Diner Reviews
  • "Always perfect, always beautiful, and always delicious! For the last two decades Steel has been one of my top five favorite restaurants in dallas."

  • "You can carry on conversations without raising your voice. The staff is attentive without being annoying, very helpful and will suggest dishes or wines if asked. Great wines! Great ambience."

  • "We were looking forward to eating at steel but it was a huge let down. The food was not even good and it was wayyyyyyyyyyy overpriced. I would never eat there again. We have been all over the United States and have eaten sushi at a lot of different places but this place was by far the worst of all. DO NOT go!!!!!!!!!!"

  • "In town for tourney. Perfect spot to start a great visit. If you enjoy Sushi Rolls, this is the spot. Also a excellent range of Asian dishes."
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "Love this place - we dine usually for lunch - creative, fresh and always tasty sushi combos and rolls. Plus - gotta appreciate the creativity of the house-made drinks. Not inexpensive, but will worth the price if you can bear the bill. :)"

  • "We have been visiting Steel for quite sometime and every time it is very satisfying. Quality of food is consistently very good to excellent. Wine list is also very nice. Will keep coming!"

  • "I had the sushi/sashimi combo with a seaweed salad. Seaweed salad was very good. Sashimi was ok but not great. The sushi was decent but nothing too exciting. I should have gone with my guy and gotten rolls instead of nigiri."
    Dined on 3/24/2014
  • "We had a great time. The food was great and out server, Luis or Lewis was excellent. Not my first time to Steel and I will attend again the near future."
    Dined on 3/19/2014
  • "Friendly (if not a bit too-friendly) service; very good food; quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Overall, a very nice lunch. Nothing spectacular, but then again, nothing about which to complain."
    Dined on 3/17/2014
  • "What a lovely experience!! I took my niece, who is very new to sushi and she loved everything we tried. Fabulous sashimi and rolls. Nice sake collection."

  • "Hasn't been here in a while. Food was mediocre. Empty on a Saturday night."

  • "I made reservations for Steel based on reviews alone. I did not look at the menu or photos or location...the service, the food, the atmosphere, and even the location turned out to be perfect. Steel is a restaurant I will remember for any special occasion in the future when in Dallas. Great experience."

  • "The service and staff are respectful and on their A game. Drinks remain filled, empty plates are pulled, crumbs are dusted off and the team puts a smile on your face Making you feel like a star :)"

  • "Food was outstanding. Service was not so great. Our waitress was not familiar with what they were serving there."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "Surprised my wife with a late dinner - she loves sushi. Her two rolls were well above average, and the crispy beef entree I had was outstanding. We shared a bottle of wine (on sale for 1/2 price!) and will definitely go back!"

  • "The staff seemed like great people. They were very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed a terrific cold sake, and my date loved her cocktail. It was Valentine's day so the menu was a set three courser. 1st: I got pork+lamb meatballs, which were phenomenal. She got lettuce wraps which were composed very well. Main: I got a cherry hoisin pork chop that was phenomenal! It was served with tasty fried rice and pineapple kim chee. She got a nice piece of halibut. Great choices. Dessert: I had a banana split and she had chocolate cake. Both were excellent final courses. Steel is a personal favorite for better than "Las Vegas quality" pan asian fare in Dallas."

  • "The food was once again outstanding. Still my all time fave sushi place. My cocktail drink was a bit sub-par but otherwise the whole meal experience was fantastic."

  • "Title says it all. Sushi was OK, fish curry was fine, miso prepared Chilean sea bass was pretty good, but the crispy beef ordered by one diner was gloppy and pretty bad. Service started out well, but got much slower at the middle of the meal. Used to love going here, but sadly won't be returning. Too many dishes have missed the mark on our last few visits."

  • "Always have an amazing experience. Hostess could have smiled more and made me feel more welcome. But our server was great! Very informative, kind, helpful, and personable. Food is rare to find but melts in your mouth. If you're a fan of sushi this is the best place in town by far!! I love how they accommodate special wishes on special occasions. I can't find another place that cares as much as Steel. Can't wait to go back!!"

  • "One of the best Sea Bass preparations I've ever had."
    Dined on 1/24/2014
  • "Five of us were there at 7:15 on a Wednesday night. It was not very crowded. The waiter came to our table and seemed full of energy and ready to wait on us, but fell short of the job. He took forever to bring our first round of drinks and the same thing happened with the second round. It was so long that I had forgotten I had ordered another. We did enjoy our food and the atmosphere."
    Dined on 1/15/2014
  • "Was our first visit to Steel. All the staff was welcoming and attentive. Our waiter recommended different sushi and entrees after asking our likes and dislikes. Everything was delicious . The Chilean Sea bass was fantastic. Highly recommend this resturant!"

  • "We took my brother here from out of state to dine. It was our first time too. We came because the reviews for sea bass was excellent. It held true. The sea bass was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. He really enjoyed the experience. We had 2 kids under the age of 5 and was nervous about taking them here. It's not very kid friendly but the staff made it so the kids and us were comfortable. My kids are very well behaved when they go out so it isn't too much of a problem. Overall, great experience and I would love to come back for a date night."

    Dined on 12/15/2013
  • "We ate at the bar so we could watch a football game. Edward does an excellent job of handling food orders as well as providing excellent drink service. Food was excellent as always and the menu has a very wide variety."

  • "I like Steel. I have often had really fun dinners in the wonderful private room. The main dining hall is nice, and may be very nice, but I think I'm spoiled by my past experiences. The bare looks really fun. Same food with a more relaxed atmosphere."
    Dined on 12/4/2013
  • "Awesome experience every time. I've taken my date there four times it is our place... for the fabulous food and the ambiance. Friday night I had the Volcano Roll and the Vietnamese Sea Salt & Chili Pepper Shrimp & Calamari. Unbelievable. I see I have become jaded over the years because I actually stopped and closed my eyes and savored and I haven't done that in years... testimony to how extraordinary the food is. The ambiance is elegant and romantic, offers great people watching, and with complementary valet parking it makes for a great experience whether on a date or craving consistently excellent food. I haven't had a favorite restaurant since I lived in Brooklyn in the 90's or San Francisco in the 80's before that! Thank you, Steel!"

  • "By far one if my favorites. The food is absolutely outstanding and they are willing to work with whatever you desire. Service is phenomenal, every time I have dined there ther staff has bent over backwards for us. Great experience for a small group or a couple. If you haven't dined here fix yourself and get there!"

  • "Been a loyal customer here for about 14-15 years. They never disappoint!! one of Dallas' best not only for sushi...but all choices for all tastes! Kevin"

  • "Not bad for someone trying sushi of sashimi for the first time. For the quality size and flavor of the sushi I was not blown away. Very middle of the road. Service very nice and décor modern. A bit pricey for what it is."
    Dined on 10/26/2013
  • "I know it is not the most trendy sushi spot in Dallas, but it never disappoints. It is always consistent great food. The non-sushi food is just as good as the sushi. I have never ordered something there that I didn't love."
    Dined on 9/28/2013
  • "Thank you to the entire staff at Steel for an excellent dinner experience. Louis was our waiter and he remembers my personal preferences on wine and my meal. I had a birthday celebration for family members and it was a truly memorable evening. My guests loved the Chilean Sea Bass, as do I. Thank you to everyone."

  • "We headed to Steel for restaurant week. We had been wanting to try it for years, and we were excited to finally make it. We ordered the shrimp hand roll- it was okay. They said it had cheetos in it, so we thought that was a funny gimmick. It tasted nothing like cheetos. The fourth course was a prawn served on very salty spinach. The entree was salmon, which was drowning in a red curry sauce, which also turned the rice into glop. The creme brulee dessert was slightly burned. The service was awkward and obsequious. Overall, we were disappointed, and we won't return."
    Dined on 8/31/2013
  • "I met friends for a birthday lunch. all the food was GREAT! the service was exceptional. I will go back - sooner than the last time I was there."
    Dined on 8/21/2013
  • "Great restaurant with great service. My wife and I had a Alaska roll and a Firecracker roll. Both top shel! The chocolate bento box is a must!"

  • "Great ambiance, good service, great food. Loved the baked crab roll and uptown roll. Sashimi was very fresh and tasty. Price was appropriate. I would definitely recommend it and go back again soon."
