Before I went here, the only
experience I had in Steveston were the restaurants right on the pier. Granted, those were neat because of the seaside dining, but the food was your typical sub par experience meant for tourists. Whereas, SSH is a place meant for locals as they are priced the same as the gimmicky places but with way better high quality fresh food. The service was also top notch and what you would expect from a five star establishment. You also leave this place actually full!"

Our group enjoyed a variety of
meals and all were good. The seasonings used in the freshly baked bread, vegetables, and sauces were very interesting and well done. We'll definitely go back."

This little place in Steveston
village has been around for many years and after our first trip there this past weekend we can understand why. Ambience is lovely and decor is simple and tastefully complimentary to their menu. Calimari and schnitzel was some of the best we'd ever tasted. Evening chef special was ahi tuna which was prepared with excellence. Only comment would be that their wine menu seemed lacking and could have offered more selections, particularly British Columbia VQA whites. Service was attentive without being lingering. A great little spot !"

Seafood platter taste good as
usual, lamb chop exceptionally good, fish n chip (halibut) way overcook, fresh lingcod overcook too. Make sure you complain right away, otherwise they won't give you credit."

Great food and service. Very
friendly staff. I would definitely go back."

It was a quiet evening so it was
good to be able to hear our conversation during dinner. We were disappointed in our fish dinners this time as we found them slightly dry and very bland. The service was very good, as usual."
Dined on 1/29/2014
Good dining experience. Service
was good. Food could of been better for the price I paid. I ordered their 'creation' dish for the night which was a seared rare tuna steak coated with sesame seeds. The sauce for it was too timid in flavour so the majority of the flavour was the rare tuna & sesame seeds, which is a bit bland. Hopefully their regular menu will be more impressive."

We are regulars at this
establishment, and have never had anything but first class service and food. The location in central Steveston area is perfect for out of town guests, the menu is varied and reasonably priced, and the staff are warm and friendly. Last visit, we observed one of the staff leave the resaurant to assist an elderly gentleman in getting into the car."

Haven't been to Steveston Seafood
House in 20 years and I am glad to say they did not disappoint. My husband had the tuna and the chef cooked it to perfection! The service was fantastic and we will not be waiting another 20 years to go back!"

This restaurant came highly
recommended by a friend and we are very glad we took his advice. Dinner was amazing from the appetizer all the way through to dessert, had it been appropriate I would have licked my plate clean."
Dined on 1/18/2014
Oyster --- excellent, lamb chop
--- excellent, fillet mignon --- overcook, halibut --- overcook plus dry. Dessert --- exceptional. Tiger prawn --- wonderful. Conclusion: only order apertiser and dessert, skip the main course."

I love this restaurant. The food
is always incredibly tasty , presentation is flawless, service is professional with good humor. Of course, we will return. The restaurant has recently been renovated, it has a very warm and cozy feel. Good job!"

Just a great friendly experience
with excellent food."

We returned to SSH after a long
hiatus. We had been disappointed in the food on previous visits, but this time, it was excellent. Along with the updated décor, the menu has been brought up to modern standards. My granddaughter had a vegetarian option, stuffed bell pepper, which was excellent. The Thai seafood bouillabaisse was perfect; spicy but not mouth-searing. The blacked halibut was flavourful and well prepared. The "Garry Point" had an nice medley of seafood with a decent portion of halibut. Unfortunately there was a group with several babies, all of whom took turns fussing. Not the restaurants'' fault, but it would be nice if people were more considerate of others trying to enjoy a fine dining experience."

This is a seafood restaurant and
they really deliver, everything we had was excellent. The seafood was first quality and exquisitely prepared."
Dined on 12/26/2013
The food and service were
outstanding, the waiter was excellent, well timed, helpful and friendly. The Turkey dinner was amazing. We will definitely go back there for the signature dish, Smoked Alaska Black Cod."
Dined on 12/25/2013
Wonderful meal. The Alaska Sea
Bass was exactly as our server described it. Crispy on the outside and like butter on the inside. The rest of our meal was just as great. There was a large, energetic party beside us, but it was Christmas Eve, so that's to be expected. But, even though we had not complained or been bothered in any way, we were offered free dessert because the noise of the party may had disrupted our dinner. An unexpected and unnecessary nicety. Thanks."

There is not one thing I can say
negative in regards to the Seafood House. The staff are by far the friendliest I have ever met and are more than willing to recommend drink pairing with dishes and explain why. The food there is absolutely melt in your mouth delicious and are the best dishes I have ever had. My family has gone there for years and we will continue to frequent there."
Dined on 12/14/2013
It had been many years since we
were last at the Steveston Seafood House but we will definitely be back very soon! Food was excellent - from the Garry Point, to the Blackened Cod, to the Salmon and finally to the Mighty Fraser - all prepared perfectly and delicious! Appetizers were excellent! Solid wine list. And the service was top notch! We are know what we are ordering the next time we go!"

Havent been for years. Renivations
are nuce. Food was superb. Service was excellent. Staff all friendly and welcoming. Will go back again sooner rather than later. Nice touch dropping an after dinner liquer on us when they heard it was a late birthday celebration."
Dined on 12/13/2013
We had a great experience. The
food was excellent. And the service was outstanding, whatever we asked for we got in seconds, from milk for my son to extra straws for my mentally-challenged brother in law, every request was met with a smile and a polite response. I was so impressed to learn that our savvy polite waiter is actually the owner of the place, it shows how much dedication he has to making his restaurant stand out."
Dined on 12/6/2013
The service was absolutely
wonderful and the food was great. There was a group of 6 of us and everyone enjoyed their meals."
Dined on 11/20/2013
This restaurant is advertised as a
"fine dining" restaurant so we thought we would try it for a special occasion. Although the prices are commensurate with a "fine dining" restaurant, the food is not - overly salted and overly spiced with unusual flavours."
Dined on 11/29/2013
Great food, beautifully prepared
and artistically plated."
Dined on 11/26/2013
The SSH is one of those
restaurants that will made you and your special someone feel well, special. Oh the food and staff are really good too."
Dined on 11/15/2013
The waiter we had on our recent
visit was exceptional. It really improves the entire dining experience to have a waiter who knows what he is doing."
Dined on 11/10/2013
Loved the menu which was not pages
and pages but varied enough for everyone, especially loved the presentation of the Devils on Horseback. After debating and pondering our entrees were Seafood Linguine, The Garry Point and wild Salmon: all were perfect but next time we will have to debate and ponder again but then that's what makes the menu so great. The ambience was quiet, "soft" and very friendly. Will definitely return sooner than later."

The four of us had great seafood
dinner and appetizer. The meals were very reasonable and a very good value."
Dined on 10/28/2013
We ate dinner with two friends
from Vancouver Island. Most of us choose from the fall special menu (reasonably priced) and, as usual, we truly enjoyed our evening. We started off with martinis, wine, and non alcoholic drinks and then dove into what we had ordered. The different courses came at a good pace and 3 hours flew by no doubt due to being with friends but also with the measured pace at which our food arrived. The waiter was attentive to our needs even though there was pressure on him since the restaurant was quite crowded for a Sunday evening. All in all, a great evening out. Try Steveston Seafood House. You'll like it."
Dined on 10/28/2013
He more than made up for it with
extra wine and dessert and apologies all over the place. We have been to SSH and like this particular waiter but he was just off his game but at least tried very hard to make up. We would go again in a minute. Eat out a lot and SSH is always dependable. Two at our table had the special all inclusive meal and were very happy. Additionally their crab cakes and seafood chowder are worth going for if you only ordered those items. See you soon. CDC"

Great Food with a nice selection
of entrees, very friendly service. We never felt as if we were being rushed. I will go back again and will also recommend to friends."

We went with friends who had not
been there for many years, and they really enjoyed it, and loved the food. We have always had an excellent meal here."
Dined on 10/23/2013
The ambience, food and service
were excellent providing for a wonderful evening. The thing that places this restaurant team head and shoulders above others was the manner with which they handled a serious medical emergency with one of they guests while at the same time maintained their professionalism in insuring their other guests evening dinning experience was effect as little as possible. Thank you, congratulations, bless those other professional guest that stepped in to help and best wishes to the effected guest. There are many wonderful people out there !!!"

The food was good, our server
David friendly and helpful but not intrusive. We were early but were welcomed like old friends."

The dinner roster included folks
from the UK, Asutrailia, Holland, USA and locals - the meal and services was excellent. Enjoyed by all."

Always have an excellent meal,
well prepared and presented."

Boring is the key descriptor. Not
much creativity going on here. It's like stepping back into a seafood place in the 80s and not in a good way. Lots of dishes that cover up the taste of the fish with sauces, bacon etc. rather than bringing it out. Server was also a throwback, describing half the items on the menu to us as specialties, 'the halibut is good, the salmon is excellent' etc. I had the seafood chowder which was thick and tasteless. We both had the lightly blackened halibut which was overcooked in both cases, a shame since it seemed like a good piece of fish. There are better places to spend your money in Steveston."
Dined on 9/8/2013
This has been our go to restaurant
for years. We like many others but Steveston is special after thirty plus years of enjoying it. We have had many of their dishes but in our retired, conservative (NO - not politically) state, we tend to rely upon the crabcakes, the spicy calamari and the wonderful Schnitzel Richmond, on the menu from the beginning."
Dined on 9/3/2013
We have been going to the
Steveston Seafood House since it opened. There was a hiatus when we didn't attend there but in the last few months we have renewed our acquaintance with the Steveson Seafood House. Memories of past pleasant dining experieces were recalled each time we visited. The restaurant has been remodeled but it still retains an appealing atmosphere. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly and the food is excellent. Something else we enjoy is its nearness to the Fraser River where we can hear the pleasant sound of gulls calling."
Dined on 8/28/2013
I've lived in Richmond for many
years and walked past this restaurant often. Seafood is expensive and so we saved our visit for a special occasion. I noted in my on line reservation that I wanted a little "fanfare" with dessert - this celebration was my daughter's birthday. The dinner was lovely - somewhat expensive - $33 for Alaskan Black Cod. My daughter thought the salmon was a little dry. Service was excellent. There was no "fanfare" with dessert."
