Diner Reviews
  • "Had the chance to go during restaurant week, and I know, the staff at most restaurants aren't that thrilled about those weeks, yet it does give the casual diner a chance to try out new spots. Steelhead Diner is out of my neighborhood, so restaurant week gives me a chance to take a ferry ride and expand my dining sphere. Happily, it is a short walk up to the Market from the Coleman Dock and a little like an adventure. We were completely delighted by the atmosphere, the wait staff and the menu. Had a great table and lovely, personable, professional server. A perfect, amazing, delicious meal followed, accompanied by a terrific bottle of wine she recommended. Other diners were obviously enjoying themselves, in the ambiance. We will be back! "

  • "This restaurant has always been a favorite - it's very accessible, has good customer service, great food and even better fresh squeezed juice cocktails. It's perched above the Market and even though it doesn't have a full view the ambience is very Seattle and really cool and upbeat. Great menu assortment, esp the desserts. Highly recommend it."

  • "Went here the night before my daughter's wedding with a group of 12. They had a perfect table by the window. The service was efficient and the food was excellent. The halibut and the new York strip were standouts The crabcakes were divine. I will return again!"

  • "We were there with friends for a restaurant week lunch. The three course meal was plentiful and so tasty--we had to take our desserts to go, because there was so much food! We go here often, and it never disappoints."

  • "They do offer some dishes you may not find elsewhere or there own local spin on a few items (such as the Sequimbled eggs), but as with most places located in or around the market they are depending on the tourist that are coming by rather than attracting locals with something truly different and ambitious."

  • "Although we were there for Seattle Restaurant week all the food was delicious an the service excellent. There was a buzz about the restaurant that was infectious, fantastic."

  • "Steelhead Diner elevates diner food for those with a discerning palate. Fresh, seasonal food highlighted on a rotating menu, diners won't be disappointed. It's also a great place to meet and have a conversation b/c the noise isn't too loud. Make sure to reserve a booth!"

  • "This is my second time at Steelhead Diner. I was again very impressed with the food selection and service. I organized a dinner for friends who were from out of town as well as locals. All enjoyed their dinner and time at the restaurant. The drink selection was excellent and met everyone's taste. The staff was very attentive but not over bearing. I would definitely recommend this to others."

  • "I always like to jump at opportunities to try new restaurants during Dine Around Seattle and/or Restaurant Week. Very glad I was able to try this place. Love the friendly atmosphere, and the food was great. Had a salad that was fresh and their Tortilla Soup was delicious, as well as the dessert. Definitely would consider coming back. In fact look forward to checking out the outside dining in the summer."

  • "We enjoyed our meal at Steelhead Diner. The soup was especially good and so was the salad. We chose items off of a prix fixe menu."

  • "We were finally able to visit Pike's Place Market on the last evening of a business trip, and booked dinner at the Steelhead Diner. We started with the creamy, savory poutine, plus an order of crab and shrimp tater tots. Both appetizers were generously sized, and were a great lead-in to our fish & chips and pork chop entrees. Everything was attractively presented, perfectly prepared, and only bested by the amazing view of the sun setting over the water. Thanks for a lovely end to our visit!"

  • "Whenever I think about a place in the market Steelhead is first on my mind. It has a great mix of lunch and brunch options plus broad selection of wine and choice beer options. I always seem to gravitate to one of the Po Boys (rock fish on the last visit) and one of the seasonal veg sides."

  • "My girlfriend and I ate here while visiting Pike Place Market and found it to be just okay. The restaurant was crowded with tourists and the menu was what you would expect of a diner. Service was slow and our soups came out at the same time as our entrees. The crab cakes were quite good (Tom Douglas' signature item I understand) but the sandwiches were disappointingly small and cold (even the "hot" ones). This restaurant just didn't match the quality of Dahlia Lounge or Etta's, and I doubt we will go back."

  • "We went to the Steelhead diner on the 30 for 30 deal and were amazingly surprised. The food was plentiful and very good plus the wine and other beverage offerings were nice."

  • "We came for Diner Around Seattle and sat outside on the small deck. We had the soup and flafel for starters. The soup had good flavor, but the flafel was more interesting. My husband had the steak for a main and loved it. I had the mahi mahi and it was nicely done, but a bit too heavy on the crust topping. My favorite by far was the cheesecake for dessert. Divine! Excellent service and good drinks. An enjoyable experience."

  • "It was freezing in the restaurant. We all ate with our coats on. Waitress mumbled something about needing the door to the deck open. Great. This is Seattle in March. The sun is out but it is still COLD. The food was pretty good but not fabulous like previous visits."

  • "You can't beat the location. Some of the food was over cooked. We were a party of six and the waiter couldn't bring all the plates at the same time. there was 2 to 3 minutes between the first delivery and the last."

  • "Everything was awesome. Service from start to finish was impeccable. The food is creative, constantly changing and reflects both local and seasonal sourcing."

  • "I may be picky - this was my choice to take a small group of out of towners. It is better than a generic chain, and the overpriced downtown tourist trap places, and has a wide variety of options for different palates. It generally feels easy and relaxed. But given my druthers I'd go plenty of other places first for food and ambience. Service was very good if slightly canned, which kind of fits."

  • "Enjoyed another Dine Around Seattle $15 3-course lunch (3 choices offered for each course). For appetizer selected the Crispy Roasted Garlic & Herb Falafel with 4 falafel deep-fried balls and a pickled carrot salad; entree selected the Cornmeal Crusted Rockfish Po’ Boy with French fries; and for dessert chose a delicious slice of Theo Chocolate Pecan Pie. All courses were excellent and not rushed. The rockfish po'boy with fries arrived hot and was very filling. A basket of soft bread with butter preceded the meal. Saul provided excellent service."

  • "Found this thanks to Dine Around. We loved this place: the ambiance, service, food, excellent by the glass wine list. We love finding new favorite dining spots when we visit Seattle. This is a keeper to return to. Glad Dine Around exists for new discoveries."

  • "Family gathered one by one and the wait staff was very graceful and accommodating, even though it was a very busy Monday evening. Drink and food were wonderful: the glowing yelp reviews about the crab cake starter were spot on. The Cioppino was absolutely marvelous...next time I would split this with someone, as is sized to share. After a meal like that, finish with mango sorbet and coffee. Very nice wine list, including splits of decent labels. I am very anxious to return again!"

  • "Steelhead Diner is a place that is perfect to bring visitors to, and even better to return to again and again as a local, it's that good. The food is fabulous, and the service is just the right amount of friendly attention without being overbearing."

  • "We stopped in for a couple drinks and a quick snack and we were pleasantly surprised. The food is good and so are the drinks. Service was standard."

  • "We had dinner twice at Steelhead Diner on our last visit to Seattle. The salmon with cherries, smoked almonds and crispy kale was delicious, so good that my husband and I had it both times. One of the best salon meals we have ever eaten. Delicious is all we can say!"

  • "We can always count on Steelhead for a great brunch - try the steak and eggs, the marchand du vin and mushrooms make it exceptional (and this from someone who doesn't care for mushrooms). Consistently good service, this was probably our fourth or fifth visit."

  • "Had a wonderful meal at Steelhead Diner. We ate there during the Seattle Restaurant event last Spring and the place was packed. Busy, with lots of conversations going on, but our table allowed for us to talk easily between the two of us. The meal was delicious. The service remarkable. I would highly recommend this and actually need to figure out when we can go back."

  • "In the age of so many special dietary needs one would think gluten intolerance would be accommodated in a restaurant. There was one GF dessert and it was no longer available at 7:30 on a Friday evening. Really poor planning. This was the second year in a row I went there for my birthday. Last year I told them on my reservation, but there was no mention made of my celebration. So I just didn't mention it this year. The rest of the food was really good and our server was great."

  • "Some of the reviews said this place is "past its prime." That's crazy. The service is great and the food is awesome. It's not at al touristy, even though it could be given the location. It's a classic Northwest diner - with a welcoming feel and great food."

  • "Seafood lovers from Montana were my guests. Kasu cod was "out" at 7:30. Had to ask twice for forks and finally took one from the next table. Had to ask for a spoon for the cioppino. Eyrie pinot was so thin as to not merit the title "wine." A substitute should have been offered. Had to ask for dessert menus and dessert was a looong time coming. Had to ask for a spoon for dessert. Two boisterous birthday tables got lots of attention but the details were sorely missing at ours including attention from mid meal on. Pot d'creme was good as was the sorbet. I was embarrassed."

  • "The mussels were good lots of tomatoe and garlic. Sicilian I think. Only a couple of entrays that. Caught my eye my friend had salmon a with blue cheese and kale and figs. It was fabulous my sablefsh was good too but not as unique as the salmon dish. Lg portions good thing we split the mussels"

  • "This is by far one of the best meals I've experienced - anywhere! The salmon was prepared perfectly! All our dishes were unique and delicious! We tried the Lavendar salad, Pork Belly, Catfish... All just superb! A true find in the vibrant Seattle restaurant scene... Not to be missed!"
