I would put these steaks up against any steaks in town. The flavor is wonderful and the quality is always consistent. As an added bonus, the bread and dipping oil which is served with the meal is delicious.

Why did I wait so long?! It was perfect. The service was prompt and courteous but not intrusive. This is the quietest in Dallas which is SO welcome. And then there was the food. We enjoyed the menu and our selections. I had a filet & grilled shrimp add-on that was the best steak I've had in 5 years, and I've had some good steaks. The shrimp was the best I've ever had anywhere. The sides and appetizers were tasty & very nicely done. So sad there was no room for dessert!
When we left, the lounge was hopping with music & people. I will make a point to get there sooner and not later. I absolutely love the lamb chops and my husband says the crab cakes are the best he has ever eaten. The service is always wonderful and they are accomodating on any request we have made. The bar is really neat -- they have lights placed under the granite counter top that give the bar an outstanding aura. Piano player adds significantly to the atmosphere. Drinks were good. They had a special over the Memorial Day weekend - three course meal for $39. Started off with a lump crab cake appetizer. OMG, that was excellent - good enough to give another seafood outfit a run for their money (think The Galleria area and you'll know who the competition might be). Other half had the lobster tail and I had the prime rib. Both dishes were perfect. On the other hand, the desserts could use some work. The chocolate cake was very dry. Our waiter was attentive yet non-intrusive giving us needed alone time. The food was delicious, my husband ordered the Chilean Bass and I ordered the Chef's Filet. We shared both and we agreed our choices were perfect. The appetizer was a lobster dip and very good. I would recommend this for a special occasion or a couple's evening out. It so squished back there & if you need something and the waiter isn't around, you can't get anyones attention. I love the food here, have never had a bad meal, just hate being put in the corner & forgotten.
All new faces this time around. It seems the server was new & left on his own for a Saturday night service. Forgot drinks. Never took our order till after we were done with our apps. We had an 8:30 reservation but decided to sit at the bar, which we do often. The bartenders are always cordial and take great care of us. Started with the crab and artichoke dip served with toast. It was nice and rich, had good flavor but could use a little more crab. My wife had crab cakes for dinner and they were good, as usual. I'm sure there is some kind of filler but you sure can't see it or taste it. I had the New York strip steak. I ordered it medium rare + and it was cooked perfectly. Had a nice crust on the outside and was seasoned perfectly. It came with a baked potato loaded with toppings. The service was friendly and attentive without standing by your table. I haven't been to Steve Fields in awhile and I was surprised at how good everything was. Steve came to our table twice during dinner to wish me a happy birthday and bring birthday cake. The prime rib was excellent and my wife loved the pecan crusted trout. Both dishes were large and we were stuffed and still took a portion home. The ambiance there is perfect - nice but not stuffy. Not whisper quite where everyone can hear the next table's conversations but you can easily have conversation at your table. Moderately crowded. Good music for dining. Quick and attentive service all night. Dark, attractive, formal-ish setting. White table cloths, black napkins. Table lighting was still good. (I like to be able to see my food). Shrimp cocktail was very fresh. The salads are large, so we split one. The spinach salad was very good.
The filets come with a baked potato, so they don't try to gouge you for a side. Additional sides are available, but we didn't need one. The steaks were tender and tasty, but not outstanding. The creme brulee with fresh berries was attractive, if a little bland. The sugar glaze on top was good, but a bit thick. Coffee was good. We were surprised when the server took care of an item that we ordered for our child, but it wasn't what we were expecting. We merely made a comment that they shouldn't really charge what they did for what the item actually was and they should warn parents before they ordered. When the server brought the bill he had the item taken off.
