We hadn't been to this LA Farm location in many years. We had been there together before. We liked the menu selections; particularly trying to decide between the small plates & their regular entrees. I really liked their wine list selections as they had a particular wine that I like. The server was extremely attentive and we liked the "outside" room we sat in. A much nicer upscale feel than the other LA Farm restaurants in LA & BH. This was the perfect spot. Right next to the Recording Academy (only in LA, right?). The menu had the effect I had hoped for and impressed even a food snob from NY. Everything was exquisite. Justin, our waiter, was there when we needed him but did not hover - made great recommendations.
I have been there before and had the multi-course meal with wine pairings. This group opted for traditional off-the-menu ordering. The wine pairings Stefan chose for the multi-course meal had been perfect ... and better than the selections one of our guests chose last night. His European sensibility drives the largely Continental food choices and his love of America drives the all-American Wine List, which is fairly priced and carefully selected. Having been there many times, it has become more than just a "special occasion place". It is one of the best restaurants in our neighborhood, the Westside of LA and Santa Monica. The menu is diverse - I had the Poached Egg Salad and the Cream of Tomato soup. Both were delicious. The service was decent. Our waiter was knowledgeable, pleasant and funny, but not intrusive. We all had an appetizer, the winner being the amazing salmon on a birch plank. One of the best salmon dishes I have had outside my (and Stefan's...) native Finland. All of the four main courses were delicious; the lamb, the duck breast, the whole branzino and the halibut. We enjoyed a dry pink champagne which the waiter had recommended: perfect choice for a warm night. Even though I generally do not enjoy desserts, the chocolate cake with pistachio ice cream that we shared, was just right: not too big, not too sweet. The flight of martinis was delicious and ignited the right spot - relax and get ready for the set of chef selected dishes with sommelier selected wines - one tasting with each dish. Each dish was succulent. The lovely salmon melted in your mouth. Oh! and t was beautiful. Each dish was a bit of an artwork. I don't have time to review it all. The restaurant has a great bar area and also the dining area has fire pits in the corners with couches. Great for hanging out with friends and a night cap or coffee. I have been a few times and have always had great service. ANOTHER TABLE ORDERED SPECIAL DESSERT LOLLIPOPS, WHICH LOOKED GREAT- MAYBE SOMETHING FOR NEXT TIME.

Their turkey burger sliders were awesome. The indoor patio with the fire pits is lovely and romantic. Worth it to check out this out of the way location for the ambiance and good food.
