I was disappointed in my initial sandwich order but they allowed me to substitute more oysters. Our server was very good but quite busy. But the restaurant is just too noisy, Yes it was Saturday evening and there was a very loud party at the bar, but I wonder if Stella's can put up some panels to absorb some of the sound or close off half the second floor to create a space for diners who love the food, want some atmosphere, but also want to be able to talk to their friends without shouting. Server was very friendly and attentive -- so we settle in for a leisurely nite. Appetizers were all great: Mussels and calimari were tasty, and the fish tacos were fabulous! Highly recommended. Entrees: Ocho sushi, Jambalaya, and Walleye fish-n-chips were all given high marks by my friends. Lobster pasta was raved about. My entree, the Parmesean Halibut, was simply OK. The outside was flaky and tasty, the centre was off, hard to describe, like charcoal starter almost. Could not eat. Maybe from the grilled asparagus it was sitting on. Garlic potatoes very good. This was in direct contrast to an earlier experience with poorly prepared lobster. The menu is somewhat limited, this is forgivable because there is variety and allows the kitchen to focus the talent.
By far, the best item we had, was the Champagne Mussels, huge portion $5.95 happy hour, normally $13.95, best mussels ever, tender and good sized and the champagne cream sauce is over the top. The spinach brab artichoke dip was delicious, even as it cooled. Diver scallops were pretty good, portion size was about right, the mashed potatoes were awesome.
