to refill water, get more drinks, and the check. It was incredibly busy that night, so I'm sure that played a role. But none of that makes this place amazing - it's the food. The food was outstanding! As a DC resident tired of all the gentrification and displacement of my folk, H Street was mostly a sad reminder of the great joints that used to be. Stick Rice is mostly unassuming without the hipster overkill of most of the spots on the strip. And yes, the tater tots are even better than people say. They are the absolute Truth! The Asian dishes are not terribly authentic but tasty and there are good vegan and gluten free options.
