When I made the reservation I mentioned that it was our 26th anniversary. I guess I expected to have our anniversary remembered, mentioned, or recognized. We have been other places where there were flowers on the table, or a special momentous glass, or a special dessert. There was nothing like this at Steinhilber's. The food was very good (except for the steak from the surf and turf crochettes - it was tasteless and overcooked. A little pricey but great for a special occasion. View near the water-side windows is lovely. They are tucked away in a nice neighborhood. They are open from 5pm - 10pm and the attire is business casual to dressy.
Tip: Make your reservations through the online service. We called and left a message to make a reservation for Monday evening but they didn't call back so we made reservations online and went Monday evening. Then they called the following day, Tuesday, and left us a message telling us they put us down for a reservation on Tuesday evening. Not sure what happened, we had already been there Monday. Old style family restaurant which has been a staple in the area for +50 years. The two main courses (pan fired flounder and the house speciality fired shrimp) excellent. The appetizers (crab cakes, she crab soup and oyster stew) are also recommend choices by our table. Only one had room for desert and the tapioca parfait was chosen and enjoyed.

The succotash with the rock fish was excellent but the twice baked potato tasted like something you would by in the frozen section to microwave. The shrimp were outstanding, as always. We arrived a bit early from the North side and were promptly seated, which was delightful. There were a few disappointments. The She-Crab-Soup sounded so good, half of our group ordered it to get started. It was full of shells and had very little crabmeat. The salads were good, but offered very few choices of dressing, ranch being the groups overall favorite, and one we thought would be a staple choice. We managed. Most of us ordered the shrimp and began to regain our love for where we selected to eat, as it was fabulous! We were all greeted nicely, seated fast, waiter Johnathon was fabulous!!! One of the best waiters I have ever had! Started out with their famous crab balls and fantail shrimp - wonderful! The wild Salmon, lamb chops and Prime Rib was perfect! The Chef and kitchen did a great job. Everything was cooked, presented and tasted wonderful, their creme spinach is always very tasty. We finished off with a great cup of coffee and tried their carrot cake and the Tapioca/lemon curd/ice cream parfait. The parfait was actually nicely lite and Tasted excellent. The wait staff are knowledgeable, genuinely eager to please and very personable. The food is amazing. If you haven't heard already.. you have to try the fantail shrimp. They're amazing. All of the seafood is incredible and the prime rib is probably the best I've personally ever had. Just a note on that.. choose the 10 ounce serving when you order. Unless you're a giant or freakishly hungry you'll probably still take home a good portion that you couldn't eat.
