We had a great meal and a great time at Stella Osteria. The restaurant is a very energic hot spot with lots of beautiful people including the staff. But, with really good food and attentive staff. We celibrated my neice's 15th birthday and she was very excited. She loved the restaurant.

Food was great, with good portion size; had the halibut, and it was cooked to absolute perfection. We were on the outdoor patio in the market area; great for people watching and taking in the atmosphere of outdoor dining; so can't rate the ambiance and noise level of hte restaurant itself. A bit pricey, but so are many other restaurants that aren't nearly as good as this place. Would definitely come back again.

I have been to Stella before and had an excellent experience. However, this time I was not happy with the service. Our server was very friendly and apologetic, but that still did not take away that we waited at least 45 minutes to an hour for our appetizer and another 30-40 minutes for our main course. There was a large table near us and I think we must have had the worst possible timing right behind them. Goog news is that the food once we finally got it was really quite good. I will likely try again, and hope for better luck next time.

Stella Osteria is fantastic! They aim to please and try to accommodate large groups, especially when reservations are made at the last minute. I also appreciate that they allow reservations during the weekend, which few restaurants are inclined to do. The food is great (genuine italian!) and it is perhaps by far, the best pizza I have ever tasted in my life. A little pricy, which doesn't help a student budget... I especially appreciate the bilingual service that was offered during all my dining experiences. Keep up the great work!

Seated promptly. Service for us: slow. Probably had 3-4 different people give us wine, food, but it was a wait. The manager bailed us out, apologizing for delay. Bread, water, wine came quickly. I had the filet mignon, which was great, wife had scallops with risotto, which she loved (except for fennel slaw). Bar was hopping, busy and fun, would have liked to have stayed longer. Will definitely go again.

Our table was in a busy spot, next to the kitchen -- this, despite having made a reservation a few days in advance. We asked to move tables but all that was done was to physically move the table a couple of feet -- not a very satisfactory solution. There were a number of large groups. The atmosphere was therefore quite noisy and not really conducive to quiet conversation. The service was good, as was the food.

Attempted to post private note to restaurant but you limit words. Too bad. You may not like this, and I wanted to give you opportunity to fix. Great food just took 2+ hours to get served! Had an early 5:30 reservation for 4. Food served at 7:45pm. Betting our table's order never got placed based on 4 tables around us who arrived hour after us, were served, ate and left while we still waiting. Mistakes happen ... including neglecting to actually place order OR it got lost somehow. Suggest train staff to be a little more attentive. Food was good and company was great.

We had an excellent family meal on Saturday. We were celebrating our daughter's birthday, and were very pleased with Stella Osteria. The Bruschetta Duo is an excellent starter, and sized for sharing. We can definitely recommend the cioppino (seafood in a tomato broth), the braised short ribs with gnocchi, and the salmon as main courses. The wine list is good, with more than average choices by the glass and 1/2 litre carafe. The interior is a little noisy (many loud conversations going on at nearby tables) but this did not detract from the overall experience.

THe welcomer was very cooperative and worked out a table for us next to the window. We had run short on time and the waiter was excellent in suggesting how we could still enjoy dinner and get out on time. He rushed our meal through the kitchen and made up our bill early so we would still hit our time frames. It was an excellent experience and we would definitely go back again

The roof patio is great for outdoor dining, although it's a little noisy if you want to chat. It might be more appropriate to try the dining room inside if you are with a special someone. I was there once for brunch and came back another time for dinner. Some of the brunch dishes tend to be a little small (French toasted croissant). However, the food is delicious and fresh, I loved my experience!

I went with two friends for dinner and while we had a good time overall I wasn't blown away by the food. The last time I ate at Stella was a few years ago and I remember LOVING everything I tried that night, so I went into this experiencwith fairly high expectations. I ordered the mussels and clams since I'm a HUGE mussel lover but was pretty dissapointed by what I got. One plus is that the portion was humongous for an appetizer, but the "cream and white wine" broth that they were supposed to be served in looked more like old dishwater (and sadly tasted about the same). Still, that being said, our server was amazingly helpful and friendly and the rooftop patio can't be beat! Great setting for any number of occasions - minus the mussels.

  • Uncomfortable Terrace!
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011

Convenient to parking garage across the street. Average food - sea food salad was more like an entre. Spinach dip was thick, tasteless and globby. Waiter was cheery, prompt at first but then we waited too long for our meal. Outside deck is loud, rough (wire mesh table top) and table was unstable, environment outside was not enjoyable and relaxing. Sun was directly overhead and heat was uncomfortable. Had to ask for the awning to be drawn. It was too hot and it was not a hot day. Dubbonet cocktail was "stale" and returned for gin and tonic. I would not return and would not recommend this restaurtant. Suggestion is to improve outside terrace wlith partial shade, green shrubs for privacy and improved tables with smooth level floor.

Dinner out with friends was disappointing. We asked for a quiet table but the music was very loud everywhere in the restaurant and it was difficult to hear one another. The scallops were good but the risotto was undercooked and hard. The eggplant parmigiana was bland. The appetizers, including salad and the parma ham were good. Overall, the meals were disappointing compared to several years ago.

Restaurant was very busy on a Friday night. Had an appetizer of deep fried clams, shrimp, and calamari. Had only one shrimp and one clam, the rest was calamari. was not hot. My wife had a dip (spinach?) with bread. Dip was very good but bread was burnt. Another waiter must have noticed our burnt bread so came to our table with fresh bread without us having to ask. The burnt bread should never have left the kitchen however. Our pizza was not burnt but a little too brown and dry for our tastes. The calabrese sausage on the pizza still had plastic wrap on it. The waiter forgot my drink order so I had to ask another passing waiter. I have been to this restaurant before on a weeknight and had very good food and overall experience.

I made a reservation online a couple days in advance, but was very disappointed when I arrived, as the restaurant did not have our reservation. We requested a table by the window, but all they wanted to give us was a tiny table next to the kitchen (a very busy, high traffic area). When I requested a booth, they said it was reserved. I had to ask another staff member to move us away from the tiny table and we finally got something decent just across from the bar. I have to say, that my initial impression was very disappointing, I felt we were not treated as valued guests. Everything was fine after we finally got seating that was decent.

My husband and I live in the area and have been to Stella on several occasions. The ambiance is great and the food is always excellent. Hence we took my parents to Stella this past Saturday and disappointed to say that although the above two points still stand; the service was poor. We ordered our entire mail at around 8 pm and the entrees arrived well after 9 pm. The drinks we had ordered didn't arrive so we asked on two occasions and finally received them in tow with our entrees. That being said, the server was nice and did provide us with complimentary desserts as well as tea/coffee. At this point, my husband and I may return to the restaurant but certainly not on a weekend evening. Thank you.

Arrived with guests, male server greeted us at door. Told him we have a reservation. He went to computer, walked away, we stood there for about 10 minutes before someone else asked us if we've been helped. Lots of staff looked in our direction but had kept walking without asking us if we've been helped. The male who had originally greeted us was the bartender who was within our view the entire time. Once seated, the service from our server was attentive, professional and friendly. We understand that he was on a training shift. Shameful how we were treated by the bartender.

I was really disappointed with the entree I selected. The salmon was tasteless, the risotto was watery , not creamy and cheesy as you would expect. The vegetables had way too much butter and salt. The waitress did not provide warm friendly service. When asked for 4 spoons for dessert sharing, she replied that she had already brought them, insisting that she had.....brought them to the table instead of just going ahead and providing them to us. On our you out she never thank us and wished us a good evening like many other restaurants do especially when you just dropped over $200 for casual dinning.... very disappointing Will stick to my friendly neighbourhood joint , Frateli's, Kanata
