Diner Reviews
  • "We went to Stafan's based on several reviews. All the food we had was different from the usual fare and all was very well prepared. Service was relaxed, but not slow, a good balance of leaving us alone and making sure all needs were met. The server should not have asked if our main courses were good, the sole off note. I would recommend this to anyone who is satisfied with moderate plates of high quality food. They are not easy to find. Once you come into the complex, not obvious. Luckily the valet service flagged us down and pointed us in the right direction. I could not tell if there was a free parking area, but that night I was quite happy to have someone take care of my rental car and provide assistance finding the restaurant."

  • "This was our third time at Stefan's. The food is wonderful and the space is great. We've never had a complaint before. Service was fairly slow especially considering that the restaurant wasn't full. We hadn't been there in a almost a year and while the food is very good we were a little disappointed that the menu hadn't really changed in that time."

  • "As usual, we had a terrific meal at this restaurant. They got a little busy as the evening progressed but our waiter comped us our deserts which took too long to arrive. I had the whitefish which was great and wife and grandson had the mushroom ravioli with a cream sauce; a great dish."

  • "Unique dishes/flavor combinations, many available in appetizer or small plates for foodies. Love the "patio" (indoors, but outdoor feel), with fire pits, etc. Menu changes frequently, but we had: Terrific pork belly with a "sauerkraut-type" condiment (we had as appetizer, available as main) Beet and citrus salad (wonderful) Lamb with a side of the most amazing grits with truffle oil Service professional, very pleasant, helpful and excellent overal, except for the occassional time that they seem to disappear."

  • "Small portions but not balanced by outstanding flavor. They need to go one way or the other"

  • "Plenty of small plates, riffs on comfort food...but it's all like trickle down tech from the space program applied to everyday items... Your piece of fish is cooked perfectly, your salad is dressed perfectly, the pork belly has it's flavor concentrated to a degree unattainable by mere mortals. But it's all very unpretentious. Try it when they're having one of their fixed price tasting menus and you'll have some reasonably priced fun."

  • "Terrific food and wonderful waiter. I had a business lunch here and the place was perfect for it."

  • "Food was great. Serive was poor, and it wasn't like they were busy. There was only about 6 tables full in the restaurant. We ordered the 7 course tasting menu and wine pairing. Most times the wine was presented after the food. No discussion about the food or wine. And they didn't even bring the Lamb chop wine."

  • "Food was ok- nothing special. Service was ok- nothing special. Atmosphere was dead... Seems like a lunch crowd type place only but at these prices, spend your lunch money elsewhere"

  • "Upon arriving very early for our reservation, we were warmly welcomed and seated immediately. Service was smooth, and the food was nothing short of excellent -- especially those scallops! We caught Chef Stefan moving from table to table meeting with the diners as well -- quite a sociable man! The entire evening was a wonderful dining experience, and we'll eagerly be looking forward to our next visit."

  • "We celebrated a Birthday with a party of 8. I would recommend more round tables. Long wide tables are hard for passing food and easy conversations. Overall great dining."

  • "We have lived right up the street from this place for years, knew it was somewhere close by, but was pleasantly surprised when my girlfriend and I showed up and found it tucked away in a little nook - I've passed by plenty of times but never noticed it. The 'hideaway' aspect plus the intimate interior made for a very appealing ambiance. From the moment we showed up, everyone was very helpful, attentive, and friendly. Our server gave us awesome recommendations and was a pleasure to work with. And the food was spectacular - we shared a few small plates, appetizers, and had a main + dessert. Everything was truly delicious. Will definitely be going back, will definitely recommend to others."

  • "We went to Stephan's for Valentine's Day dinner. As usual, the service and food were over the top outstanding. There was no special menu, but everything we ordered was quite spectacular. We had potaoe leek soup with smoked samon in it. Mouth watering and satisfying. We had gravalox, cheery and refreshing. The grilled artichoke with aoli was perfect. We had the western halibut. This dish was perhaps the best fish entree I have every had. Our server said that she came into the restaurant as a customer three weeks ago, had this dish, and applied for a job. She deserves the job! We deserved the dish. I must mention that for desert we had apple beignets. What a surprise treat! If you have not tried Stephan's you are missing out."

  • "Flavorful and adventurous lunch food choices along with standard salads, sandwiches etc. Location seems to favor a business clientele. We were one of few couples there but were happy to have chosen this restaurant with it's pleasant decor and layout"

  • "This was my second visit to Stefan's at LA Farm, and it was equally as good. I arrived early for my reservation, and was seating with eagerness and no hesitation whatsoever. My server, Kathy, was friendly, informed, patient and enthusiastic about the offerings at the restaurant. I settled on the five-course tasting menu with paired wines. While I might have a quibble here and there about the food preparation and the wine pairing, the food and wine were delicious, and I was happy when I left the restaurant. What is better than good food, good wine, exceptional service and a relaxed environment? Kudos to Stefan and his team! Thanks for a wonderful evening."

  • "Very good overall, but the best part was the food. Every dish except the escargot (which needed some garlic or other spice - it came too plain tasting) was excellent. The best was the cabbage side to the pork belly, and while I very much liked the pork belly, I would go back just for the cabbage, and I do not like cabbage that much. The potato soup with salmon is a must. Service was excellent, there when you wanted it and gone when you did not. Very romantic, next time I need to take someone other than my daughter! But she liked it so much she wants to have her next birthday party there. The only improvement I can see is the wine list, which wall very nice for local wines, needs more foreign wines. Go, Go, Go!"

  • "Went for DineLA. They provided a 6 course tasking menu. Most of the food was good, but could be a little hotter. Overall, the restaurant had a cool vibe, especially the "outside" patio."

  • "Brought a party of 6. We were seated quickly and easily. Great choices on the menu. Everyone liked everything they had. Yummy drinks. And for those who want to meet Stephan, that seems easy. He made sure to talk to us before we left and gave us a round of shots at the bar! Great ending to a really wonderful night. Did I mention free parking on Saturday nights?"

  • "Went here for the Dine LA experience, but this restaurant is always amazing. Great food, friendly staff, and it's always nice to see the owner there - it really shows that he cares about his restaurant and what goes into it. This also leaves a huge and lasting impression with the customers. Excellent place and my wife and I will definitely be coming back again!"

  • "My husband and I enjoyed very much dinner at Stefan's. Each of 5 courses was nicely prepared. I particularly liked their squash soup. My husband is on a veggie diet and our waiter made appropriate changes. Very nice. We will go again"

  • "We booked this restaurant without really knowing what to expect, but noticed that it had several really good reviews here on Open Table. We were very pleasantly surprised to have one of the best meals out we have had in a while. We had the six course tasting menu and it was a delight from start to finish. The portions were small, so six courses was not too much and each course was tasty, beautifully presented and well combined. I liked the fish course best, my partner loved the pork belly, but really all the courses were delicious and we even looked forward to the deserts, which we are normally much too full up to enjoy. Our server was excellent also. We look forward to returning with family and friends."

  • "For DineLA week Stefan's did a 6-course tasting menu, choice of two for each course. That's ambitious, but Stefan's carried it off well, no skimping, no short cuts. I particularly enjoyed the smoky, balcony potato soup, perfectly cooked pasta in the cacio e pepe, the pea puree under the halibut, and the succulent pork belly on truffled mash potatoes and sauerkraut -- a sort of re-imagined choucroute garni. Good service, very civilized noise level, and an attractive setting completed a very good dinner."

  • "It may be hard to find in the Lantana Building on Olympic, but once you do, you'll have found a culinary heaven. An eclectic mix of fish, meat and vegetables can be had for any palate and you can indulge in your basic needs with a burger or splurge with Seared Scallops. And don't miss dessert, Apple Beignets and Bananas Foster, where else can you get these? No where!"

  • "Quiet, romantic spot with great courtyard like sitting area. Two firepits with great lounge feeling for larger group or just a romantic couple outing. Definitely a place you must visit."

  • "we had Stefan's five course tasting meal with wine pairings. excellent at every stage. sashimi, followed by dainty little ravioli, scallop on a corn puree, filet mignon on truffle mash, and chocolate mousse on berry puree. every course was superb, and large enough to sate without the onset of a food coma (as nearly occurred when we did the seven course tasting a year ago. i can't imagine the 10 course tasting at the kitchen counter. you'd need assistance leaving, not to mention a designated driver.) a couple minor downsides: staff was slow in delivering first glass of wine and replacing forks as efficiently as they removed them. nevertheless, highly recommended."

  • "Few restaurants in LA have gone out of their way to make one of my dinner parties feel so special. We had an excellent food server who took care of all our special requests. The bartenders made wonderful cocktails. And the food was spectacular. We will be back many more times."

  • "Have loved L.A. Farm for years now. Always my favorite spot for a great meal. Even had my birthday party there last year - really wanted to introduce this great place to all my friends. I admit I have a bit of a 'tot problem - the tater tots are potato perfection! There are so many wonderful and diverse food choices, that I always over order. I absolutely cannot make up my mind. Works out, as I get to have a delicious meal of leftovers to take home with me. Great wine list, and excellent service. Never had a bad server there -Cathy, who served us last night was warm, friendly, and inviting. A terrific representative for Stefan and his fabulous restaurant!"

  • "The food at Stefan's at L.A. Farm is consistently excellent. We've been to the restaurant a half dozen times, and it has become one of our favorites for a "special night out." We shared several small plates, all superb: the pretzel dumplings in a mushroom sauce (dense and delicious); a flatbread with pears and blue cheese; the plank of smoked salmon (amazing); and an heirloom tomato salad (with a wonderful dressing), followed by two soups (a flavorful potato with smoked salmon, and a sweet butternut squash). Plus beignets for dessert! The servers were personable and attentive. The owner, Stefan Richter, even dropped by to chat. It was a lovely way to spend New Year's Eve, but the dining experience is great throughout the year."
