A word from Stella 34 Trattoria
With sixth-floor views of the Empire State building and three wood-burning ovens, Stella 34 Trattoria is a modern trattoria and the dining star of Macy’s flagship store.

Executive Chef Jarett Appell offers Neapolitan pizza from wood-burning ovens with fior di latte mozzarella, Caputo flour imported from Naples, San Marzano tomatoes from the foothills of Mt. Vesuvius and water meticulously sourced from local wells to match the pH and mineral balance of the natural spring water in Naples. The menu showcases al forno entrées, house-made pasta, “piccoli piatti” – signature antipasti designed for sharing - and an all-Italian wine list of more than 100 bottles.

Open 7 days a week for lunch, lounge & dinner. Direct access from the street is available via dedicated express elevators at Macy’s Broadway & 35th Street entrance.

A very interesting place to go - on the 6th floor of Macy's. The interior is well done with lots of light and air. The food is good but not otherwise surprising. The service is amiable but, in my case, was quite slow. If in need of lunch near Macy's it worth considering.

The wine list was excellent. The Zucca salad was outstanding and the pate was the best we have had. Arrancini almost like Moms.Recommend highly! We shared a truffle pizza that was to die for and topped it off with a dessert that will keep you smiling. Our server was top notch. His name is Carlos.

I have eaten here twice since it has opened. It is a great little find on Macy's 6th floor and a nice central location for meeting friends in mid-town. It has a nice variety of modern Italian dishes and pizzas. I've had the cauliflower pizza on both occasions, an interesting mix of ingredients that comes together perfectly, delicious. Also tried the mushroom linguini (sharing dishes) and although it was tasty enough, I felt the $21 lunch portion was small and the mushrooms (my favorite) were very scarce. I did pick up a small container of Verdure to go, a delicious vegetable blend that I had tried and enjoyed on my previous trip. Lunch reservations are accepted, it does get quite busy.

Service was afficient and courteous. I would have preferred my pizza margarita had more tomat sauce and less crust, but I enjoyed it none the less. Menu was varied with many interesting items to try, and prices were competitive. I have always enjoyed the Food Court in the Cellar, but going to Stella is now a treat.

We went here for my boyfriend's birthday surprise dinner. Though a little pricey, the food was delicious! Our server was also very friendly, helpful, and super nice! Of course we were skeptical of a restaurant atop Macy's, but the recommendation was from a trusted source. We were quite pleased with our dinner. The pasta was fresh and delicious, as were our small plates. My lemon dessert was heavenly! Extra points to the waitress who asked if we were going to the concert at the Garden and then timed our meal perfectly.

In a neighborhood where most business lunch options are egregiously expensive and loaded with heavy menu options, Stella 34 is a gem. The menu has a lot of different options on cuisine as well as plate sizes and is very well-priced overall. More importantly, the food is wonderful and the menu is full of healthy options and appears to change with the seasons.

Spacious high ceilings - there is a great view of Herald Square and the Empire State Building. The other great views include the italian gestures wall sculpture and the open kitchen, this allows you to see exactly how organised and in sync everyone is from calling orders, to cooking, and delivering items to your table. The results are clear - great tasting food that is done perfectly. The Di Verdura salad was not overdressed and the Paccheri Napolitana was perfectly cooked, pasta al dente and the perfect amount of sauce to coat but not drown. Service was attentive and not overbearing, will be back again on next trip.

By finding this superb restaurant in an unlikely place...upstairs in Macy's. Because it's a great restaurant with freshly prepared, highly inventive Italian cuisine, much of which is the best in the city if not the best outside of Italy. The service is outstanding as are the views of the Empire State Building. The Patina Group has the right touch, and Stella 34 is among their best.

Who knew that there was a classy restaurant in Macy's department store. Friends recommended it and we decided to go before seeing Billy Joel at the Garden. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked off the elevator to a sea of white. The place was really beautiful and very inviting. We were ushered to our table immediately upon arrival. The caricatures on the walls were reminiscent of The Palm restaurant and we're pleasing to look at. The service was prompt and very pleasant. The food was esthetically beautiful and delicious! Portion size was perfect and presentation was great! We would highly recommend this restaurant to friends and look forward to dining here again.

This culinary gem on the 6th floor of Macy's Herald Square is terrific! With ingredients imported from Italy, the dishes served on the menu put this restaurant on the same plane as some of the finest Italian restaurants in the city (if not the country). And leave room after dinner for the Florence-imported gelati... Doesn't get any better than that!

This is my third time here and I haven't been disappointed yet. Each time I've had something different and everything was quite good. The décor is very smart, chic. The noise level can be annoying at time, this time it wasn't so bad; however the last time was a littler earlier right in the middle of lunch time and it was very energetic, to the point that I really couldn't have a conversation with my friends. But after shopping it's a wonderful place to sit down, have a glass of wine and relax.

Since there is almost nothing decent around Madison Sq Garden, this was a find. The drawback is that it's in Macy's. However, the service and food are both good and there is a very pleasant almost wrap around view of the empire state building. The restaurant is very light and airy and moderately quiet so it's a delight for an early dinner. Food is quite decent but not exceptional. I'd definitely return.

This was my 6th visit and Stella 34 never disappoints this Italian American food purist. Great authentic food with a lighter touch & fresh ingredients in a casual but elegant setting. Nice, friendly & informed wait staff who never condescend or push you into a choice but know the menu well. Generous, but not ridiculously oversized portions: the wine by the glass comes in a carafe that gives you a second glass. You can pay more, but you can't find a better experience in NYC. Way to go Macy's! I'll be back for visit #7!

We met at Stella prior to going to the theatre. The Stella team was meeting to set specials and prepare for dinner. What a process this is for you! When the group broke, another meeting completed the process. This is some serious commitment to food/guests. My guests were in NY from Halifax and Quebec City. We were most impressed with our meal, service and atmosphere. Most pleasant. Our wine was delicious as one does not see an Italian "zen" often in the US....typically they are Californian. When I made the reservation for Stella 34, I wanted something closed to MSG since we were seeing a show. I didn't realize the restaurant was in the Macy's department store on the 6th floor. It was a very nice find and a great place to have dinner before an event at the Garden. The salads and pizzas were made very well and the service was quick and attentive. The only word of caution is that if you find you have extra time before the show starts, you tend to start shopping through all of the 8 floors in the store. My wife stayed an entire hour on the second floor with 60,000 sq feet of shoes.

Stella's is still the best kept secret of the new renovations at Macy's. On the 6th floor with a stunning view of Empire State, everything about Stella's is top notch - ambiance, view, service, with the best part being the food. You can't rely ask for more. If you haven't tried it yet, go! The veal meatball appetizer is to die for. The Napoli and Die Vedura salads are awesome. The pizzas make a great meal or shared appetizer. The pastas are perfect.
