I travel and dine all over the country and this is certainly one of the finest dining experiences one may have anywhere, and Dallas' best. Atmosphere pleasant. Only per peave is split plate charge - $7.00. Kind of ridiculous. Next time hubby and I will just share a plate. He and his wife both live in N.Y. now but previously dined at the Mansion when Stephan Pyles was the chef.
So he really had some previous history. Everything from the hostess on was very nice.

The service, food, and atmosphere were all perfect and we enjoyed our experience immensely. So we shared 3 x 3 different courses for $120. Amazing value. Fantastic trout, great pulled pork, delicious snapper. Desserts were great too (with the possible exception of the basil ice cream - that would have well with a tomato based appetizer, but not dessert). And Stephen Pyles was there on Mothers Day, spending a few minutes at each table with all the patrons. She said: "Stephen Pyles is probably the most famous Dallas chef. His style as haute Southwestern fusion. I love his restaurant and it’s definitely a Dallas Institution". Not a bad summary - elegant and understated exterior, stylish interior, pleasant and efficient service and excellent food. Sadly, time constraints meant only a main course and glass of wine - Taco salad for me and a burrito for him sounds ordinary but the content and taste were outstanding. I've been chipping away at my top 10 chef's restaurants in Dallas. Flavor was up there with the best. We had reservations for a late lunch so there was no crowd to deal with and had the full attention of the staff. The environment was very warm and inviting with an open display kitchen located center stage. I always enjoy the activity of an open kitchen. My partner and I both had a fish dish and we were both very happy with our decision. I had their menu offering salmon which I was told is one of their more popular dishes and I completely understand why with awesome complex but light flavors. My partner had the special snapper on shrimp and grits and they were equally as good. Halibut (recommendation from waiter) was dry and uneventful, 22oz. bone-in-ribeye covered in four stories of onion strings (cooked perfectly to medium rare) too much seasoning for USDA Prime meat. Wines list was good and affordable, Pinot from Oregon & France did not break the bank.
