  • "It is a must eat place, if you are visiting Boston or live here! Service, food and scenary are great."

  • "Food was very good as was service. A little pricey but overall we were happy."

  • "Drinks are hit or miss. Texas Mule was great.. Doli was not even close.. Food was the same.. Chowder was great for anywhere but Boston.. Lobster Roll was the same.. Ahi Tuna Tartare was excellent. Fresh fruit salad was huge, would only consider again if sharing.. Onion rings where nothing special and hard to eat.. Ate inside where the atmosphere was much more formal and the expectation of food didn't follow, if eating outside everything was right on point. Over all a bit pricey but would still recommend when I return it will be for the Ahi Tuna Tartare that's for sure!"

  • "We made a reservation for 4 people through Open Table and 2 of us got there first and checked with the hostess and asked for an outside table. She informed us that we had to wait for the entire party to show up before being seated. When we were all there we went back to check in and was then informed that the outside is on a first come first serve basis and no reservations. Too bad they didn't tell us this at first as we wood have checked in with the outside hostess as there were tables available when we good there but not upon our second check in."

  • "Spent the afternoon on Newbury Street prior to a Red Sox Game. Stopped at Stephanie"s for dinner on the way to the ballpark. Great Service, Nice Menu, Great scenery of bustling Newbury Street while dining outside. Will definetly be back"

  • "The food was fabulous as always. Nice setting on a beautiful summer day. Love the people watching while enjoying a delicious lunch."

  • "They don't take reservations for outside dining. We made a res on opentable, only to show up and be told that we'd have to wait on the list (like the walk-in diners) in order to get outdoor seating. UGH. This should have been clearly stated when I made the res. Service was bad. Waitress disappeared after our order came. At the end of the meal, it took 15 minutes flag her down for the check. Pancakes were meh. Veggie sandwich not tasty. For all the hoops you have to jump through (parking, waiting, etc)...not worth the effort. I will not be returning for brunch."

  • "My wife, nephew, and I were supposed to eat at Stephanie's last week but he was unavailable. She and I went anyway and I had meatloaf - tender and tasty, with exceptional mashed spuds and firm green beans. She had the lobster roll. Both of us took food home and enjoyed the leftovers the next day. Fast forward a week and the three of us made it to Stephanie's. I'm not a lobster fan but she raved about the roll - sooo...we both got the roll. Awesome! Tender lobster, buttered/grilled roll, enough mayo to hold it together and a little lettuce. If lobster was always this tender I'd eat it more often. My nephew had grilled cod in a chowder base. He definitely enjoyed it. All in all, two great meals - good comfort food, well prepared."

  • "Came here for the first time in a few years and was very disappointed with the quality of food. The calamari, pecan salad and quesadilla were sub-par. The cocktails were good - but that is about it. Definitely a good spot to sit outside and drink cocktails - but inside dining is not recommended."

  • "Our reserved table was ready at the appointed time and we were seated promptly. Excellent service, at least up until our area got much busier. Excellent, moderate noise level, at least until our area got much busier, when it was difficult to have a conversation (table of 5). If the weather had cooperated, we would have been sitting outside and probably none of this would have been a problem."

  • "It was small group of us on the outside patio. Food was tasty - service was a little slow at times but nothing major. Staff were friendly, accommodating and knowledgable about the menu. Would definitely return and recommend."

  • "We sat outside on a warm summer evening. Wonderful dinner - chilled champagne - it was great. Service was a bit slow, but it gave us more time to talk."

  • "Seating hostess provided good estimate of wait time for outdoor patio dining, attentive waiter checked on our meal"

  • "Been here for the first time in three years, and boy, the food is still amazing. Got the clam chowder which I personally think is the best I've had, as well as a LARGE portioned lobster roll. wish i could be back there right now!"

  • "I've been to Stephanie's several years ago when the food was excellent. It clearly has become a tourist trap with bad food and poor service. A far cry from its sister restaurant, Stephi's, in the South End which is excellent."
    Dined on 6/29/2014
  • "This was a wonderful dinner, outside on the patio. Service was great and our food was delicious. Great place to spend an afternoon."

  • "The food was very delicious. The price was reasonable. The location is nice too. It was a wonderful experience having our Sunday brunch in Stephanie's."
    Dined on 6/29/2014
  • "For the prices, this place should've been amazing. I had a $20 burger that I only ate half of because it was terrible. I've had better at the 99. And their famous bread pudding dessert was also very disappointing. And I had to yell across the table to talk with my guests- I felt like I was at a club. Not going back."

  • "Service a bit slow. manager gave me the wrong check that was twice as much as my bill, and it took a long time to get the original one."
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "Consistently good food -- specializes in "comfort food.""

  • "It's always a pleasure to eat here. The location is great for business meetings, gatherings, etc. The menu has enough variety to please and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable"

  • "Reserving our dinner through OpenTable, I specifically requested an outside table because it was a beautiful summer night. However, even though there were various tables outside, my friend and I were one of the few people seated inside - it was dark and too air-conditioned. On top of that, the food was extremely expensive considering the portion size, with my pasta being $22 for a few pieces of ravioli. While trying to ask for something the waiter simply walked by without acknowledging us. Even worse, the waiter would give us side glances and make us extremely uncomfortable during our dinner."

  • "Seating outdoors is wonderful in summer. Good apps as well to share with friends. Cannot make outdoor reservations though which would be nice"
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "The quality/price metric for Stephanie's is low. My $14 salad and $30 entrée were lacking any evidence of culinary skills. There are many better options in the Back Bay at this price point."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "I brought my mom here for her birthday, which was very nice. The outside seemed to be more busy than the inside because it was a summer day. I've heard rants and raves about this restaurant from everyone but I will have to say that it didn't exceed my expectations. The food was OKAY, nothing I would recommend. Great atmosphere though."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Really disappointing brunch. Everything was breaded. No iced lattes, no soy milk."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "For people-watching only-and that's only if you're seated outside. Drinks were good, and the wine list was OK. Considering the location and the nearby competition, I'm a little surprised that this place can stay open. The menu is unimaginative, and frankly, all over the place. My dining partner's Cuban sandwich was a small stack of cold cuts, one miniscule, thin slice of cheese, one little pickle slice and some spicy mayo. I would have been embarrassed to serve that at home. My Pulled Chicken Thai Salad was equally dreadful. They used a healthy pile of tasteless rotisserie chicken, threw in some fried wontons, about 4 cilantro leaves & 6 half peanuts, mixed with lettuce and maybe 2 teaspoons dressing of unknown flavor. A tasteless mess."

  • "Good food and service but very bad acoustics. Impossible to have a conversation."
    Dined on 6/19/2014
  • "We had a Father's Day brunch and had made reservations but they only take reservations to sit inside. That was ok because we were meeting people that we hadn't seen in a long time and wanted to talk as the outside was very loud. We all (4) ordered Bloody Mary's and the usual style of Eggs Benedict and none of us liked their recipe. We thought it was overpriced at $18. The Hollandaise sauce indicated it was lemony on the menu but we didn't taste any lemon flavor at all. It was ok but not great."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "We have gone to Stephanies over the last 3 years for this Father's day brunch and the food has substantially worsened. It use to be really good. They seemed to have minimized their menu with very few choices. I would not recommend it any more. Use to love it."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "Patio service could have been better- we were put on wait list and told 15 minutes... We were told the wait was 15 more minutes each time we checked in (which was 4 times)..Took over an hour to be sat outside"
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "Probably our 8th visit and great food and service as always. My husband says you cannot beat the quality of the Stepphie Burger (and he's tried a lot!). Love the relaxed feeling in the bar and the ambience in the restaurant. Only slight criticism was that it was a Sunday evening so relatively busy but not heaving but the main course arrived while we were still polishing off the appetizer so felt like we were being rushed."

  • "We ate on the outdoor patio for its famous Sunday brunch in June. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to our expectations. The patio itself was nice on a beautiful sunny day in Boston. But the server was unattentive and seemed to focus his attention on other tables. The food was fine but not original. You won't find fried chicken with waffles here it's belgian waffles with strawberries, how daring! The problem with ordinary meals is that Stephanie's expects patrons to pay an extraordinary price for it ($18 when it should be $14 or $15) and the same holds true for everything else on their menu. If you want a good brunch experience, take a cab and go to Cambridge where the better restaurants are. Next time, we will do the same!"

  • "We started out with drinks from a unique drink menu. Next came the bread basket with biscuits and bread to die for. Our main meal was delivered in a timely manner. I highly recommend the Salmon. Unfortunately, we were to full to enjoy the dessert menu. Although I'm sure they would have been delicious. Overall, I would definitely recommend Stephanie's."

  • "My friend and I had a lovely lunch outside at Stephanie's on Newbury! We were seated at a table that offered us some privacy which we loved, and it was a beautiful day to sit outside! We split a tuna tartare appetizer and a cob salad. Both items were delicious! The tuna comes with avocado and is wrapped in cucumber! The cob salad also has avocado in addition to romaine, chicken, hard boiled egg, tomato, bacon, and blue cheese! While the food was great, the server was young and extremely inexperienced. She was nice but not competent. She needs more training!"

  • "You know what you're getting here. Nothing super special. The service was good. The food was good. Went here for Mother's Day brunch with my family. The location is great, and it's a Boston staple."

  • "I was very pleasantly surprised. Great menu. Service was great. Definetly a must visit when you are in Back Bay.....warning, it gets busy so book ahead."

  • "Stephanie's continues to be our go-to spot for lunch in the Back Bay of Boston. Nice location. Good food and service. Pleasant staff. Outdoor tables are great for people watching. Sure do wish that reservations could be accepted for at least a portion of the available outdoor seating."

  • "Great food and great service. Really enjoyed my meal there. Ready to go back. "

  • "We walked in at our reservation time and had to wait to be seated. They told two parties of 2 that walked in after us that there would be a wait but there were many tables open on our walk through the restaurant. We were seated at a table for 4 right in an aisle. Wish we had gotten a booth because my seat kept getting bumped by passers by. Our extra silverware and plates were never removed. Even after we stacked them, they remained there til we left. We ordered the roasted chicken and the burger. Both were okay, but nothing I'd come back for. The waitress only came over once after we got our food and I never got the refill I asked for. We felt unimportant because we're a younger couple (it's happened before) and that's not good business."
