Stella 34 TrattoriaMacys Gets it All Right at Stella34My family ate lunch here on Mother's Day and were treated to a terrific meal, great service (thank you Anthony) , at a reasonable cost. The gelato deserves a special mention, just like Mom used to make if she was from Florence. The only dilemma is having to choose which flavors to order.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSo... Good. This was my fifth time eating at this restaurant and trying differennt dises each time, the food is absolutely delicious.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't tell Bloomies!Very pleasant lunch. The small plates are wonderful for sharing. The pickled veggies and the meatballs seemed to vanish in an instant. the pasta special with lamb, peas and mint was first rate.
A worthhwile addition to the store and the local dining scene.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMTopsThe menu selections are terrific and the view as the sun sets, looking at the Empire State building is out of this world!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMCulinary ExcellenceHad the pleasure--the absolute pleasure--to have lunch at Stella 34. Our waiter, Daniel (or Danny, as he preferred to be called) was superb! The view of the Empire State Building was enjoyable, the freshness and creativity of the food was wonderful, but Danny made the experience "top shelf." His friendliness, recommendations and eagerness to please was second to none. The homemade pasta was fantastic as was the lamb ragu. Desserts was also worth cheating for. And I appreciated the hostess notifying Danny that we were there to celebrate my sister's birthday. I highly recommend dining at Stella 34. I know we will be returning and calling ahead to make sure that Danny is working that day and that he will be our waiter.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMwhat a great addition to thewhat a great addition to the desert part of town. Stella should become a destination.
It's great!!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for dinner. And lovedWe went for dinner. And loved it. Food was excellent, as was our server. Friendly and helpful without trying to be our new best friend. Loved the pizza and pasta and salad and of course the dessert. A winning addition to the dining scene.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWas thrilled with our experience! Was thrilled with our experience! clients were very impressed and comfortable. End with the gelato!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat upscale Restaurant in Macy's!This restaurant is a wonderful addition to Macy's, as it is upscale. The view of Empire State Building is great for tourist. Food and Service are top notch.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA great original Italian import,A great original Italian import, excellent every time. Moderate prices, great view of Empire State bldg.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you can't go to Italy, go to thiThe restaurant is hidden on the 6th floor behind linens in Macy's. But is was crowded and energetic when we walked in. You walk by a case of fresh gelatto, so you automatically know what you are having for dessert. There are other items in the case such as fresh mozzarello with tomatoes that they serve in the lounge area but they are not on the menu. They did serve it to us for an upgraded price. The Gavi Gavi wine selection was a good suggestion by the waiter. The wait staff is young and very nice and knowledgeable. The pizza, pasta and salads were all fresh and perfectly seasoned. Great way to spend lunch or dinner when in NYC on a shopping trip. Oh and the gelatto was great!!!!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAll is well that ends well!I arrived early, but my friend kept me waiting. Then she was very picky about her selections. She said that she really wanted to just pickup a salad from the take out shop she saw on the way in!
Then we ended up ordering four dishes and dessert! My treat. The spot where we were seated was right by the window, as I had requested. We had the same waitress as I did the last time I came for lunch with my daughter! Lauren is her name, and she is very sweet and a great server! Now i feel like I have a friend at Stella 34!
The only problem I had was that the mussels were too heavily soaked in chili, which my friend had asked to do without. But we kept
them anyhow, and had then packed so she could bring them home to her husband!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great view!Wonderful view of Empire State Building. Food was amazing!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA great restaurant in a strangeA great restaurant in a strange place - excellent food, especially pizzas and small dishes. Odd to find on the 6th floor of Macey's; busy Friday night after work crowd, very mixed set of folks, excellent, friendly, knowledgeable service4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAn oasis in the MSG desertThis is such a treat--a great, chic dining spot in the dead zone of Madison Square Garden.
Foot is sophisticated and delicious, vibe is bright, chipper Italian Trattoria.
Come for the fabulous Venetian gelato, oven fired pizza or octopus carpaccio, branzino or veal meatballs. Salads are divine too.
And if you want to forget you are in Macy's,just enter at the private entrance on 35th and Broadway. But it's worth a stop at the Gucci and Vuitton multi-level boutiques...this is NOT your mother's Macy's!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMCame here to celebrate a co-worker'Came here to celebrate a co-worker's birthday. The rotisserie chicken was quite good, juicy and flavorful. My other co-worker ordered the squid ink pasta and really enjoyed it. I ordered the scallops and it was cooked perfectly! Proportions were great for lunch and we finished it off with gelati. Our server made it sound as if it was the best gelato ever since Stella was the only other place in the world to serve it. Tried the riso flavor and the flavor itself reminded me of rice pudding, which fortunately for me, I liked! Would come again to try different items on the menu.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely, uncrowded lunch spotBeautiful, beautiful, beautiful restaurant. The decor is absolutely beautiful and the views are wonderful. Sun-drenched and relaxing lunch spot. Menu had some nice options and the food was tasty. For the portions and rustic nature of the food, prices are high.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBig surprise in a food dead zoneThe space is beautiful, the pizzas are the best I've had in the US, service is knowledgeable and efficient and the crowd is pleasant. Wine selection is well chosen and they give a good pour. Gelato is heavenly.
Not crowded for dinner.
At Macy's - who would have thought it?4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMwhat a find and a big boostwhat a find and a big boost for macys. I will be making this a favorite.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMNeeded an Italian restaurantNeeded an Italian restaurant that would be good for foodies, have the NYC feel and satisfy the group of teens up for my daughter's 16th. This restaurant satisfied all needs. Good food, attentive waiter sleek decor and great view of the Empire State building.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMItaly with a great NYC view!We came here for lunch and loved it so much we came back the next day for dinner. The restaurant just opened a few weeks ago in Macy's department store at Herald Square. It is on the sixth floor with wonderful views of the Empire State Building through the floor to ceiling windows. The view is great but the food and service is even better. Between the two visits we had the sea bass, linguine with clams, the chitarra alla pomodoro, a ceasar salad and a few deserts. All were wonderful and reasonably priced. And the service provided by Daniel was outstanding. We felt like we were in Italy, with a view of the Empire State Building!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNew Restaurant at Macy'sVery good Italian food at Macy's - will wonders never cease! Was looking for a restaurant near Macys, and stumbled on this hidden restaurant IN Macys. It's on the 6th floor at the 6th Avenue wall -- and there are even big window with a lovely view of Herald Square. The ambiance is modern and casual though sophisticated. The food is very good higher-end Italian -- reasonably authentic -- and will be a disappointment for children or others hoping for "regular" Italian red sauces. They have no kids menu, though they are willing to modify their pizzas into the plain Margarita variety. There is also a cafe at one end of the restaurant serving gelato, coffee and other snacks.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMwe gave this a try over thewe gave this a try over the weekend for lunch. everyone in our group ordered the pizza and was quite pleased. We were a little pressed for time and the waiter recommended the pizza and pasta as the items which were the most reliably fast for service. the space is absolutely spectacular with a terrific view. it's a but of an oasis within the madness that is Macy's.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFriendly, knowledgeable staff.Friendly, knowledgeable staff. We (2 of us) ordered 6 appetizers. First we were served the PATATE, CAPONATA, & VERDURE. Then we were served the FUNGHI, LE COZZE, & POLIPETTO. Everything was beyond delicious. We had a MARGHERITA pizza, Pinot Noir, 2 espressos & creamy wonderful gelati from VIVOLI OF FLORENCE, which we were familiar with having visited Vivoli when we were in Florence. STRACCIATELLA & NOCCIOLA are 2 of our favorites. Overall a really enjoyable experience.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, I had an outstandingOverall, I had an outstanding experience lunching with a friend. The food (antipasto salad, lasagna, and dessert) was delicious, fresh, and layered with flavors. The gelato, particularly the luscious pear gelato bursting with the rich taste of fruit, was incredible. The white-washed, flowing and open-spaced ambiance was beautiful. The large windows overlooking Broadway with sky views are a special plus for this restaurant. The wait staff was friendly, attentive, helpful, and informative. I would definitely visit the restaurant again.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Venue!!I had a great experience at Stella 34 last week. We went to celebrate my friends Bday and we all really enjoyed the food and the limoncello mojitos which were excellent. The view and decor are fantastic. Our waitress was so sweet she gave the bday girl a complimentary bday gelato mini treat. I would definitely recommend it and will come back soon!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFashionable CuisineFantastic appetizers, great wine and good service.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMHerald Square/Penn Station Are FindHad an early lunch and enjoyed it very much. The Herald Square/Penn Station area is a real culinary desert, so this is a terrific idea. The room is spacious and bright and it is possible to have a quiet conversation.
Servers were friendly and prompt and made our meal more enjoyable.
The food is fine, although the menu is very short and selections not very extensive.
Portion size, considering price, is quite small, but the quality is definitely high. The Vivoli gelato is the real thing and just wonderful.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent in all respectsExcellent in all respects but menu is limitedNeeds to have some fish on the menuTOTALLY Unacceptable that they have no Whole Wheat Pasta. Lame excuse was that they make their own pasta.Need to offer Whole Wheat PizzaThis is the 21st Century3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMI was very impressed withI was very impressed with this new restaurant on the 6th Floor in Macy's, in what use to be a stock room. Beautifully decorated, bright and a very airy feeling. The salad I had was quite good and the service was great. We were promptly seated, the wine list was about 100 bottles long, all Italian, and the food was to die for. For appetizers we had the roasted mushrooms, the rice balls, and the octopus. All were excellent, the stuff that came out of the wood ovens had a wonderful smokey flavor to them. Dinner was a sausage and broccoli rabe pizza and a roast eggplant with sauce and cheese from the ovens. Both were to die for. Every bight brought us back to a trattoria in Tuscany. The Vivoli after the meal was also wonderful, though they don't have anywhere near as many flavors as they do in Florence, at least not yet.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food. Great service.Outstanding food. Great service. Fabulous ambiance.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAll I can say is from theAll I can say is from the food to the service it was SPECTACULAR! The staff was most attentive, the restaurant with it's open kitchen was fun and the food was outstanding. Started lunch with their Italian Chicken Soup - flavored to perfection! Three of us shared a delicious Caesar salad - crisp croutons, excellent parmigiano cheese and white anchovies. Split a pizza among three of us and everyone loved it's crispy crust and delicious tomato and basil aroma. Finished off with their chocolate gelato - delighted that a little bit of Florence, Italy is now on 34th Street. Can't wait to go back.....3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant and a funGreat restaurant and a fun spot to have in Macy's!! The space is very pretty and was brightly lit for lunch service. We had a sit in front of the window, showcasing iron scrollwork on the balcony, with a view of shopper outside in Herald Sq. The service was excellent and the food (we had a margherita pizza, calamari and potatoes) was pretty good. Overall, a nice spot for having lunch with a friend.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
