Sterlings BistroWest Coast Dining in MichiganWe have been here several times and the food is always fantastic. The menu selections and specials are meals we look forward to trying. Service is always great and friendly. The chef clearly knows what he/she is doing and the meals are plated beautifully! Always look forward to dessert but unfortunately we enjoy the appetizers and main course so much, we never have room for it! Lived in CA and AZ for 28 years and this restaurant achieves the ambience and offers menu selections that make me feel as though I'm in either locale.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSterling Bistro is very accomdatingI had to add 4 more people to my reservation last minute, and was told that it could be up to an additional hour wait. At the same time that I had called in my changes, my grandmother, whom is on oxygen, came into the restaurant and told them that she didn't have enough oxygen to wait that long. The staff scrambled was so understanding and accommodating that they scrambled to get us seated immediately! The first set of tables we had were a bit of a ways away from each other, and even though we told them it was fine, the staff was sure to move our other table to the table right next to us when that group let up!

We requested a nice table, (not by the hostess station or kitchen) and got it. But for the most part its a big open room. Kind of noisy. Food was very good but on the expensive side. Wine list is good. I just wish the world was not so casual. When I dine out and spend over $100.00 on a meal for two, I hope the guys at the next table are not wearing jeans, tennis shoes and baseball caps. ( Your stylishly dressed, cute dates deserved better) The table after that, shorts and flip flops. Would it be too much for you to put on a pair of dockers, socks and a shirt with a collar? We especially loved the goat cheese fondue and the mahi mahi tacos that were on special. They've a standing offer of a free Prime Rib or Catch-of-the-Day dinner on your birthday, with photo ID. On this occasion, we were a group of 5 that included two birthday diners. However, my husband and I have dined at Sterling's numerous times and also taken friends there, and they've enjoyed it, as well.
A few of their specialties: freshly baked bread, cubed, served with an excellent homemade marinara sauce; wildberry salmon - grilled, with a really wonderful berry sauce; house specialty goat cheese & spinach-stuffed olives served with martinis.

My 13-ounce filet (medium rare, of course) was one of the best steaks I have ever had in my 27 years of dining while doing business.
