When we arrived at Stella's for our June 23rd reservation, for which we received a confirmation the day before, the restaurant was closed. Apparently it closed two weeks earlier. We had to scramble to find another restaurant. What a disappointment.

I got a vm the evening before our reservation canceling b/c their restaurant was closing for the night. No offer to help find another reservation and then b/c they did not update Open Table, I was unable to book another reservation through the system (b/c it appeared as if I was trying to double book). I was left scrambling to make a reservation. Not cool.

We had reservations and a $125 gift card. Planned our weekend around this reservation. Arrived on time to find restaurant had filed bankruptcy and we now had no reservation for dinner in the Quarter. We were not notified and very disappointed that no effort had been made to do so. This was a very bad experience booking thru Open Table. We will never use it again. Now we are being asked how dinner was at a closed restaurant. Unbelievable!!!

We booked our reservation 2 months in advance. The entire trip we planned was to celebrate a birthday and this was to be the birthday dinner. The evening prior to our reservation, that was again confirmed by this website, we walked past the restaurant. To our surprise, there was a piece of paper in their window explaining that they had CLOSED 2 days prior!!!! So we had to book somewhere else last minute that would take us. The birthday dinner was ruined. These people should have honored their reservation or at least given some sort of notice so that people with reservations could have made other arrangements.

This was by far the best meal I had in New Orleans (we were there for a week)! It is a set price and the champagne list was very good. Each course is better than the next and the dessert is ... well there are no words.. a work of art. I had to take pictures bc they were so beautiful! BUT usually I had eaten some before I took the pic bc it smelled and looked so good! This place should be on everyones must do list! For two people with a bottle of champagne the tab was 430 with a nice tip

Can't Say enough about how wonderful the food experience was at Stella!. Two intimate dining rooms with bar area in between. We sat in the room close to the street. Wonderful light in the early evening. Had a drink at the small bar before being seated (we were early). Bartender was the best. Friendly & attentive. On to the food. Choice of two types of prix fixe menus. 7 course chefs choice or 4 course individual choice. We chose the 4 course. Each course was small but amazingly delicious. By end of 4th course, more than enough food to fill us up. Not your typical NOLA fair but don't miss this one. Truly Stellar.

If you're hungry and looking for good food, this isn't the place. Food was so bad, I tapped out after two of four courses. I've never done that and hope I never have to again. The first was bad, second was worse, so I didn't want to see what remained. If you want a place to feel like society because you're paying a lot for highly processed food where presentation trumps taste, maybe you'll like it. Just not my bag.

While there is no doubt the quality of the food is outstanding, the portions are beyond skimpy…skimpier than any precious NYC restaurant for that matter. For 3 people we spent over 500 dollars before tip (one bottle of wine) and stopped on the walk home for a burger. The lobster dish was a $15 supplement and was 1.5 ounces of lobster AT BEST. The beef dish was 4-5 thinly sliced matchbook size pieces of beef total 2 ounces AT BEST. While the service is outstanding and the atmosphere is fine, it is a food experience, not a meal.

This was the most money we ever spent on a meal. We had the 7 coarse with the wine pairing. This ended up being more like 10-12 coarse, with add dishes "from the chef" like a fruit and gin & tonic pairing. The food was fantastic! The staff was fun and very attentive. The deviled egg with caviar and the ox tail being some of my favorites. I would highly recommend this as a "once in a lifetime dinning experience".

Stella! features tasting menus and the skill of the chef and wait staff will be appreciated by serious foodies. Wine pairings are available with the menus, although we decided on a la carte from the extensive wine list. The signature cocktail menu is impressive as well. Although there's no expressed dress code, most folks were wearing their Sunday best. We make an annual pilgrimage to New Orleans just to eat and Stella! will see us again many times.

Don't waste your money! Stella used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but I won't be back. They have changed to a prix-fixe menu exclusively, either 4 or 7 courses. The 4 course is $85/person and the 7 is $125/person. It was my anniversary, so I played along. The staff makes a huge effort and provides great service, but we New Orleanians come for the food. MASSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT! The dishes come beautifully plated, but there are 3 or 4 bites of food that could only be described as flavorless and boring. My wife and I, who are slim people, had to stop on the way home for something to eat! This is my first food review ever, but I felt compelled to warn other diners.

Stella! is not the kind of restaurant I normally frequent. On my recent trip to New Orleans, I wanted to expand my horizons and try something more adventurous. Stella! fit the bill. I opted for the chef's selected 7 course meal, and it was a revelation. Every dish was superbly crafted and presented, and each was an epiphany of taste. Magnificent. The staff was friendly, attentive, professional, never overly-familiar, absolutely spot-on. The atmosphere was perfect: classic, relaxed, authentic. Do yourself a favor and take in Stella! during your next trip to New Orleans. It is superb in every way.

Stella is a great restaurant to try for a special occasion. They have valet right in their driveway, which is great in New Orleans since parking is scarce. The food is a dining experience with a 4 or 7 course meal depending which you order. They even have a full vegetarian option. The food is not my favorite because its all so unique, but is a great must try for a foodie type or just for something new. The coffee that I had with desert was very delicious roast coffee and the chocolates at the end of the meal were a great touch.

While the food was quite good, the service was what set this dining experience apart. This is prix fixe multi course, and some courses were amazing, some less so. What I loved was the little touches: amuse bouche and little after dinner treats, the attentiveness and kindness of the staff. Not pretentious or stuffy...they obviously want you to enjoy your experience. This is probably the most expensive restaurant in New Orleans and while you can get comparable food in the area for a more reasonable price, the service is second to none.

Ate here for my anniversary. I kept seeing Stella! listed in different articles as one of the best restaurants in NOLA. I made a reservation and then several friends acted very excited for me since they loved it. My husband and I each ordered different things on the four course pre fixe menu. We enjoyed every last bite of all 8 plates. Go eat there. It will not disappoint.

We came to Stella on a whim 5 years ago. As soon as we knew we were coming back to New Orleans, a repeat visit was first on our list. We did the 7 course tasting menu both times, and it was fantastic. The service is the best. Our servers were smart, funny, attentive, helpful, and professional. The food is just like nowhere else. It is pricey, but worth every penny for a special occasion or romantic dinner. The plating is gorgeous, and the flavor and texture combinations are like nothing I've ever had. Who knew celery sorbet was so delicious when combined with lemon cream? And black sesame ice cream with frozen strawberry meringue is utterly delicious.

The service was good but the servers young and not what you expect in an upscale New Orleans restaurant where knowledge of the food is usually a given. The food was mediocre at best, the presentation tortured. Ambiance was stilted, not fun or lively. And the cost - very high. Not worth it at all. Don't see how they will stay in business with all the great restaurants in this city.

My husband and I dined at Stella! when we were in New Orleans for the JazzFest. The food was amazing with complex and utterly delicious tastes. The way it works is that guests chose from one of two menus. Each has full courses - appetizers through dessert. The two menus are differentiated by amount of options and the second (more expensive one!) is Chef's choice - just enjoy his/her creativity. So the food was spectacular - interesting pairing of different flavors that just melted in our mouths. Portions are small, but actually perfect. The servers were great. We had fun with them and they were extremely knowledgeable about food and wine. They also seemed to really enjoy their work! Spend hours dining and enjoying.

I am glad I went to Stella but this is not my favorite style of food. You only have a choice between a 4 course meal and a 7 course meal and I don't necessarily want to eat that much or pay that much. The food is highly refined and labor intensive to produce and it is expensive. The food is very flavorful and exquisitely presented. Great attention is paid to every plate and the arrangement of the food on it. Separate silverware is given for each course and the service was excellent and friendly without hovering. I would recommend this restaurant to those who want refined small portions in imaginative combinations and are willing to pay a premium. If you want large portions or rustic comfort food this is not the place to go.
