Who knew that there was a classy restaurant in Macy's department store. Friends recommended it and we decided to go before seeing Billy Joel at the Garden. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked off the elevator to a sea of white. The place was really beautiful and very inviting. We were ushered to our table immediately upon arrival. The caricatures on the walls were reminiscent of The Palm restaurant and we're pleasing to look at. The service was prompt and very pleasant. The food was esthetically beautiful and delicious! Portion size was perfect and presentation was great! We would highly recommend this restaurant to friends and look forward to dining here again.

This culinary gem on the 6th floor of Macy's Herald Square is terrific! With ingredients imported from Italy, the dishes served on the menu put this restaurant on the same plane as some of the finest Italian restaurants in the city (if not the country). And leave room after dinner for the Florence-imported gelati... Doesn't get any better than that!

This is my third time here and I haven't been disappointed yet. Each time I've had something different and everything was quite good. The décor is very smart, chic. The noise level can be annoying at time, this time it wasn't so bad; however the last time was a littler earlier right in the middle of lunch time and it was very energetic, to the point that I really couldn't have a conversation with my friends. But after shopping it's a wonderful place to sit down, have a glass of wine and relax.

Since there is almost nothing decent around Madison Sq Garden, this was a find. The drawback is that it's in Macy's. However, the service and food are both good and there is a very pleasant almost wrap around view of the empire state building. The restaurant is very light and airy and moderately quiet so it's a delight for an early dinner. Food is quite decent but not exceptional. I'd definitely return.

  • Visit #6 was great!

This was my 6th visit and Stella 34 never disappoints this Italian American food purist. Great authentic food with a lighter touch & fresh ingredients in a casual but elegant setting. Nice, friendly & informed wait staff who never condescend or push you into a choice but know the menu well. Generous, but not ridiculously oversized portions: the wine by the glass comes in a carafe that gives you a second glass. You can pay more, but you can't find a better experience in NYC. Way to go Macy's! I'll be back for visit #7!

We met at Stella prior to going to the theatre. The Stella team was meeting to set specials and prepare for dinner. What a process this is for you! When the group broke, another meeting completed the process. This is some serious commitment to food/guests. My guests were in NY from Halifax and Quebec City. We were most impressed with our meal, service and atmosphere. Most pleasant. Our wine was delicious as one does not see an Italian "zen" often in the US....typically they are Californian. Great experience and I would entertain there again.

Picked this spot for a pre MSG concert with wife and friends. Had heard good reviews from various sources. We were pleased with quality of food. Shared 2 excellent salads, fresh & tasty, nice assortment of ingredients. Branzino very good, eggplant nice portion and tasty, pasta with meat ragu perfectly prepared. Nice pour of wine (Gavi di Gavi....liked). Don't miss the gelato. Very creamy...........

When I made the reservation for Stella 34, I wanted something closed to MSG since we were seeing a show. I didn't realize the restaurant was in the Macy's department store on the 6th floor. It was a very nice find and a great place to have dinner before an event at the Garden. The salads and pizzas were made very well and the service was quick and attentive. The only word of caution is that if you find you have extra time before the show starts, you tend to start shopping through all of the 8 floors in the store. My wife stayed an entire hour on the second floor with 60,000 sq feet of shoes.

Food was wonderful, servers friendly, view was great. Someone at our hotel recommended the restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised by the experience. Great restaurant, only complaint is that I wish our server (who was wonderful when she was with us) was not very attentive or prompt to reply to requests - like refilling our water glasses. Other than that, great experience.

Stella's is still the best kept secret of the new renovations at Macy's. On the 6th floor with a stunning view of Empire State, everything about Stella's is top notch - ambiance, view, service, with the best part being the food. You can't rely ask for more. If you haven't tried it yet, go! The veal meatball appetizer is to die for. The Napoli and Die Vedura salads are awesome. The pizzas make a great meal or shared appetizer. The pastas are perfect. And I am a sucker for the affogato as a desert - espresso poured over vanilla gelato. I highly recommend Stella's!!!

Situated on the 8th floor in Macy*s Herald Square, Stella 34 Trattoria is the perfect setting for an exquisite ladies night out or a romantic date. With the unique taste if its delectable dishes, this restaurant exceeded my expectations and left me more than satisfied. The Penn Station/Herald Square area has always been, for me, an incredibly depressing place to go out to eat. I've enjoyed the occasional Korean restaurant, and I don't mind pubs, but none of them has seemed suitable for a nice lunch or dinner. Stella 34 fits the bill. It's elegant yet casual. You could have a salad or sandwich, or dine more elaborately. (My salad -- the Verdure -- was outstanding.) It's open, elegant, airy, with a great menu. Though located inside Macy's, it was quite separate from the shopping areas, unlike some department store restaurants. I plan to go back whenever I need to dine out in this part of Manhattan.

A really nice place to eat if you're shopping at Macy's or if your meeting up with people near MSG or Penn Station. The food is very good. It's a high end Italian restaurant and prices are not cheap but there are less menu expensive options, like delicious Pizzas for about $18. Really nice appetizers and salads. Presentation and quality of the food is top notch. Nice wine selection and they offered us a taste of a few wine options before we ordered. Our waitress was really attentive and very sweet. If you enter Macys at the 35th and Broadway entrance, there is an elevator right there that brings you right up to the restaurant (6th floor). Sometimes Its a stuggle to find restaurants near Penn Station but I'll be back to this place

Must be the best lunch spot in the area. A little noisy (though maybe a better positioned table might have helped us) but very, very good food and service, great light and air. Food is presented well, too. Surprising to find it next to the bedding department at Macy's but who cares? In fact, that's an asset because they get only diners who really want to be there. We were a bit rushed ourselves the day we went, but I can easily see having a relatively leisurely meal there at the right table--and there are lots of them in a large, diverse space.
