It's perched above the Market and even though it doesn't have a full view the ambience is very Seattle and really cool and upbeat. Great menu assortment, esp the desserts. Highly recommend it."

  • "This is my second time at Steelhead Diner. I was again very impressed with the food selection and service. I organized a dinner for friends who were from out of town as well as locals. All enjoyed their dinner and time at the restaurant. The drink selection was excellent and met everyone's taste. The staff was very attentive but not over bearing. I would definitely recommend this to others."

Love the friendly atmosphere, and the food was great. Had a salad that was fresh and their Tortilla Soup was delicious, as well as the dessert. Definitely would consider coming back. In fact look forward to checking out the outside dining in the summer."

  • "We were finally able to visit Pike's Place Market on the last evening of a business trip, and booked dinner at the Steelhead Diner. We started with the creamy, savory poutine, plus an order of crab and shrimp tater tots. Both appetizers were generously sized, and were a great lead-in to our fish & chips and pork chop entrees. Everything was attractively presented, perfectly prepared, and only bested by the amazing view of the sun setting over the water. Thanks for a lovely end to our visit!"

  • "My girlfriend and I ate here while visiting Pike Place Market and found it to be just okay. The restaurant was crowded with tourists and the menu was what you would expect of a diner. Service was slow and our soups came out at the same time as our entrees. The crab cakes were quite good (Tom Douglas' signature item I understand) but the sandwiches were disappointingly small and cold (even the "hot" ones). This restaurant just didn't match the quality of Dahlia Lounge or Etta's, and I doubt we will go back."

  • "We came for Diner Around Seattle and sat outside on the small deck. We had the soup and flafel for starters. The soup had good flavor, but the flafel was more interesting. My husband had the steak for a main and loved it. I had the mahi mahi and it was nicely done, but a bit too heavy on the crust topping. My favorite by far was the cheesecake for dessert. Divine! Excellent service and good drinks. An enjoyable experience."

  • "It was freezing in the restaurant. We all ate with our coats on. Waitress mumbled something about needing the door to the deck open. Great. This is Seattle in March. The sun is out but it is still COLD. The food was pretty good but not fabulous like previous visits."

It is better than a generic chain, and the overpriced downtown tourist trap places, and has a wide variety of options for different palates. It generally feels easy and relaxed. But given my druthers I'd go plenty of other places first for food and ambience. Service was very good if slightly canned, which kind of fits."

  • "Enjoyed another Dine Around Seattle $15 3-course lunch (3 choices offered for each course). For appetizer selected the Crispy Roasted Garlic & Herb Falafel with 4 falafel deep-fried balls and a pickled carrot salad; entree selected the Cornmeal Crusted Rockfish Po’ Boy with French fries; and for dessert chose a delicious slice of Theo Chocolate Pecan Pie. All courses were excellent and not rushed. The rockfish po'boy with fries arrived hot and was very filling. A basket of soft bread with butter preceded the meal. Saul provided excellent service."

Drink and food were wonderful: the glowing yelp reviews about the crab cake starter were spot on. The Cioppino was absolutely marvelous...next time I would split this with someone, as is sized to share. After a meal like that, finish with mango sorbet and coffee. Very nice wine list, including splits of decent labels. I am very anxious to return again!"

Busy, with lots of conversations going on, but our table allowed for us to talk easily between the two of us. The meal was delicious. The service remarkable.   • "In the age of so many special dietary needs one would think gluten intolerance would be accommodated in a restaurant. There was one GF dessert and it was no longer available at 7:30 on a Friday evening. Really poor planning. This was the second year in a row I went there for my birthday. Last year I told them on my reservation, but there was no mention made of my celebration. So I just didn't mention it this year. The rest of the food was really good and our server was great."

  • "Seafood lovers from Montana were my guests. Kasu cod was "out" at 7:30. Had to ask twice for forks and finally took one from the next table. Had to ask for a spoon for the cioppino. Eyrie pinot was so thin as to not merit the title "wine." A substitute should have been offered. Had to ask for dessert menus and dessert was a looong time coming. Had to ask for a spoon for dessert. Two boisterous birthday tables got lots of attention but the details were sorely missing at ours including attention from mid meal on. Pot d'creme was good as was the sorbet. I was embarrassed."

It was fabulous my sablefsh was good too but not as unique as the salmon dish. Lg portions good thing we split the mussels"

  • "This is by far one of the best meals I've experienced - anywhere! The salmon was prepared perfectly! All our dishes were unique and delicious! We tried the Lavendar salad, Pork Belly, Catfish... All just superb! A true find in the vibrant Seattle restaurant scene... Not to be missed!"

  • "The menu reads great but the food is average at best. The fried chicken was over cooked and heavily battered. The salmon was just ok. Avoid the oysters, small and tasteless. Atmosphere was cold and dark. Pictures the the internet look nothing like the inside of this restaurant. Avoid. Go to Etta's around the corner for truly fabulous food."
